With all this talk of who we could have in charge next season it got me thinking.

How long is Blackwells contract for? I seem to remember it was for two years (could be wrong though).

And if he is contracted to us next season, do people seem to think he will walk or McCabe finally get rid at the end of this season.

If he does go, considering we have no money to spend, we need to cut wages down and don't seem to have many contracted players, who realistically would really want to come and manage us?

I have a horrible feeling he might still be with us the start of next season, I really really hope I am wrong though.

I doubt he will go unless he decides he has had enough. If he stays, I hope he will be just left to get on with it and any player sales happen very quickly after the end of the season so he can at least have half a chance of a stable squad.

well its just about time for McCabe to announce cheap as chips contract has been extended again..... that would boost season ticket sales

I think there's a lot of fans getting excited about nowt.

Regardless of his tactical awareness (lack of), his style of play and whether he has the ability to attract the right sort of player to our club, we will be told by the board that under the most difficult of circumstances he has performed magnificently.

Trevor Birch has already said similar a couple of months ago.

How can they sack him, replace him, or whatever, when he has the stats to back up what has really been an horrendous task given everything that has gone wrong for us playing staff wise this season?

Already, KB has demonstrated to the board that he can get results (although lack any real consistancy) putting virtually a different eleven out week on week, with so many players making their debuts and having his best players taken away from at the same time

Imho, he is more likely to receive a medal from the club rather than be disposed of!

The only thing I can think of that goes against him, is that ascertained from all these Blades forums and message boards, is actually how many fans are not/will not renew if he remains in charge. If the club take note, then there is an outside possibilty of a managerial change. History tho says to me, the club are not a hire and fire company and I just can't see it happening.

remind me who cheap as chips is again?

Is that the honourable Mr Blackwell?

thats the man Swiss.

And he still has a contract at the club?

I saw him on Saturday, but there was another guy that seemed to be doing his job... I think it was Gary Speed

This confused me as when us fans asked politely for Mr Blackwell to "sort it out" he responded with a shrug and just stood there with his hands in his pockets.

I got confused even more when he spoke on Speed's behalf at the end of the game...

Reminds me of McCabe's dilemma when we went up to the Prem.

He must have known Warnock would probably get us relegated, especially as the season progressed, but how could he sack him when he had got us promoted.

Unfortunatley I agree that disastrous season ticket sales (or an even worse slump in form and results till end of season) is the only thing likely to ease him out, maybe into some kind of technical role working with McCabe's foreign clubs and Chengdu.

Aye, after we beat Tottenham we looked like certs for the drop. I don't get this Warnock argument. Most chairman after promotion from CCC could make a pretty safe assumption that relegation is a possibility - that doesn't mean you sack the manager after promotion. It's just not done and it isn't a dilemma and it's nowt like what we face at the moment.

The atmosphere at BDTBL was very good imo for vast majority of games in Prem. Reading at home was very, very disappointing and brought home what a promoted side can do but in general there was a togetherness in the ranks and a support for the team that is a mile away from the current situation.

Absolutely spot on. Away from home we might have been poor BUT we had a home record that a few teams higher up would have loved to have. The fans were desperate for the players to complete the job and they failed by the narrowest of margins under some dubious (Wet Sham, Rafa/Fergie's team selections) and unlucky (defensive errors, Hulse injury) circumstances. We were given some great evenings and afternoons that season and to suggest that Warnock should have been sacked before the season started is downright ridiculous IMO. If he's had a tiny bit more tactical nous away from home, we'd have stayed up easily but no manager is perfect.

It is more than downright ridiculous! I've no idea where this has come from at all and a few sensible posters now seem to suggest that a side gathering 90 odd points should get rid after promotion. I'm ignoring hindsight here, did people seriously talk about this in may 2006? Maybe I missed it.

I know Warnock wasn't everyone's cup of tea but I can understand people standing up for Blackwell more than I can any argument for McCabe getting rid of Warnock in May 2006.

Calm down. You're reading a lot of things into my post that aren't there.

Blade58, thank you. How refreshing to see such a reasonable post. Don't expect anything in way of a response, though. It made too much sense. And SwissBlade, what are you on about? Even if I was in the "Blackwell Out" camp I wouldn't for one second understand that post about Gary Speed.

It was in reference to the fact that Speed has taken up more responsibility and a higher profile than before... this was particularly obvious at Donny on Saturday...

And also West Ham away game, Geary scored a perfectly good goal, a draw there would of kept us up, lots of little unlucky things didnt help us that season, and of course Tevez. Warnock gave it his best shot.

The boards decision if they keep Blackwell they can continue to cut players if Blackwell does stay Sharp will be the first to go!

Well you can read situations to fit what you'd like to believe, but listen to the man speak and it's clear who is in charge.
