Yeah but the issue with "does good in training" is that applied to Dean Hammond according to Atkins, and he looked like he'd never played football before.

Some managers like players and some managers dislike players. Not saying that's what's happened here, but it does feel as if CW has said Nils isn't his player so won't use him - same as what he tried with McGuinness

Surprised no one in league 1/2 has fancied a loan for him. Surely easier to asses his suitability for the future vs the polish leagues

I guess if we know he’s really, really terrible, then you want to avoid a L1/L2 loan that will expose how bad he is to the wider world and send his value straight to £0

But it’s not clear what our plan is to recoup on him? If we just made a massive mistake and there’s no player in there, you’d think we’d be best backing out of it quickly and selling him straight on for whatever we can get, while the hype and the price we paid are still fresh in peoples minds.

I'm not sure what is worse with your post, the hyperbole you have with how much his value might fall, or thinking that the lower tiers of English football are higher profile than the Ekstraklasa

Bit harsh on Giggs with him only being 19 and Curtis is stepping up a level along back to League 1 (personally probably his last time out on loan before make a final decision). Can understand Marsh as he has been on loan a lot, Sasnauskas not helped by injuries but again agreed on that one.

Plus you have to loan the players to grow their value.

They’re usually at the opposite end of the table. They have been heavily bankrolled in recent years, winning the league a few years ago.

But, Polish football is crazy like that so I wouldn’t be shocked if they plummet back where they came from.

I don’t think Nils will help matters based on what we know.

Interesting, thank you for that. I have to say I haven’t heard of them but my knowledge of European football (well any football outside of United) isn’t what it was 10 years ago. I’d struggle to name anyone other than Widzew Lodz and Lech Poznan at the moment I think.

It would have been nice to at least have seen him with our own eyes during pre-season.

Wilder does have previous for selected players based on attitude over ability and/or bombing players out for minor indiscretions so lets not pretend he's the ultimate arbiter of playing ability.

then why did Bettis/Schieber/Allen/Hoyland agree to pay £3m quid for him then? Why did we give Baptiste and try in pre-season but didn't even bother giving Zatterstrom 15 minutes against Rotherham? Surely you'd do that just to find him a new club?

Maybe it's attitude, maybe it's application, maybe it's fitness. Could be a million things but you can't hide from the fact we spent a decent sum of money (for United) on a player that's just vanished. If he's genuinely that bad then negotiate terminating his contract and let him find another club, because having him hang around Shirecliffe isn't helping anybody.

You may as well just get rid of the entire youth team if we won’t be giving these lads time.

I think Marsh is a bit of an anomaly. There seems a belief he has the ability but his growth and exposure to the men’s game has been stunted by a couple of poorly timed injuries. We can’t do that with everyone but for one or two you might make the exception if you think you may have your next Jamie Vardy or Ian Wright on your hands!

I'd argue it's likely the same with Cannon. He must look brilliant in training as he keeps picking him, but the evidence from match days is that he's not good enough...

He played the first half at Halifax. Think he nodded a long ball back out the box for their goal. It wasnt great but it wasnt an OMG moment. He doesnt look as good as Baptiste as a defender/footballer but he is a bit taller. Being foreign wont help him with the current management. Ideally we should all move on from it.

Adkins justified the selection of Hammond on the basis that he did "unseen work" during games, not in training.
