They build you up, and knock you down. It's the Blades way.

On current form, we should win this, hence why we are the bookies favourites. At the end of the day, I think everyone knows realistically all results are possible and just looking forward to the day!

I'll go for a 2-1 Blades win though

Charlton are up for this. Make no mistake they have had a pants season and they want to do something for their fans. They had two distinct advantages over us. Firstly they play in a higher division and therefore are used to better teams week in week out, they have had an upturn in form lately as well beating QPR with a clean sheet. They are under no elusions about us either as they will not be complacent. Secondly they did not have a mid-week game, so are rested.
The obvious counter to point one is that we have played teams of that level and above and come up trumps, secondly Cloughy nailed his colours to the mast last night with 6 changes, he wants to win it as well. Not just for the glory but also for the cash for next season. But is Brayford really too injured to play? is Harry too injured (or was it to protect him from the suspension?) and how is Murphy? He tried to rest Flynn last night. Misfortune stopped that.
So if those four are in on Sunday I think we have a better chance especially with the improved performance across the squad in particular Doyle. But it is not nailed on I wouldn't consider booking a hotel in North London just yet.

The critical factor to me will be maintaining concentration in the charged atmosphere of a 30k plus crowd.
Our formation makes us strong and resolute in defence and that will be the key again for us getting a result on Sunday.

Charlton are struggling to score goals at the moment - their last minute winner versus QPR was a bit of class form their best player, Jackson, and let's face it the defending for both goals vs Pigs was woeful. However, I believe they will be able to field Tudgay on Sunday and, as we know to our cost, he is a capable player on his day - able to create summat out o' nowt.

If we get the first goal I am sure that the crowd momentum will drive us on to win and their fragile confidence (a consequence of being where they are in their division) may be an overriding factor preventing them from coming back at us. If we concede first I think we might struggle to break them down if Murphy is not able to start. It's critical that we can get around the back of their defence as that's an area they are particularly vulnerable.

Whatever happens it's exciting to contemplate the possibilities, though, isn't it?.
FFS I can't remember the last time I had that sensation :o

If we win its fantastic, we lose "it's expected as charlton are a championship side" we draw its another payday, so to that end is this Sunday a win/win/win situation?
Personally I think a blades win is on the cards but my disappointment will not be to deep with either of the other two results, tbh with fixture congestion the very worst result would be a draw IMHO but by no means a disaster .
I'll just enjoy the ride for the distraction it has been, que sera sera

But is Brayford really too injured to play? is Harry too injured (or was it to protect him from the suspension?) and how is Murphy? He tried to rest Flynn last night.

Saw the three of them walking to the dugouts last night and all looked good to me.. Also spoke to Brayford on Monday night and he told me he is very much looking forward to playing on Sunday and knew he wouldn't be playing last night. (Tuesday) its mainly Nigel and his tactics.. He's good at those :)

Play with freedom and feel the wind blowing through your hair on a crisp BDTBL day. In front of a cacophonous Kop with the faint weeping of failure from the distant Sty.

Today is destiny, tomorrow the prize.

Up the fucking Blades

COYRAWW

There is no question that both teams will be up for it because of the prize at stake the question which sides will turn up the Charlton team that beat pigs or the Charlton side for 80% of there season. The same with us if the team that beat Forest turns up and performs then i think we will sneak it but if the beat that play Crewe, Notts county or Walsall turns up then its all over.

In Sir Nigel we trust

I predict Murphy and Maguire will be fit and start.

Brayford I doubt. Although Im clinging on to the hope it'll be one of those instances where we're all made to feel like he'll be out for a while but then named in the starting 11 to give us an extra boost.

Last night has just fuelled the eagerness for Sunday to hurry up.

Little bit on our side as id imagine most won't be familiar;

Recently we've been taken over by the owner of Standard Liege who has a network of clubs. We seem to be his no.2 in line, so we've had a small influx of SL players.

Hamer is our goalkeeper, who had a 'worldie' against Wednesday. He's currently got a beard to match Brayfords.

Defensively, we've been ok. Centre half pairing of Morrison and Wood (both ex-Wednesday) are physical and steady. Wiggins is a great left back, and likes to get forward. Wilson has been arguably one of our best players this year as a make-shift RB, due to long term injury of our best player and twice POTY Chris Solly.

