They thought WIlson was the right man, Weir, Clough and now Adkins. You can go on forever saying "we thought he was the right man for the job"... does not mean you're doing a good job. Eventually you have to look at yourself before you blame others.
Ludicrous argument. Everybody thought Adkins was the man. Far more so than Clough and Weir.

If there's one thing you cannot criticise McCabe for, it's appointing Nigel Adkins.

Looked clueless since the very first game. Glad he's gone. I do wonder if those bemoaning his departure actually attended many games this season??!!

I stopped watching/listening to his interviews months ago, so I'm not getting the references to Sunday. What did he say?

Meanwhile McCabe has successfully shifted blame onto another manager.

Kev carries no blame on this one . We all thought Adkins was the right man , but not to be . Too risky to let him build a side and fail . Hats off to McCabe . First decision he has got right in years . Took some bottle this one , but Adkins alienated the fans.

New dawn most definitely .

Would have given him another season, but can`t argue with the decision.

A shameful season, hopefully we`ve hit rock bottom.

Adkins talked his way into being sacked. I know someone on here was taking the piss with a 40 page presentation , but it seems to be true . You cannot also say it was a good transition season and the fans are too impatient.

The man has lost it IMO.

Excellent, decisive action by the club. Adkins only has himself to blame, him sniping at the fans after the game on Sunday, and criticising us for daring to be pissed off at losing 4-0 to Gillingham was probably the final nail in his coffin.

Will be nice to have a manager who isn't away with the fairies half the time and will sort this mess of a club out. Adkins wasn't that man, in hindsight. I'm glad the board have rectified it now. If they make a swift appointment which reports seem to suggest they will, then it leaves us in a good state heading in to the new season.

I'm already excited again for next season now I know that Adkins and Hammond won't be here.

Not sure what I think about this . Adkins has undoubtedly done awful. He can have little complaint himself but as a club its getting ridiculous how we sack a manager every season. We have to stick with one of them for at least two seasons

Roy agree and you are correct . This time needs must . To keep him , the risk was too high for him to build a new team , and then have to sack him. A great opportunity for the new manager to build from scratch .

Also lessons learnt for Adkins in his next job . Do not criticise the paying customer .

I expect Wilder to be sacked soon enough. If bringing a few loan signings, one that was signed before you arrived and two permanent signings counts as being backed then the likes of Wilder have nowt to come. Especially when the likes of Clough were allowed to bring a ton of dross in.

Going against the grain here , but I'm also in the give him till Christmas camp to see where we are ,
before getting rid , if needed.
Wilson , first year with the team that came down , supported financially by the club , well we know what happened
at Wembley.
Wilsons second year with his squad gutted and sold off , along with the top scorer to Reading ,
kicked out , hoping the new manager bounce would see us through, never happened.
Wier , most thought at first a good signing with his time at youth work level, fucking disaster,
rabbit caught in headlights springs to mind .
Clough 2cup semi's, 1 playoff semi , given time to resign players spent a lot of this years budget then sacked
for behind scenes reasons ?
Adkins , everybody thought Fuckme the club has signed a winner here , his track record, this is the year
Although he signed some crap. ( Clough wanted Sammon as well ) , couldn't believe what he said about the fans on Sunday, think he knew the writing was on the wall .
Wonder whose next up against the wall .
As always UTB .

Said it last year, might as well repeat myself. Just a 1 year contract for the next manager please.

Not angry about Adkins going like I was when Clough went, just really, really bored of it all.

We cannot possibly offer anyone more than a 12 month contract now. The board have made it very clear, you get one chance at promotion and if you don't achieve it, you're out.

What is the incentive for any Sheffield United manager to now try and build for the future? You spot a Che Adams but what's the point in signing him? You need short-term, guaranteed 1 season fixes. No point worrying about next season, you won't be here unless you get promotion in this season.

Nearly all of our current problems stem from an overly short-term approach but we've done it again.

Also, we've exacerbated the problems we've created ourselves by getting the timing horribly wrong yet again - why wait 2 weeks? How can we end up behind Swindon in terms of planning?

When you piss off the sensible majority of fans (e.g. the 66ish% who wanted Clough to stay) then you're on very shaky ground as a football club.

Terrible decision and very little chance of making a good appointment to put it right. The next manager market on Sky is a list of massive gambles (Warburton, Deane), absolute disasters (Parkinson, Ferguson) and never going to happen in a million years (joint 6th favourite is Allardyce!).

Apparently Perason was in the frame... but it's a case of one Nigel too far...
Board want a fresh start so no Neil's, Kevin's, Bryan's, David's or Danny's will be considered either

He said, quite correctly, that a significant number of our fans are complete wankers who never get behind the team and create a poisonous atmosphere at the Lane.

He went on to say they were single-celled Neanderthals who would applaud his departure, despite his proven achievements and celebrate the arrival of a Bladey mediocrity who has taken 15 years to become an overnight sensation.

He then pointed out that, given reasonable time, he would likely have turned this wreck of a club around and given us a proper football team to be proud of, but the s2 Hoofitandhope mentality wouldn't permit that.

He advised we replace him with someone, anyone, with Bladey Blade credentials. Preferably someone from the Dinosaur Dave era. He said we should be upanatem and gerritintbox. He said we'd be more comfortable with that.

He then wished the thickest, crudest, most parochial, least sophisticated supporters in football everything they deserve. So do I. It won't involve me.

Agree that we need consistency but you cannot keep a manager for consistency sake that is clearly not the right man for the job. The worst thing we could do is waste another year on Adkins who has shown us nothing positive to make us think he is the man. He has not only failed to deliver improvement but has actually taken us backwards.

The board HAVE to accept the blame for its recruitment policy and make sure they get it right this time.

Pinch me owd.

I can sort of get on board with your first sentence. Been saying this for some time. A section of our support IS a problem.

The rest of your post is, surely, a bit on the negative side as we haven't even officially appointed the poor bugger as yet !

UTB.

So we've now reached a stage where we've sacked yet another manager, hoping to find a replacement who can come in at the drop of a hat, replace a squad that requires euthanasia, and do it in the shortest time available.

Absolutely fucking brilliant, Kevin.

And heres your starter for 10.........managers that is.
Wonder what bullshit Bladey Kev will come out with at the next press conferance. But Hey...............
Then theres the technical board. .Who are they . Smokescreen United
