And besides, it's better to reserve my contempt for the bigger cunts that have been in charge, like Colin for instance.

I had to google 'poverty porn'. I'll not lie, I was disappointed. I was hoping for some rough lasses from Moss Side or Middlesbrough, something like that.
Stop posting pictures of me!
Positive point 3. He was desperate to get certain players out, like Collins, who just wouldn't fuck off. It wasn't a case of him assuming there would be no takers. In most cases there weren't. It's not easy getting players out of a club when they're on their way down. As Porter is rumoured to have told Weir when he dropped him for Taylor 'I'll be at this club longer than you'.Here's my observations on Adkins:
Negatives:
1 Signed too many of his former players who were largely past their best
2 Didn't sign younger, hungrier players like Wilder has
3 Failed to recognise the weak links early enough in the season
4 The "nice bloke" image might be positive but I seem to recall posters on here have spoken to players from that time and it appears they didn't rate him. Freeman certainly didn't and you don't need to speak to Freeman to know that.
5 His interviews were for 50% of each interview the same, you could just listen to the last one
6 He eventually blamed the fans for the poor atmosphere at the Lane, or in general, not himself or the players, including the 4 - 0 defeat on the opening day of the season when he said fans were on the teams back from the off - presumably he thinks 4 - 0 away to Gillingham is acceptable.
7 Football was possession based, not chances based, so frequently we'd have great possession but still fail to win games.
Positives
1 He signed Billy Sharp!
2 He shipped out some of the dead wood, but took him too long to do this, as presumably he thought that there wouldn't be takers for the likes of McEvely and Collo, the latter I love, but he was past his best.
3 He was unfortunate with the inheritance of a bloated and ageing squad but then brought in more ageing crap players, Billy aside.
I can see him keeping Hull up, and he seems to do well when he inherits a good team, and Hull are better than their league position suggests, but still can't see him being a long term success.

He had a difficult job, one that only a few managers could do, he wasn't one of the few.
I don't recall him playing Collins every game. I don't think he was looking to bomb McEveley out, he made him captain. Another mistake.I'll accept it was a difficult task but if don't want someone then I would suggest playing them every game, which he did with Collo and McEvely, is not a way of getting rid of them. When Wilder came, we immediately knew who he had put up for sale. Maybe Adkins did, but kept it quiet to the fans, I don't know. He also failed to get the best out of the existing squad, which I forgot to put on the list. I was largely a defender of Adkins with us, and hoped he would stay on the next season, until the Scunthorpe game, when he said the fans were to blame for the atmosphere. He may well have known he was going then, but it was still a ridiculous statement, since it was the football from the team that was to blame, not the fans.
You missed the biggest positive, we sacked him. Here's my observations on Adkins:

We did. And hoped it was a one off mistake. It wasn't.You have to question any manager’s judgement whose first move is to appoint Jay McEveley as captain!
I felt a bit sorry for him until the way the team just gave up towards the end of the season and he started sniping at the support. As Ricky said, he acted like he was new to management, not like a bloke with four promotions under his belt. You can't manage robust and competitive lads just by gathering them round the camp fire and signing Kum Ba Ya.I can't believe some appearing to feel a bit sorry for him. He was fucking clueless whilst here. And that's swearing.

The difference with Wilder was that he was able to immediately release players as well as putting some on the list. It would have been much harder for Wilder if he'd taken over a year earlier but I still think he'd have handled it better than Adkins did.
I also think Adkins was sold a pup and told by the board that the squad was good enough, just needed a little tweaking and that the main problem was that Clough was a bad manager, the players just needed 'coaching better'.

If you read my post properly I said higher up the ladder, meaning from a job in league one whilst with us to a job in the Championship with Hull.Where is the complaint button?
