No one has touched on the fact that we have no academy players to sell this coming close season. How is that going to impact on the budget?

Badly - i suspect next season we are operating on a transfer budget of zilch - or in other words we have to break-even by selling players for money greater or equal to any incomings.

My bets would be on Ward (given any sort of offer of around £2m and he'll be off in a shot!), Sharp, Hendo (would anyone else be mad enough to bid over £1m?) and... *struggles to think of anyone else worth summat*...uhm...Willo (possibly) or Quinn (god hoping!).

Can't imagine many more would be interesting other clubs for the sort of money we'd be asking in order to satisfy i) the club ii) and the fans without us looking even more up the creek financially...

We may however, not have to make such drastic changes, as i imagine a lot of costs will be saved in the wages of expired contracts alone (Camara, Harper, Monty, Bennett, Naysmith, loanee's etc etc)...*touch wood*

I suspect a bigger problem will be getting enough bidders/money for the other players who are no longer needed/of the required quality, instead of grabbing the money for players we would rather keep...(i'm thinking along the lines of Taylor, Stewart, France, Reid here...)

UTB!

Think most other clubs in the Championship will be the same. If we hold onto the core of the team, with a new manager and a few youngsters I think we'll be pushing for the playoffs.

All we've got is

Morgs
Monty [but needs a new contract]
Paddy [no one knows how good he will be]
Hendo [some think he's a donkey]
Cresswell [not sure how long his contract is for]
Billy [will he come back or FO?]
Williamson [not much of a hero is he?]
Wardy

Rest can fuck off and not be missed

Blackie, tha's not left us much to crow about has tha?

Its a big assumption that it will have any impact at all. The sale of the Kyles was just a wind-fall. A club with more money than sense made us an offer we couldn't refuse. Apart from Mellis, who have we sold out of the academy for more than a few bob?

Going to be very interesting to see who starts coming into the club when the loanees all go home. I wonder if we will see Wedgebury, Lowton and the rest of the kids starting to get a few minutes before the end of the season...

You're not likely to see any young players come through under KB unless they are exceptional in the youth team (e.g. in the Naughton/Walker mould). Anyone who looks like they MIGHT be able to step up won't get a sniff because he hasn't got the bottle to give them a go.

United will do what they usually do. We'll sign 2 or 3 players on a free, sign a couple for 300K a piece and then loan a couple, whilst adding 6 more short term loans through the course of the season to patch it up. What we're seeing now is probably what we're going to get for a while to come..........

YAWN

Just a windfall? Spent it wisely didn't we?

Or did it go on a few shopping centres for Scarboro' Group?

You can't just dismiss it as a findfall because next season there won't be a windfall and we're spending at the pigs level. It's shit.

Tonge and Jags put money in the pot. So will Monty if sold but whe else? It impresses me how you keep your chin up Dunc.

It makes me shudder to think what state we would be in without the sales of;

Davis
Kilgallon
Leigertwood
Hulse
Stead
Jagielka
Armstrong
Howard
Tonge
Beattie
Walker
Naughton
Cotterill
Bromby
Kazim-Richards

Have I missed anyone? That lot must equate to about £30 million by my estimation. I know some of it is recouped on purchases but only maybe 20% or so. That considered HOW MUCH DEBT DID WE HAVE????!!!!

Davis (recouped what we sold him for - unbelievably...)
Kilgallon (250k loss?)
Leigertwood (250k loss?)
Hulse(recouped money i think)
Stead (500k loss)
Jags( 4m profit)
Armstrong (250k profit)
Howard (swap with harper)
Tonge(1.5m profit)
Beattie( 1.5m loss)
Walker & Naughton (8m profit)
Cotts (1m loss?)
Bromby (Christ knows)
Kaz - (1m profit)

Not made as much as you would have thought.

You forgot little Alan Quinn as well.

Don't forget we included the Tevez money (that we haven't received) in last years accounts and we still made a loss.

We're fooked.

That’s why I’m worried about next seasons budget as I can't see any substantial amount/s of money coming in and this season’s money gets brushed off as a ‘windfall’. I think we are in trouble budget wise, even more so if McC gets an offer of property put to him [like the £35M deal] that is too good to pass on.

Whoever the manager is, they will be forced to bring in free transfers and make loan signings. I can't imagine we would pay a transfer fee on more than two players at the very most this summer and those fees a likely to be modest.

I don't care what the budget is like or how much of it is available for players, so long as whoever is in charge gets a decent group together and gets the best out of them.

We've done it before and we can do it again. But it requires a change of management I'm afraid.
