I’m bored. In a hypothetical world where we qualify for Europe this season, what would your ideal (realistic) 25 man squad be? Remember U21 players don’t count in the 25

GK - HENDERSON / Verrips / Dewhurst

RWB - Baldock / BOGLE

RCB - Basham / Retsos

CB - Egan / Jagielka

LCB - O’Connell / Robinson

LWB - Stevens / DASILVA

LCM - Fleck / Freeman

CDM - Norwood / Berge

RCM - Lunny / LALLANA

ST - Mcburnie / Mousset

ST - EZE / DENNIS

23 - Osborn
24 - Sharp
25 - Mcgoldrick

I think that would leave us pretty stacked with at least two players for each position to cover loss in form/injuries/suspensions over 4 competitions.

Henderson - loan, probably 3 million for the year.

Bogle - young right back from Derby, quick, strong, gets forward and young. He would put pressure on Baldock and probably dislodge him in 2 or 3 seasons time. I’d say 4 million upfront, 3 million after 50 games for us and 3 million for 5 England caps.

Da Silva - went to Bristol City from Chelsea last season and I’ve always liked the look of him. Still pretty young and would be similar to Bogle in terms of putting pressure on Stevens with a view to taking his place in a couple of years. 7 million would be good business.

Lallana - he’s out of contract at the end of the year, knows Mcgoldrick from his time at Southampton too. He is completely two footed and while there are question marks over his energy levels being what we need in our RCM role, he would enable us to tweak the system if we wanted to play with two CDM (Berge and Norwood) with him further forward. His wages are crazy at Liverpool but we could offer him 3 years at 70k a week which would equate to around 10 million quid over three years, which is probably around his value in the market.

Eze - everyone knows all about him by now. He would be a brilliant signing for around 17.5 million. They know they can’t keep him and he would probably be well advised to join a club like us to showcase his talents before making a massive money move in 2 or 3 years.

Dennis - I’ve not seen loads of him but know he’s absolutely rapid and is scoring for fun for Brugge including two against Real in the champions league. He wouldn’t personally be on my radar but I know we are heavily linked with him. Seems like a similar player to Mousset. Not sure on the fee, probably around 15 million.

That’s a lot of money spent, but we spent about 40 odd million last summer so I don’t think it’s totally unrealistic.

Outgoing:
Moore
K. Freeman
Rodwell
Morrison
Duffy
Holmes
Clarke
Robinson.

Lallana, no chance.

Also Retsos would be capable as RWB, which is his primary position over Centre half, so that nullifies the need for Bogle.

Eze - 1 - no chance of acquiring him as he'll be going to somewhere like Spurs, 2 - seen QPR on TV 5/6 times last season and he was anonymous everytime.

I enjoy reading ideas on who we should sign but the OP has shown his age with even setting out payment plans for dealings.

Bogle would be £10million for a reserve right back
Restos we have seen for 20 minutes
Da Silva isn’t very good
Lallana goes pretty much against all of our signings with CW
Eze I do like but not sure he ends up with us and he plays in midfield albeit attacking player.
Dennis I like but meant to be some huge clubs in for him.

Personally I dont see us spending big money this coming window.

No point speculating unfortunately. Nobody has any idea what the transfer market will be.

If we keep all the players we want to, sign Retsos, get Henderson back and find some low cost competition for RWB, ST (unless it's Zivcovic) and central midfield I'd be happy enough. There are going to be a lot of EFL clubs who have to sell to survive, that'll be our market.

Yay we finally get Flecks boss - Barry Bannan

Retsos (£10m) / Wolfenden (£1m) can occupy either RCB/RWB cover. Ben Gibson loan to buy from Burnley to deputise for Egan.

I could actually see us taking up Besic (£4m) permanent and using Osborn for cover too, instead of another big midfield purchase

Emmanuel Dennis £20m

£35m total spend, with maybe a £10m leeway on the Dennis transfer and a couple of fringe development players poached from lower league clubs taking it to £50m, i reckon it is do-able even after covid

GK - HENDERSON / Verrips / Dewhurst

RWB - Baldock / RETSOS

RCB - Basham / WOLFENDEN

CB - Egan / GIBSON

LCB - O’Connell / Robinson

LWB - Stevens / Osborn

LCM - Fleck / Freeman

CDM - Norwood / Berge

RCM - Lunny / BESIC

ST - Mcburnie / McGoldrick

ST - DENNIS / Mousset

23 - Sharp
24 - C.Robinson
25 - Jagielka

I saw Woolfenden and £1million and realised this is a football manager 2020 simulator.
