new shirt part ll

True enough - those complaining about United having an off the peg Sunday league team kit because they're supplied by Macron should look at Peterborough's new kit. It's an Adidas kit and whiltst I think it actually looks quite good, it's a bog standard design and makes them look like Chelsea. For further reading see also any of this seasons Nike or Puma kits supplied to clubs outide of the Premiership.

If I'm paying £40 for a shirt then I'd much rather have a good quality one made by Nike, Adidas etc than the garbage made by Macron. Plus, all the other gear in the club shop would be much better.

But that is the point WH, the quality isn't superior. It's just that it has NIKE or Adidas on it and the club gets next to fuck all from the club shop.

Would you take a hike on Season Tickets as well as those we've seen on matchday to cover it?

Of course they're better quality. The football shirts I've got that are made by Umbro, Puma, Nike, Adidas are all far, far better than the Macron offering from last season!! Lets take this years England shirts for example. The quality of them is absolutely brilliant. If our shirts were that good I would be very, very happy.

If they got better quality shirts, and better training and casual wear in the club shop, they would sell far, far more and therefore make more money. If they got some decent polo shirts and things then I would certainly spend more money. I wouldn't have any of the current offering of Macron gear if they were giving it away.

I'm fairly sure they would make an absolute mint anyway, it won't cost the club THAT much to buy the shirts that they won't make any money!!!

The club don't get the money from the sale of Nike stuff in the shop. We also have to let them take over the shop, their staff etc.

Well don't get Nike then, simple. Theres plenty of other good kit manufacturers out there. Umbro would be my preference.

Where are you going to get the money from to pay Umbro to make our kit and how are you going to cover the deficit created from getting rid of Macron who pay us a tidy sum?

Honest question I'll be interested in any suggestions you have to cover this two way loss. Not trying to be a smart arse just trying to add a bit of business realism into the debate. Macron pay us quite a lot to make our kits, we get a say and we get a decent chunk of sales. We would have to pay the big name brands to make our kits and they would take a high percentage of all our shop sales. Macron don't do that and we make more profit on the actual kits because they are cheeper for us to stock.

I wouldn't have gone with Macron in the first place. If Wednesday can afford to have someone good then why can't we?

But can they that is the real question.

The same person who did that deal is the one who gave away their sponsorship deal to a local charity while they cried poverty. Logic doesn't seem to have a large influence in their decision making. I would also suggest that the previous Wednesday chairman was all about the style and not the substance. In short fur coat and no knickers mate.

That is actually a very good point. I'll let you have that one! :D

I would guestimate that moving to someone like Nike, Addidas would cost the club over a million a year in lost revenue. Even with selling more kits we wouldn't get a say on the designs, and I don't think we would recover this loss.

Generating money from our assets is something I think we have to trust Mr Birch on, and if it would make us more money I'm pretty sure we'd go for it.

Surely it's more the incompetent fool who couldn't drum up any revenue, so gave away their sponsorship?

Bring back Le Coq Sportif........

Well muppets like me still buy the shirt regardless. Although I didn't buy the 07/08 home shirt as the design was ghastly.

I agree-Macron would definitely not have been my choice, but didn't McCabe say that they offered the most money? And am I right that the club shop profits fund the academy?

It's hard to call really, the Macron stuff is absolute garbage-all the merch and the kits. I've got Avec shirts that still look and feel good, my Macron home shirt is a state.

Umbro make the nicest kits right now, Nike and Adidas are all good too, but the problems with them have already been stated. Surely we will still have Macron this coming season? McCabe won't turn his back on a pot of cash for the quality of a shirt.

Swansea City cancelled their agreement with Macron due to bad quality replica kits, lateness in deliveries and poor sales.

The gave Umbro a ring and they have had a few of the peg shirts but next seasons shirts look very smart, tailored by Umbro and all that:

I'd love us to have Nike or Adidas but they have standardised their shirts now which makes it rubbish.

it's good to have a unique shirt.

I'll give you the shorts (kind of) but the shirts are nothing like. Not even same material

Are you blind?

Shiny material?

Wank Floppy collar?

Same baggy ass fitting style?

Same sleeve hole piping?

Same Stripe width and number of stripes?

The only thing different is the CDL shirt has two tone sleeves whereas ours is block red.

Any money next seasons shirt will be nearly identical to this:

Clearly a lie by the way!

Swansea fans voted for this seasons shirts.

Also this will be their 3rd season wearing Umbro the previous 3 seasons they wore Macron after seeing out a three year deal.

They signed a longer deal than 3 years, but ditched it in favour of Umbro.

They might of voted for it, again better than the option all UTD fans get "look just buy it, it has a blades badge on it"

i thought the design of last season's home shirt was good. Thought it was a good simple design, broad stripes etc.. Better than the one the year before. The away shirt was decent material and again a good design.

Maybe they are off the peg, maybe they're not. The thing is hardly anybody in England wears Macron and the ones that do don't have stripes so it kinda is unique.

Having said that (contradicting myself) Leeds' 3rd

and Forest Green home had stripes and were the same as eachother. Luckily neither were the same as ours. And looking at the Macron site, i don't see that anybody's was.

Originally the kit had plain back and SUFC opted for stripes so we clearly have input in the design.

What's that? Yorkshire masters?

That just shows how bad Leeds' away shirt was. That's horrible

That was the EPL Masters' Malaysia Cup where the team pictured played MUFC, Liverpool and a all stars team.

That shirt is shit.

I like the masters shirt, doesn't look bad. Our first macron home shirt was a nice design, just one of the worst pieces of tailoring ever.

The first team are wearing macron training kits for pre season so that should rule out having a new manufacturer. Fingers crossed for some better quality

I for one believe what FB is saying, so I am looking forward to a seven striped red and white shirt (same width columns as last year) both front and back, though I'm not sure about how a black collar will look. I think stripes front and back and a collar was the favoured option by a number of fans that voted a few years ago. Hopefully the material will be similar to last years away kit because that was far superior to the home kit and anniversary shirt.
I think the choice of a black 2nd kit makes sense because it has no colours from the 1st choice kit so shouldn't clash if we need to change from the 1st choice kit. This should mean that the 3rd kit won't be neccessary at all other than to fleece a few more quid from the fans!
