Few of my realistic(ish) suggestions. I think "league experience" is a bit over-rated. I'm more interested in managers being good tacticians, preferably with decent backroom experience shadowing top-class managers.

Wilfried Nancy (Columbus Crew) - Got Columbus Crew playing really attractive football. He's known for being the tactician of the MLS, but is really well liked by the players too. Might catch the owners eye, as he's won a few cups in the past few season.

Pep Lijnders (Unattached) - Klopp's former number 2. Didn't work out at Red Bull Salzburg, but he's a smart guy with a clear philosophy. Lot of the best managers started as number 2 to the great managers.

Ian Cathro (Estoril) - Scottish former assistant manager to Rafa Benitez and Nuno Santo. Moved to Portugal to manage Estoril and has impressed. Only 38, so could have a fresh approach.

Rob Edwards (Unattached) - No idea what the hell happened this season, but worked miracles at Luton. Maybe just needs a fresh project.

Kevin Muscat (Shanghai Port) - Been successful managing in Australia, Japan and China. Proper nasty bastard who has relaxed with age, but could still keep a bit of that Wilder fire.

An interesting and largely left field list.

Muscat was very close to getting the Rangers job when Clement got it. Done well abroad yep. Can see the appeal there.

If McCabe was still here it would be stuck on to be Rob Page.

Whoever the latest flavour of the month young manager is. Is it still Carrick? Or Will Still? Whoever it is, I want him and everyone else is a dinosaur as far as I'm concerned.

Christophe Wilderinho after CW changes his name by deed poll. It'd be funny to see the snobs, jilted brides, and anti English xenophobes automatically lauding the current manager (who's doing a superb job) when he comes back in foreign attire, playing the same football with similar results.

Or get cheque book Slav back. He's a misunderstood genius apparently 🤣.

Cooper
Mousinho
Still
Dyche
Hessenhutl
O'Neil
Eustace, though he's Derby mad

Only one for me and its Cooper, But also liked the way the Plymouth manager came across is he up to the standard we need not too sure Also we then get away from the players wilder has been watching for the last few years

anyone other than Dyche being on that list…(especially them forrin ones…)IMG_4603.webp

Cathro was an unmitigated disaster @ Hearts
& not sure his Estoril record (w10; d10; l10) is (sufficiently) “impressive”
He was assistant during McClaren’s (disastrous) Spewcastle spell but (somehow) avoided the sack when ‘’Schteeev’ was punted, hence the Benitez association.
‘Conventional’ wisdom (sic) is he’s a decent coach but struggles with ‘pure’ management receiving criticism due to ‘technical’ playing style (think David Weir) his age (still less than 40 yo) limited playing experience & lack of dynamism / motivational ‘skills / intensity - perhaps a welcome attribute not getting involved in a stramash with opponents or ‘debates’ with (his own club’s) fans?!?!?

  • Liam Rosenior 12/1
  • Steven Gerrard 12/1
  • Liam Manning 14/1
  • Dean Smith 16/1
  • Frank Lampard 16/1
  • Gary Rowett 18/1

  • Marti Cifuentes 22/1
  • Dave Challinor 25/1
  • Phil Parkinson 25/1

He was, but to be fair that was 9 years ago and I believe Cathro was 29. I couldn't look after a fish at 29, never mind a football club.

Estoril are a tiny, tiny club. They get about 3,000 fans in each week, but he has them mid-table. He's doing a good job.

Not my favourite pick from the list though (that would be Wilfried Nancy).
