Nicked our songs

I may be wrong but I seem to recall “You’ll never walk alone” was sang by loads of clubs every so often til early 90s….before Liverpool commodified it.

Also I wonder when and why people stopped singing

A) the score line to “amazing grace”

B) “here we go, here we go, here we go”
Yes plenty of teams sung it and I’m sure we also did. All were copying Liverpool who in turn had nicked it off Man Utd in the first place.

I remember our fans singing YNWA when I first started going - early 1970s
It only really became associated with Liverpool because Gerry Marsden was a scouser and Liverpool fan. But back in the day it was a fairly generic terrace song.

True, the Mancs had been singing it for a number of years though before Gerry sang it.

I watched Fleetwood v Accrington Stanley on the box on Monday and the Stanley fans were singing the GCB. This is how it goes apparently…

You light up my senses,
Like a gallon of Magnet,
Like a packet of Woodbines,
Like a good pinch of snuff,
Like a night out in Accy,
Like a greasy chip butty,
Oh Accrington Stanley,
Come thrill me again...

All their own words. ;)
Yes, I also sing Oh Sheffield United when we sing GCB…because it makes more sense, as we are singing it to our beloved team.

1. We actually nicked their songs.
2. The visible universe is actually a facade, and reality as we think we know it is a mere wisp of imagination within the dream of a floating terrapin.
"Dream of a floating Terrapin" 😁 Sounds like a great prog rock concept album.
Loving your imagination mate🤣

..we are so proud we shout it out loud we are the Blades, Blades, Blades!!!
Yes I vaguely remember this too, but did we sing it independently or just hijack their version when we played them, by just shouting Blades Blades Blades at the end of it.

We sang it regularly throughout the 80s, not just when we played Leeds. I didn't even realise it was a Leeds song at first.
