New Owners Silence

I'd rather we just signed 3 on loan and over-offered on the loan fee than get forced into some loan to buy and tied to a player we're not sold on buying.

If we don’t go up this year then Hamer, Souza and Blaster are gone and we are without the funds to get replacements. This is our best chance of going up in the next decade. If the owners are serious now is the time to go for it. Forget the summer. To quote Bob Geldof we need the money NOW!
Agreed re. Hamer , Souza - but Blaster won’t be going anywhere until this time next year at the earliest. No one will want to pay anything until he can prove his fitness.

People are still missing the point somewhat, this slow in the transfer market as been going on years regardless of owners. We’ve spent three seasons in the premier league, wilder mentioned it years ago but it’s not changed.

The system we are using or the ideological stance we are taking towards transfers is almost identical to when we were in league one, and is the NO.1 reason for our snail pace dealings. We lean far too heavily on a market that is overly expensive and saturated. I’m not asking for a Brentford style scouting system, I’m asking for a system that’s employed by most clubs in the top two divisions, one that takes into account players that aren’t just based in the UK.

Like I said you only have to go through some of the old suggestions threads to see players that have then gone on to become very good players (sure there’s some shite) but the frequency to which some have been able to pick out a player from a bit of data and a youtube highlight reel is quite eye opening and I don’t believe for a second that’s all our requisition team has at there disposal.

IMO What we’re doing is a choice, I won’t be feeling sorry for the management team if it all goes tits up.

No, he was clearly the main target but now Southampton are wanting to add extra terms to the deal we’ve pushed the brakes.
Hence why I asked how far would you go before looking at other options, which were also clearly doing. It’s also evidently clear we’ve several bids in all across the pitch to strengthen.
You seem to be under the impression that we operate our transfer deals in a vacuum where you just agree a price and the deal is done. It’s not a computer game, and sides are looking to get the highest possible return. That doesn’t normally mean a quick result unless you’re going for players no one else wants or you blow everyone out the water and pay over the odds. Hence my question about BBD because I reckon if you pay £15m the deal would be done, but it would be stupid to do so. Same for HC, and Cannon but if you pay over the top then you can’t afford them all. If you get good deals you probably can. Which do you want?
My issue is that we’ve put our eggs in one basket. If Southampton want more for BBD than we can afford that’s fine move on and bid on other targets. I’d like BBD to come but not for silly money and as Southampton are a premier league club they have money to burn. Not all clubs are in a position to turn down good offers for players.

But we’ve not put all our eggs in one basket have we? There’s other deals being worked on but I would assume the fall off in quality from BBD is understandably steep.
Folk moan every year but we get the deals done and if you want quality you have to play the game.
Deals will be done, players will come in.

Why would the fall off in quality from BBD be steep? I like the kid but he’s hardly Ronaldo.

Calm the fuck down! Expect some turbulence in the JTW which is always tough.
The owners will back the manager, and the manager will work through his wish list to a budget.

Playing the long game Is even more difficult when you factor in negotiations and expectations of players, clubs and agents. It will happen, whatever our budget is, but probably not as quickly as everyone would like.

Still a few weeks to go until end of JTW.

Charlie the end of the window is after we've played another 4 games. Thats 20% of the remaining games! We've got a threadbare squad, a number of long term injuries and 3 games in one week coming up. People are worried as Wilder intimated that we would do our business early and have new players in for Norwich. There's still time but its running short.

BBD is wanted by Sunderland and Blackburn and he is undecided where he wants to go. Heard George Hirst is on the radar but all depends on Ipswich signing Jaden Philogene from Villa.

Back to the original post, the silence is understandable, the January Window is like a game of Poker, you don't reveal your hand, if you do in this game you will end up paying significantly more. As for who we are or are not signing, we wont know until it is announced by the club, after 60 odd years I get the cynicism and the wanting new players NOW, but I just think patience is a great virtue. The odds move away from the selling club the nearer the end of January you get, particularly if it is a player they don't see a future for in my opinion. After all, as supporters, we only have opinions and they differ amongst us.

More players like Grbic then ?

Though the Star using AI has already revealed our hand. £ 27 million availabe, alledgedly.
So no wonder selling clubs are adding 10/20% to fees.

I must use AI to make up my numbers for the lottery..

I suppose you could say Brewster is a fine example of what can happen in the transfer market.
It's all a gamble, and no matter how big and respectable the seller may appear to be, given the chance they are still out to rip you off.
For me that one deal played a big part in what happened to the club afterwards .......

The Stars only decent output these days are old Sheffield photos. Ruined somewhat by ads you struggle to get rid of.

Obviously if you’re a fan of restaurant and pubs openings and closures, you won’t agree but it’s now reaching new lows. AI and copy taken from other media sources.

Understand has replaced exclusive and copypaster should replace journalist.

Also after the very little bit of news you scroll down to the next set of news which is classed as “Recommended” and it’s just write ups and affiliate links to Omaze to win a house, BOTB to win a car and things like that. Shows how low the star is at the moment where they are scraping by getting a few quid here and there from affiliates to have them in such a prominent position on the home screen.

Yes, I know all that, but it will not change the arrival dates of any new players, however urgent the need might be. Wider is doing the best he can, and the new owners don’t want to be seen as a soft touch. It sounds like they are in it for the long haul and this is their first experience of the JTW. Other clubs know that, and they will try to take advantage of it. Not a thing we can do to change anything.

It is obviously frustrating to say the least, but there’s a good chance this new consortium don’t want to be taken advantage of or get taken for mugs at the first opportunity. Nothing you or I can do to change things, right now, so why fret about it? Look on the bright side. If they are cautious in the full knowledge of the cost of any delay, that’s surely a good thing in the long run?
I had then down as no marks and naive until now!

If the Cannom rumours are correct then we can knock the 'cautious' comments on the head !

The star stuff wants me to register or I can’t look when they post anything interesting

Fuck that

If you need to know that an uncredited extra in a 1960’s episode of Bilko has passed away you’re missing out. You can steal a march on Blades News though, just read this forum first as it’s often Danny’s day off so Biggsy hasn’t answered his BlackBerry yet……

He can’t answer it because he’s in the travel tavern stacking up his big plate

Using words like ‘if’ and ‘rumours’ tends to invalidate any reply. When any person in the chain moves the goal posts, and inserts the words ‘option to buy’ or obligation to buy’, it changes the whole agreed deal!

No wonder any new owners are confused.
