If he’s deemed to be slower than Mee and less mobile than McGuinness, then a career in football is not for him.
But I will reserve judgement because I’ve not actually seen him play.
If this is the case why did we take a loss on Caceres to spend millions on signing him?

Having spent a couple of years working in Stockholm I can well imagine the typical Scandinavian personality type not getting on with wilder’s pashun merchants at all.

So a young lad good enough to move to Serie A yet not good enough to get a start in the Championship in a team with shit CB's 🤔

When you look at it like that then it does make you wonder. 😄

Was he a player identified by Bord or Selles?

I seem to remember in one of his interviews Selles said he monitors the Scandinavian leagues, so I'm guessing him. £2.8m, hopefully we can get that most or all back if there's an option to buy.

Came on for Genoa today, managed 1 minute of game time, already played more for Genoa than did for us, shame.

They’re 13th in Serie A.

Of course they should have better players than us but Serie A is a very low quality league at the minute. The big teams hardly do anything Europe and the gulf between them and the likes of Genoa is massive, especially financially. Genoa’s record signing cost £17m.

I mean you say that, but inter have been in 2 of the last 3 ECL finals.

Ac got to semis aswell.

He's the new Diego the Geronimo - or whatever his name was. A young player destined for greatness if only our short-sighted, pig-ignorant, in-bred, Deliverance "management" team could see what is right there in front of their eyes and give the young lad a chance.

But instead he'll just have to go on and win the Balloon d'Or at another club.

We'll still miss you Diego the Geronimo!

What we need to do is turn this thread about a player who never played for us into the longest thread ever! Let's make Nils Immortal!

Let the kop rejoice in these words.

Voulez vous (aha)
Take him now or leave him (aha)
Now is all we get (aha)
Nothing promised, no regrets (aha)
Voulez vous (aha)
Ain't no big decision (aha)
He knew what to do (aha)
La question ces't voulez vous
Voulez Vous

Wasn't he signed as a development player?

I would imagine with a view to him getting around the squad after a year and then first team after that.

So less than 6 months into the deal we've pretty much shat the bed and bombed him out.

Let's be honest he will never play a first team match for us.

This is why we really need a DOF.

To stop wasting money on poor signings and have a strategy FFS.
Right. A DOF would have prevented this.
The magic DOF wand strikes again 😂😂😂

It’s difficult to classify him as a poor signing considering we’ve never actually seen him play a competitive game.

He could’ve been the next Nosworthy, but equally he could’ve been the Swedish Maldini. Nobody knows as he’s never had the chance.
That’s right. No fan has seen him play so nobody knows if he’s decent or not 🤦‍♂️

It’s like the fans are the final arbiters of whether a lad is good enough for the first team but the coaches know absolutley nothing.

I’d love to know why he was good enough to take up and ESC slot and spend a few million on in the summer but less than six months later he’s below the standards of even our U21s, but somehow a Serie A team can see him doing a job.

Whichever way you cut it this is completely unhinged behaviour by the club and reeks of him not fitting Wilder’s ‘type’ so him bombing him out, the same way he tried to do with Peck & N’Diaye.
Bord AI is your most likely answer.

To pay the cut for Bord, Obvs.

I don’t see why it’s so difficult to see that Bord had far too much influence on signings with the main purpose of getting his fees. He duped the COH directors into thinking he was an ace at football recruitment with his AI model.

You only have to look at the players brought in to see how crap that modelling was. It was no risk to him as he was playing with SUFC and COH money.

People can’t be that short sighted, surely?
Can they?

Background: came through Malmö FF’s excellent academy. 2024 was his first year in senior football and had 10 starts. So far this season he has 7 starts. Never been a constant starter or a solid performer over time which is sort of worrying me. The more exposure a young player gets the more data points are accumulated and we tend to be able to make a better prediction. But I am concerned that he has only been given the nod when they’ve had challenges with injuries and suspensions. However, I disagree with the general quality being L1, it would be to simplify things. See my post from last night about that particular discussion and my counter examples.

Back to Nils and Malmö: they have mostly played a 3-5-2 formation but opted to use Busanello and Stryger (two wing-backs) at centre back rather than Zetterström which tells us something about something and where in the hierarchy he is in their squad. And if I am not mistaken he has been excluded from the full match day squad at least once. They have have preferred Pontus Jansson and Colin Rösler (+ Busanello and Stryger) and since Andrej Djuric joined them from Red Star a few weeks ago he has found himself further down in the pecking order.

Meaning we are making a significant investment on a player Malmö (who has struggled all season) has been looking to send on loan or sell due to limited opportunities. But - there is potential for sure. However, in line with my argument for signing BT (all my posts on that subject quite interesting to read!) - as long as we have done our due diligence and know exactly what we are signing, I am fine with this. But the club must have a long-term plan (development, utilisation etc) and also communicate with the supporters what we should expect. Otherwise we are making a big mistake.

I cant see him having an impact for us this year, if even next year. It’s always difficult to predict how young players (without much experience) develop but I am not super enthusiastic about this one (short term). But if the recruitment team firmly believe that this is our guy (long-term), we will find out and hopefully they do have a plan for him. We shall see.

A few things I like with him:
  • Decent physique for his age
  • Left-footed
  • Can break lines with his passing
Well, I was not surprised. How many minutes has he for Genoa?

The lad missed his chance to play against the creaking Jamie Vardy when Genoa were at Cremonese recently.

Would have added some extra spice to a dull 0-0 if Blade Nils had been sent on to mark him and the travelling supporters had chimed in with a few chants of 'Wednesday Reject' and 'Where's Your Bannon Gone?'

They’re refusing to see the reg flags about Bord aren’t they

On the basis that he is not Tunaman, he is obviously god's gift to football club ownership.

They are also refusing to see that the takeover is not progressing at all smoothly.

Frying Pan?
Fire?
One can, but hope.

Played 1, single minute for Genoa so far

'Undisclosed' fee to AIK in the summer I reckon

Assuming we don’t go up, Bindon will be back at Forest and Mee might be gone depending on his contract option.

I don’t think it’s daft to suggest that he could feature for the first team next season? He’s certainly young enough to give him more time to develop.

It'd certainly be better for the balance sheet if he can contribute

They were cruising against ten men still didn't get on. Starting to think Bord paying 30 million for Sheffield Wednesday isn't a smart decision