In midfield, we've had a bit of a renaissance. Two products of our academy will hopefully start in the middle, Jordan Cousins (who can also play RM) and Diego Poyet (son of Gus). Out wide is anyones guess, but likely to be Jonnie Jackson (although he could play CM, where Powell seems to prefer him), or another one of our youth products Calum Harriott. Tudgay has also recently joined on loan and can play outwide.

Upfront has been a massive problem for us this season. Just 24 league goals this season says it all. Adjarevic, on loan from SL, is likely to start behind Simon Church. We also have on loan Standard Lieges Iranian international who's first name is Reza, I won't attempt his surname, but he's yet to score.

Powell is often accused of playing 'hoofball' but since the sale of Yann Kermogant and the arrival of the very skilful Adjarevic, plus Diego Poyet playing well above his years, we have slightly removed that from our game.

Cheers mate. I actually know all this due to a charlton-supporting housemate but should b useful for other blades. I went to watch you earlier in the season against Blackpool actually. I can say, hand on heart, that was the worst game of football I have ever paid to watch. 0 shots on target from either team, I'm assuming you won't be that bad on Sunday!

I think you're a decent side now and tgen, but as my mate will comfirm, your season smacks of our relegation season too. I think you really lack a goal scorer which is so costly. Jackson is a class above most, and heard good things about poyet.

I also think Hamer is a little suspect actually, despite his performance at wednesday. On reflection ofcourse you have a better squad as you're in the championship, but would suggest: Maguire, Scougall, Brayford and Coady would all get in your side. I hear Harriot looks a real prospect too.

0 shots on target, sounds very familiar mate!

Jackson has come under a bit of criticism this season funnily enough, many fans saying his legs have gone etc, but time and time again he seems to come through and scores important goals. Poyet, i think he'll be gone in the summer and although he's only played 5 games for the first team, he oozes quality.

This season is a case of now hoping there are 3 teams worse than us. I can see the fact we've got 4 games in hand being a problem, saturday/tuesday every week from now on, with a paper thin squad is not ideal.

I watched the Fulham replay, and will admit thats the only time I've seen you this year, and agree that Brayford looks an excellent player and without causing offence, far too good for L1 football.

Sunday form goes out the window though, and with a big atmosphere and a place at Wembley at stake, anything can happen.

I think we can exploit the lack of mobility at the heart of the Charlton defence. Scougall, Flynn and Murphy playing on those two might give us some success.

What did you make of the sale of Kermogant? I always thought he looked capable and see he scored a hatrick at the weekend.

You are not causing offence. You like ourselves have not had a great time since we were relegated from the Prem. We are in this division. Brayford is to good for it, as is Maguire, Scougal, Murphy and Flynn who hopefully come back into contention on Sunday. Its really good to hear from you, its nice to hear from decent supporters of other clubs. I can't wish you luck though.

Ah - the old Belgian feeder club route - Beware!

On form, Blades should win. But this is the cup. I think it could be quite a cagey affair to start. If United score first, then I can't see us losing. If Charlton score first then it'll be a proper good game of football, like the Forest game. Looking foward to a huge game at the Lane, and almost certainly a sell-out.

Its a strange one really. He was seen as a bit of a cult hero, and when the rumours started people weren't happy. Apparently he was offered a new contract, but it wasn't enough money, then an improved offer came in and he turned it down again. Different stories from him and the club have come out about the whole saga. Personally, i wanted him to stay till the end of the season but whats done is done.

I see, he was a big lad him. I remember him coming on as a sub at the lane when you went up. He had muscles in places I dont have places. Oh and then he scored the winner ffs.

I can't agree. I will be deflated with a draw and devastated with a loss. We wont get another chance like this for a long, long time.

He came on when Charlton had a corner at the Lane End, he was jogging to the penalty box and then headed in the corner to give them the lead

But it's fun, so much better than the pigs thinking they were in the semi already and coming up short.

Randomly, this could be the TV game of the weekend and yet it was the last choice for the cameras.

Reality check yes you are in form which I applaud it but if a big if,our so called strikers find the goal on sat nav we will win having shite season but should have to much quality for you, come on you reds, addicts, valiants, robins,to many lol basically CHARLTON to win, then concentrate on beating the scum the week after and getting to safety,

If memory serves, heard the same when we played Villa, Fulham, Forest, all recognised strikers, and they had no idea how to see daylight let alone offer a serious threat....reality check? Those are facts mate

Agreed you're great run has to come to a end,if at our best we will win,if you can't get up for a cup game then you should give the game up,COYA

Only difference with above mentioned, they score lots of goals we have proven track record this season of scoring hardly feck all LOL
