Nice touch Chris

I thought it was a nice touch at the end of yesterday's game for Chris to push young Regan towards us to get some applause and give him a chance to do the touching of United badge thing. A Blade to a Blade kind of gesture, nice one!

Mind you with our current midfield absences I'm not sure our leader should have been so vigorous and hefty. A simple directional and fatherly arm next time Chris!

He did similar with Brookseh when we paraded the trophy last season, he likes the youngsters to get the plaudits. He likes them to feel that adulation. He also praised Regan's proper tackle yesterday saying it was "made in sheffield"

His post match interview with Radio Sheffield is very amusing towards the end when the interviewer asks him about Leonard

For all CWs tactical nouse / signings and his ability to manage that I believe are way above championship standard.

I think the main thing that adheres him to all fans is that he hasn’t forgotten his Sunday league roots where a good hard fair tackle is applauded more than a 60 yard goal.

Watching the highlights of the FA cup games it made me realise that we could more than hold our head up in the Premier League. To field a second string team and get a result shows how good our squad is and unlike the piggies they play with passion and commitment. Obviously there has been a hiatus recently but this will pass.

And by virtue of the fact that we played effectively a second string side that night which included Eastwood in the net, both Freeman AND Baldock, Evans and Lav up front and none of our first team midfield trio (including a new to the side Brooks and Lundstrum).

We were certainly second best (after a good start), but that match wasn't reflective of anything.

Personally think our first 11 would have a good chance of staying safe and it would not be dissimilar to this season. We're more than the sum of our parts and our system would result in us surprising a fair few.

Heard commentary on it during the match, great to hear Edwards praising it and proper tackles in general. Did spring to mind about Johnnie Fleck's proper tackles in recent weeks that have imo resulted unfairly in a red and two yellow cards.

And here comes the other side of the coin, when they have first team players out they still managed to exploit our weaknesses. How many people on this forum put our down turn in form in the league to losing one player? I thought this was daft but losing 3 players (Coutts, Baldock, Freeman) we can see a degradation in the first team. Then we lost 4 (Fleck) etc. As much as you can argue it was 2 reserve sides, football more than ever is a squad game. Could our first 11 take Swansea or West Brom? Probably. Stoke, Southampton not so sure. But as soon as we start losing players from the first 11 the chances of picking up anything from a game drop off very quickly.

I think we already know that Championship teams don't have the strength in depth for the premiership.

I'll stick with my theory that this game told us two tenths of fuck all about anything.
