Did you know that former penalty king and ex-Blade Nick Blackman is currently playing in Spain for Sporting de Gijon? He scored against Valencia on Tuesday in his side's 2-1 home win in the Copa Del Rey.
Not that many British ex-Blades end up playing in Spain. In fact I can't think of any! He may well be the first.
Played in Israel last year too.
Credit to him for getting out his comfort zone.

Osasuna! Of course, I remember reading an interview with him about that. He said loads of fans turned up outside his house to welcome him to the club.See that. Raise you one Rob Ullathorne.
First time I've heard of that. I was in the Rat Race in 2009. But, I am happy to report my Spanish Beer Ticks list now stands at 40.http://www.torrevieja.com/eng/torrevieja/82343-sheffield-united-fc-academy-spain.html
Tenuous link but we used to run an academy in Spain going back a few years now. The latest reference I can find on it goes back to 2009 in the link above. Just out of shot in the picture on the website is Ball_Sup (Phil) with a duty free carrier bag sampling a local cerveza. Do you know what became of it Phil?
