Next Seasons Shirt - Mockup of a 125 years anniversary shirt

One of the best things about the Avec shirt it the shield for our logo instead of the unimaginative circle. An Avec style kit with an added collar would be the muts nuts. Also with Adidas a nice touch would be for the "3 stripes" on the shoulder to be black.

We've not had a good, "traditional" home kit for years though. I like this season's effort, it's certainly better than the crap we've put up with recently.

2014/15: 5/10 - not enough stripes, central adidas logo, awful sponsor logo, Blades badge too far over and too low down (looks like an afterthought)

2013/14 4/10: awful top section, misaligned macron logo and United badge
View attachment 13467

2013/14 7/10: decent stripes, good use of black but why are the badge and macron logos central?
View attachment 13468

2011/12 7/10: decent effort from macron (nb most of the pictures showing the Westfield Health logo were of a certain former striker so I've had to use the launch picture which predated the sponsorship deal]:

2010/11: 5/10 - whose idea was it to put the white bar across the middle?
View attachment 13470

2009/10: 5/10 - just not a great shirt.
View attachment 13471

2008/09: 4/10 - what the hell is that squiggly white line all about? And why are the stripes different widths?
View attachment 13472

2007/08 5/10: sponsor logo too high and random mesh elements while black doesn't really fit in. However, the red and white stripes, badge and Le Coq logos are all good
View attachment 13473

2006/07: 5/10 - a potentially good shirt ruined by placing the Blades badge and Le Coq logos too low and too wide while the Capital One logo is again too high

So in the last 10 years the best two kits we've had (aside from this year's) have been flawed. It seems that grasping that a Sheffield United shirt should be simple red and white stripes is beyond Le Coq Sportif, Macron and adidas so far.

Something like this. Perfect.

A good synopsis but you said last years had not enough stripes but it has the same number as your favourite the avec.

The avec one has stripes on the sleaves and all the way around . Last seasons has 1 red stripe and 2 white ones, with the rest of the body and sleaves being a chunk of red.

That unimaginative circle is our club logo. The only thing 'wrong' with that Avec shirt is the stupid shield that it became gimmicky to put all club badges in during the 90s. Best thing about the Avec shirts were the integrated logos rather than a big sweaty patch of goo stuck to the front.

Every single one of those shirts is better than what we have now.

I agree 1996-7 was the best though. A classic.

A good synopsis but you said last years had not enough stripes but it has the same number as your favourite the avec.

The Avec one kept the same width stripes but increased the number depending on the size of the shirt. In my size it had an extra strip of white down the sides (not quite as much as in the picture below.

I'm going to respectfully disagree on your first point. I don't get the anger directed towards our current kit - it's a decent design and does have its roots in our original kit. Objectively I think it's a much, much nicer kit than pretty much all the ones that I've posted above but if you're of the "Sheffield-United-must-play-in-red-and-white-stripes-or-they're-not-United" persuasion I can understand why you don't like it.

1997-98 was another classic, while we're on the subject. Same number of stripes as last year but somehow the addition of the black elements makes the design great as well as the fact that the Le Coq and United badges are level.

So good a shirt that Marcelo wore two of them.

You're right. I don't mind the current kit. It is just not appropriate for a United home kit.

2007/08 & 2008/09 best kits we've had whilst I've been watching the blades in my opinion...

Our 2005/06 promotion kit was a very good design but the actual quality of the shirt was crap
