The origins of the McNulty as a drunken waster.

After one of our numerous painful home defeats he was spotted out drinking with some friends/hangers-on/an entourage.

A Blade gave him some grief. Minder/Crony was dispatched to deal with the incident. Preferably by clicking his fingers and pointing wordlessly - if you really want to enhance the story.

Crucial to the whole non-incident is the detail that he was wearing a jumper draped over his shoulders.

And his brother sticks up for him on Twitter.

For this he's George Best - off the pitch at any rate.

Been substituted first half, hope he hasn't got a bad injury.

Can't be good, went off after 25 mins...maybe he tripped over his jumper sleeve :-D

Hope he's ok as I think he's a natural goalscorer and could still have a career at the Lane

No one gets more undeserved stick than sparky. People have a go at him for going on the occasional night out?

just after a sending off - so I am guessing Pompey were reorganising
Very true mate but he'd be the last person you'd take off after his tireless displays down there, i think Cooky fucked up a bit today.

when you are down to 10 men you usually need to sub the player who has the least workrate in the team. Not surprised that it was McNulty
I take it you haven't kept an eye on him whilst he's been down there, he has worked tireless and the Pompey fans love him for this.

Very true, but not relevant when you have the right team, full complement,, geared to playing to his strengths.

I have always said re 1. Edwards. 2. Sharp 3. McNulty, that we have to play a system which plays to these players' strencgths. Do that and they will score.

Play 4-5-1 and these type of talents, and they have rare talents, will be neutered.

Has McNulty the talent of Sharp and Edwards? We'll probably never know.

The last manager seemed to despise McNulty for some reason. If he could diss him post match, he did. Maybe that tells a story - but about whom? the manager or the player??!!

Personally I'd persevere with him. One of our posters once said McNults could be "whatever he wants to be in the game". Wedon't often have players who attract that type of comment ( from a good poster too!).

I hope Cook thinks McNulty is as good as McNulty (and his family and friends ) thinks he is then I hope Cook will put a bid in. Seems you rate him higher than I do

For those that don't rate McNulty as a footballer then this is the ideal scenario, however, for those that rate him and see him as our best natural finisher including myself then i can only see it as a bad decision. We have Billy, Sammon and Higdon though so we have goalscorers in abundance

I have said in here many times that I dont see Billy being a signing that will get us the goals but I rate him higher than McNulty. You seem to think that McNulty is a key player for us in our quest for promotion

He despised him that much ,that he brought him from the wilderness of Scotland ,and gave him 30 odd games ,when he deserved half that. If you are talking about bollockings ,he only played well after he had one and been dropped ,he was incapable of 2 good appearances in a row. I notice the present manager got shut of him 2 months into the season yet you don't mention him despising him.

If you say so, but I do recognise a player who looks into the keeper's eyes and strokes it past him. I love footballers who pass the ball into the net.

If he has other problems then you know better than I?

I've not once said he's a key player in our quest for promotion, find it and i'll hold my hands up. What i have said and i'll stick by it is that McNulty is our best natural finisher, he needs working on but i'd rather us work on bettering McNulty than i would a player of Billys' age group with very similar ability if we had to persist with one of those players.

one his mates stuck up for him on Twitter when he got his hat trick by tweeting the official @SUFC_Tweets account to tell our club to fuck off. That's a step too far IMO and if he has any intentions of remaining with us I would hope he contacted the club to apologise for his dickhead friend, or made said dickhead do so himself.

2 Managers have seen enough to farm him out on loan or only play him sporadically, I'd take their opinion over a "good poster" any day.

At the end of the day we have to reduce numbers. When ever someone leaves there's always a debate as to whether or not the player should stay. McNulty is one who based on his contribution at the Lane, should be sold.

I tend to agree so it must point to attitude/ commitment issues. We really do need a 4th striker.

I would be really quite happy if we had one decent striker to start with tbh ....... at the moment we have an assortment of half-arsed strikers who couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo most of the time .....

UTB & FTP

Eh? How can you be responsible for your mate's tweets?

And whatever it doesn't mean McNulty is drunken waster.

If a friend of mine tweeted my employer (who was paying me very handsomely) and told them to fuck off (and mentioning my name in the tweet) I would take responsibility for ensuring the matter was resolved if I was at all bothered about working for them. No it doesn't mean he's a drunken waster.

Sounds reasonable when you put it like that.

The tweets have stopped now.

Might be something to do with him scoring once in his last six games though .....................................
