Lets hope that the old saying that luck even itself out does happen as we are going to need some in the next few away matches at Wigan,Swansea,Norwich,Villa, West Brom,Pigs and Leeds !!
How many points can we get out of that ?I think I would be happy with 7 in total especially if 3 of those were at the sty !

Don't fancy us vs West Brom, Villa and Leeds
Fancy us vs Wigan and Swansea

Norwich looks like a difficult one but they have injury problems, and just conceded 4 at home to Derby, so maybe aren't as strong as we think.

Pigs I have no idea. Derby games are already incredibly unpredictable, and given they will have a new manager in soon we have no idea how they'll set up or the state of play/form when we meet.

I think the way we play lends itself to decent away results.

We're arguably far better when teams attack us because we can play our expansive game.

When teams 'sit in', we tend to find them harder to break down as there is less space to exploit and often our build up play can be too slow to catch teams unawares and we also have limited pace to create space.

Having teams attack us is a good thing.

Don't think 7 points will be enough from 21

I couldn't agree more!

This is what I was talking about the other day though on another thread. We've got a team that is playing great football, the best I've seen from a Sheffield United team for 50 years, we are firmly placed in the top 6 in the table, we've just won two big games and in some style as well, and we have fans who think that we will only take 7 points out of the next 21 available. They may be right of course. Football is a strange game and anything can happen. However, if we can't be positive about this team that we've got, then I really do think it's time to pack up and take up a different hobby altogether, because no Sheffield United team in my living memory has ever made me feel more confident.

^^^^^^^ THIS
We spend far too much time worrying about the opposition. Villa and Norwich score for fun but they are both dodgy at the back. Swansea have tailed off, Pigs got a result at WBA, Wigan are in a poor run of form, the pigs won’t park the bus at home and if Hulll can get a result at Leeds then why can’t we?
EVERY game is winnable for me

Never lucky ? I thought we were doing ok this year, the pen at QPR and every shot 'flying in' vs Villa spring to mind.

You're right.

It's the premise of every football fan though, no matter which team they support, to think that their team is especially unlucky. Yet often these same fans believe that "things even themselves out over a season". :tumbleweed: That's a kind of logic I find very hard to understand!

I think Sheffield United have had some cruel luck, but whether that is more than other teams I really do not know. In any event, it's not a reason for being unsuccessful, not in any walk of life. I believe that, to a large extent, you make your own luck.

When bad luck does strike though, there is no evidence at all that good luck will follow and everything will even itself out over a season.

If you believe in luck and superstition then you might as well get the telling bones out and become a witch doctor. Or try reading the tea leaves. Because that's just as relevant.

Which of those games have had the KO's changed to suit Sky...........let me guess 6 of the 7.

Could some S24SU stato do a look see for results when we KO at 3pm versus any other KO time.

Wigan is at 3 pm. Swansea has been changed. Norwich is at 3 pm although its the 4th round of the cup that day so will probably be changed to a midweeker. Villa has been changed. West Brom, Pigs and Leeds haven't been changed yet because Sky not announced that far ahead but will be. So your "guess" is probably right!!

Lets wait and see who we bring in in January ,may change opinions, either way!

Fancy us to win at Wigan and Swansea...

Norwich are involved in freak results every week it appears so owt could happen there but I genuinely think they are starting to stutter so we may well just catch them at the right time...Blades win

Villa will be difficult....draw.....and if it is the West Brom that was at our place a few weeks ago I can't see us getting anything there....that said, the Pigs nearly beat them on Saturday but I can see this being a narrow defeat.

Pigs = a very nervy 1-1 draw and if Hull can beat Leeds at their place we certainly can but I will say another draw.

Think Leeds are flaky at home and Norwich concede too many goals. If we can hang onto West Brom’s coattails I think we’ll go up in auto spots.

There are Red Button matches but ours isn’t on the list on Sky at the moment. No idea if that means we will or won’t be though.

Doesn’t look like it DronnieBlade :-(. Sky website says they have 4 other games on the Red Button but not ours. Think they can only show so many which is why they were splitting the midweek fixtures between Tuesdays and W*******ys.

Maybe a bit but compared to our bad luck results especially against the top clubs is very disappointing - or is it not bad luck but bad play ? I guess missing a penalty against the pigs was not bad luck but bad play

The next seven *away* games, which is a crucial difference.

We're on 44 points and therefore probably need about 30 from the remaining 21 game to have a chance at the playoffs. That's about 1.5 points per game. In that context, drawing all seven of these difficult away games would be fine as long as we keep winning against the weaker teams at home.

We have some very tough looking fixtures. I know there all tough but
Leeds, West Brom, Norwich, Swansea, Villa, Birmingham, Pigs all away is as tough looking as it gets, and you can now add Hull City to that

Home games against play off contenders QPR, Middlesboro, Forest,
So it's going to be tough at home as well

Just the time to play them when we’re in form , especially your mob from S6
