Im not even happy about it. We will just bring in another manager who will give people more of a chance, end up in exactly the same situation in 12 months.

Another season another manager and the players get away with being shite again.

We did that, and the Clough Bros completely fucked us over in terms of who we brought in.

The Technical Board means that no longer crocks on high wages are brought in

Fair point, but if the likes of Hammond and Woolford were as a result of the technical board, to me they'd be open to question too.

What has Adkins brought to the party? Except for Billy who was hardly the find of the century
Scunny game and thereafter comments put nails in the coffin.
Swapping managers isn't going to help but Adkins had lost the fans (majority anyway) and barring a miracle I don't think he would win them back.
His football, tactics and signings in general were awful....his interviews laughable. So so disappointed in the guy.
Yep he was a total waste of space

Bloody hell!

He dug his own grave with Sunday's team selection and jumped right into it with his interview afterwards.

Absolutely correct. When we go to a home game with Scunthorpe expecting to lose, it can't get much worse. Thank God McCabe didn't allow him to build his own empire and the new bloke shouldn't have too much to do. Most of the wasters were on their way out anyway.
No doubt we'll have some saying we're 'impatient' and that 'we didn't give him time'. Utter bollox. Sunday once again proved our phenominal patience as fans.

If anybody is doubting the wisdom of his sacking, read this and substitute 'Adkins' for 'McClaren'.

Left it to late. The board needs going I cant trust they next move here sadly .

I was in the 'let's give Adkins till Christmas to sort it out' camp, even though he'd offered preciously little evidence of him being able to do so. I think he probably knew he was going before the last game so gave us all a two fingered salution with his team selection and post match interview. I'm concerned about how quickly we're churning through managers, but I'd struggle to make a case fore him to have stayed beyond saying 'I don't want to sack another manager'.

Absolutely astounding. We're going absolutely nowhere with McCabe at the helm. Adkins and Co had a 3 year contract. What a fucking waste of money. Money that should be going on players.

We're a joke.

One rumour I heard, earlier in the season, was that there were clauses in his contract about where we finished this season. Not generally like us, but hopefully he won't begetting a full pay out.

Who is the new manager, that we all want sacked by Xmas, going to be.
Could be a bad decision but it's all a lottery.

His departure was sorted several weeks ago

If that's the case, I'm still not sad to see him go.

Like many others, I thought he was a brilliant appointment and the best manager that was out there available to us. For numerous reasons it didn't work out and it's for the best he has gone.
It happens - onwards I say!

What? The board appointed a man everyone thought was the right man.

He turned out to be a total failure and have acted quickly and correctly.

Barney - the first time I've ever liked (or even remotely not disagreed with) what you said.

Your short succinct words are indisputable.

The 'best man' for the job failed badly. It really is that simple.

At least "the Nigels" had coached at a higher level .... Cloughie at Derby and Atkins at Southampton ... which is why many were excited about their appointmnents.
ex-Blade or not.. never thought I'd see the day where our preferred managerial candidate was the current manager of Northampton
shows how far we've sunk though

not sad that Adkins sacked, sad that Sheffield united are in this position again, MCCABE GET IT RIGHT THIS TIME!!!!!!!

Does anyone think we will wait until after the playoffs to look once again at a certain other manager???

They thought WIlson was the right man, Weir, Clough and now Adkins. You can go on forever saying "we thought he was the right man for the job"... does not mean you're doing a good job. Eventually you have to look at yourself before you blame others.

Could be worse we could be trying to get Rob Page off Port Vale.

I totally agree, Adkins has been very poor but it's the board who has made these poor decisions.

Another view is they made a seemingly fantastic appointment in Adkins, gave him the funds to buy one of the highest paid players in the division, retained potentially the highest wage bill in League 1 and then gave him until the end of the season rather than a kneejerk reaction some wanted in March.

Personally, I can't fault them on Adkins appointment, but, and this is a very big but - they've failed again and can only be judged on another season in League 1.

The club is suffering from a terminal case of failure and it permeates every microbe of the club. We could appoint Eddie Howe, give him a few million to spend and we'd finish in 14th next season.

And sadly, there's no cure beyond a season with better luck than this one.
