They are Bristol City away, Plymouth away and Forest at home. We always struggle at City and Plymouth, (particularly Ashton Gate) and Forest are unbeaten on the road in months.

We managed 3 points on Saturday despite a very poor second-half performance that saw us hanging on to a slender lead against the bottom side. If we are a side of true promotion ambition however we should be getting nothing less than 7 points from the next 3 fixtures.

Blackwell will not be able to use the injury card as by his own admission most are nearly back and he will have a “selection problem” by next week-end, (Radio Sheffield interview on Saturday).

I think Blackwell will be given these 3 games to prove that the problems of the last 2 months were down to injuries in part and with a virtually fully-fit squad we should be able to secure the 7 points required. (draw at City, wins at Plymouth and home v Forest???)

Personally I don’t think we will though. On current form I can see us getting a point away at Plymouth and a point at home to Forest if we are lucky and Blackwell will be sacked after the Forest game.

Was talking about this yesterday. Any side with serious ambitions of promotion would be targeting 6 points from the two away games. We'd be happy with 2. In fact I'd say Blackwell would be delighted with two draws.

I think if we lose at city and plymouth he may go then. I actually think we will beat forest they have to lose sometime. That gives a new manager 3 weeks to see what he needs in the way of new players.

I don't want to come over all Mr Pessimism, but I have to say I have more or less given up on promotion this season. I really don't think our squad is good enough. I reckon we will finish 10th-15th.

I hope you are wrong but I have a sneaky feeling you are not. That said there is always a team that comes late and from nowhere, isn't there? :o

Daz, Daz, Daz.

You're a man of stats. What's our longest winning run in history? When Lord Monty returns it's going to be eclipsed no bother.

As is obvious from our outstanding success in his last three games before injury!

Drawn 1, Lost 2

8 goals conceded.

Erm... wasn't Monty's last game against Donny?

So his last 3 games before injury were:

Drawn 2, Lost 1.

Conceeded 6?

The 3 games directly after his injury:

Lost 3.

Conceeded 10.

Or am I forgetting something here?

I said his last 3 games BEFORE injury. He went off injured against Doncaster so it's not fair to hold his terrible performance on that occasion against him.

I suspect you are forgetting that he's not very good. Don't worry, many share your forgetfulness; I don't. I've seen him play too often. He's unforgettable.

He went off at half time. Why do 45 minutes when we conceeded one not count?

Still, ignoring the Donny match, it's then actually:

Won 1, Drawn 1, Lost 1.

Conceeded 7.

But never mind that, just pick some random stats that suit.

I suspect I've seen every single match of his career (barring perhaps the odd one) and seen many of his performances in the reserves too.

Still, I probably have no idea how he plays.

It's definately make or break time for Blackwell. He has stopped the rot with a defeat against Posh, but now it is coming to the crunch.

With Monty, Naysmith and Cresswell coming back from injury he has pretty much a full fit squad. If he doesn't get results in the next few games, as Torrix corrctly points out, he could be on his way.

Personally I think that the teams he has been putting out should have been doing much better and if it was up to me then he'd be gone already. However, others have remained behind him and beilve that he should be given a chance with a full squad. He now has that and hence, if he is the right man for the job and will turn things around, then now is the time.

I wait with bated breath ......

I really can't see us getting much from the next 3 and I think he's then out of excuses. I'd be suprised if he sees Christmas with us.

I look forward to you seeing him many more times in the reserves.

So do I :)

Did you know, the reserves have scored 429 goals in the last five games? 600 of those coming from penalties? ;)

Sorry Beighton, didn't think the accuracy of stats mattered all that much, providing it suited an agenda :)

Blackwell wont be sacked. We should go into every game looking for the 3 points and not setting targets.
This "give him 3 games" then "give him til Xmas" if we do well, then "give him til end of Jan" if we're doing better.
Blackwell will be our manager for the rest of the season. Lets hope we can get enough results to climb the league, stick a run of results together like last season and the one before (we're well capable with a full squad). If Blackwell gets us to the play-ofs we'll all be hapy wont we? And with the fans behind us this will be much more likely than the fans wanting us to lose every match so that he'll be one step closer to the boot.

it can't possibly be stated that Blackwell will be our manager until the end of the season. I think if we lose the next 3 he's gone. Do you have evidence to suggest otherwise? Even if the board are somehow (how can they possibly be?) convinced that he's the man, they can't repel the type of demo's that occurred under Robson. They can't be far away.

I'm a clapper, 90% of the time. I find it hard to muster enthusiasm when we're being lead by a man I've lost faith in. I want us to win, I get behind the team, but any game we win now inevitably feels like just another week of staving off the inevitable.

Good to see I'm not the only one who sees Monty as the parks player he is. I find it quite alarming that there are some awaiting his return as though he's going to be some sort of messiah, just shows what depths Blackwell has now taken us to.

I don't think anyone has said he's a messiah.

Merely that they think the midfield would be more solid and we'd leak less goals with him back.

Dress it up whichever way you want but its pathetic that we are looking to a player as limited as Monty to spark a revival.

We aren't. We are looking at adding some bite in midfield and freeing up someone to venture forward more often.

It's hardly "dressed up" to suggest he could help us and isn't actually a park footballer.

It's slightly more pathetic that we have to make up stats in order to slag off a player who hasn't even played for a month.

The fact that Monty will probably walk straight back into the side when fit is what worries me most and as I say is an indicator of the depths we have now plummeted to under Blackwell.

Given that Monty has been pretty much a fixture since his emergence into the squad. How does it show that we've plummeted?

Do you think that a central pairing of Harper & Quinn is strong enough?

Harper and Williamson could be for me, if Harper pulls his socks up (in more ways than one), but I think the best option at the moment (in my opinion) is Monty & Williamson.

Harper not good enough, Quinn not good enough, Monty not good enough. Don't know about Williamson yet, but considering Blackwell has brought in about 13 or so players and we have no midfield it just shows how useless he is. And you could of course expand this argument to all areas of the team.
