I'd rather have Monty in midfield any day than the ginger geek. Compared to the ginger one he's Zinedine fooking Zidane! :loopy:
I agree. Elpiton achieves the seemingly impossible: He is worse than Monty. Yet our daft manager happily has the pair of them in his team!

It reveals a lot about Blacko the Clown and also about those of you who are prepared to put up with such rubbish.

The fans don't pick the team and presuming you go to the matches, you are prepared to put up with it the same as everyone else surely???

:)

Blackwell wont be sacked & he wont leave until Xmas at least, when Mr Birch has settled in.

We put up with it because we have to, not because we want to.

Monty would be in my first 11 every day of the week. People seem to completely ignore what he does for the team and before he got injured was actually the one doing his own job aswell as the attacking side of the midfield. Centrally and on the wings.

I put up with it on match days and support the team as fervently as I can. Outside of that I make as much noise as I can to anyone who will listen about Blacko's ineptitude and the severe limitations of many of his players.

The more of us that make it clear that the crap we are served up week after week is totally unacceptable to the third highest fanbase in the league, the more likely that those able to change things will do so. One day, if enough of us try, we may just get football back.

Just 'putting up with it' is a philosophy of despair.

What are you doing then to change things?

we should get 9points from them games if we want to finish in top 6. But with blackwell in charge more like 3 if wee are lucky

What are you doing then to change things?
Talking to people who will listen and may talk to others; Writing to people who will read and may write to others.

Doing all the things that have developed ideas and changed policies all through history.

Not 'putting up with it'. It's our club. We'll be around long after Blacko has thrown his last custard pie at the Lane. Someone has to expose the uncomfortable truths, otherwise we are not Blades but mere sycophants.

Che Guevara hated hoofball!

It doesn't reveal anything about fans that can see he's quite clearly the best defensive central midfielder we have at the club (and have had for a while). Those fans that can also see that our defence gets very little protection, midfield loses bite and opposition players get free licence to set themselves up, run 20 yards with it and pass/shoot/score without him in the side. Until Williamson has had a chance to show what he can do on a regular level I'll be looking forward to Monty coming back and even then I'd like to see them given a chance together because Harper's performances have left a lot to desire up to now. Harper manages to hide for long periods of every game and has lost s man for countless recent goals conceded, Monty will never hide and works for 90 minutes covering more ground, putting in more blocks and breaking up more attacks than any other player most weeks.

If these fans had any say whatsoever about who we signed then I'd have more time for your viewpoint but we don't, that is down to the succession of managers we've had in the last few years. Each of whom have chosen to concentrate on strengthening other areas ahead of his. If we had an essien, roy keane or viera sat on our bench behind him then I'd say we shouldn't "put up" with Monty. Until that time should ever come; once upon a fairytale, those fans that appreciate him will continue to do so without any remorse or out of any sense of duty.

Monty is Monty!
Very poor at passing the ball!
Very poor at controlling the ball!
Hasn't a clue of what to do when he has the ball !
Very Poor at shooting!
Scores very few goals!
Gives 100% every week he plays! and he can man mark very well apart from that he is extremely limited!
Monty is not the saviour everyone thinks he is!
Monty will not get any better!
What does surprise me is that fans go every week and expect him to improve!
Again Monty sums up Blackwell in a nutshell Trys very hard Hasn't the class or the talent to carry it off!

Well, they do say you get what you ask for.

Congratulations! You've won yourself a Monty. Treasure him and he'll give you endless hours of pleasure.

I think if we lose at city and plymouth he may go then. I actually think we will beat forest they have to lose sometime. That gives a new manager 3 weeks to see what he needs in the way of new players.
It would make more sense to remove Blackwell from post now, possibly put Speedie in charge for a couple of games until new manager is in place. He can't do worse than Blackwell, the players probably respect him more and he would have us playing football not hoofball.
This would give the new manager plenty of time to assess the squad before the January window.
Also, has anyone considered that if we sack Blackwell we will have to pay him compensation. Why not re-deploy him instead, to manage one of our other teams in Belgium, Hungary, or China? Saves money.

The fact that Monty will probably walk straight back into the side when fit is what worries me most and as I say is an indicator of the depths we have now plummeted to under Blackwell.
It shouldn't surprise you at all. Blackwell has always had his favourites, who will play week in week out, regardless of form or performances, because they play how he tells them. eg. Quinny, who has had very few good performances in the last 18 months.

I wouldn't put him in charge of Pond Street Under 11's side
But certainly China or Australia is far enough away - the further the better in my opinion!

Blackwell has dropped Quinny quite a few times this season, and with signing Howard,Harper & Williamson shows that he is well aware that Quinny isn't good enough to play CM.

Please tell me these other favourites who Blackwell played week in week out.

Poor compared to who? Quinn with his constant flicks into space, or Killa and Walker with their constant cross-field long-balls to nobody in particular? Sure he is no Zidane but this juvinile approach of trashing somebody to make your point 'stronger' only suggests your view is more emotion than fact.

When you first started talking of redeploying him I was thinking of toliet cleaner or boot cleaner or something ..... however sending him to China is a brilliant idea! Pure genius Darth :D

I would say poor compared to any average standard 2nd tier midfielder.

We are very poor at retaining possesion when Monty plays. This is because his control isn't good (he has to battle to get it back the instant it comes to him unless he's in an acre of space) and his passing inability is legendary.

You can list his good points (we all know what they are) but they will never include instant control, the ability to see or deliver a pass or the ability to use either foot (I realise this last one can apply to 90% of footballers in this country but it is a particular bug bear).

We are very poor at rataining posession most of the time. His control is no where near as bad as what people say.

Watch him on the ball, then look for the players making themselves available/a bit of space. You'll see very very little of it. It's one of the reasons Mr Tonge ended up coming sideways/turning around in circles.

When one of our other midfielders has the ball, have a look who busts a gut to make space or make himself available.

Yes but the good points that i mentioned that we all know about are those that are required of a defensive midfielder in the role we use him. The flaws that he may have (and these are overexaggerated imho) and that you mention above are as you say missing from many footballers in the country - i'd hazard a guess at it being more like 99% of defensive midfielders.

We should and do have other midfielders in the side that are capable of applying skills like these other ones to ensure that their own role is fulfilled. More often than not recently they haven't done that.

Che Guevara hated hoofball!

Che Guevara also hated soap and razors by the look of him, the scruffy get. He did however favour toppling regimes by the means of terrorist action. Will you be down in the car park chanting "AKs out?" ;)

Monty is one of the best players we have because he moves into space. We don't need a passing midfielder as such, we need a team that will move 2 yards to make an opening or an easy pass.
