New manager required

I can't believe I even bothered opening this thread. 3 defeats in a 10 game run that brought 6 wins and has us 1 point from 3rd and just 5 from the autos. It's fucking November for Christ's sake.

A few months ago it was "we'll never score any goals." That's the first game we haven't scored in for 17 games.

Asking for a new manager is madness.

Can I just nick "Asking for a new manager is madness"

please tell your top list of 5 goal scoring strikers available for immediate loaning whos better than what we have

They don't have to be available for loan if we have this so called investment money.

Agree a fee for the player that gets paid at the end of the season when the window opens and take them on loan till the seasons end, easy if there is some money, near impossible if you have no money.

How can you keep slating Higdon in playing time he averages more than a goal a game so does Mcnulty why does the majority of Lane regulars long for them to start.
We can't be all fuckin idiots .

I've wondered this myself. There must be something else to it though.

I imagine either he thinks Baxter is undroppable when fit and up for it (I know he's dropped him briefly but that might be fitness/teach him a lesson), or McNulty and Higdon just aren't doing it in training. I don't agree with playing neither either, but there may be a reason we're not aware of. There better be!

It's not really going how a lot said it would, is it?

For the hard of thinking, the op was indeed tongue-in-cheek. We should not be calling for, or even considering calling for a new manager. Equally however NC needs to understand he isn't nailed on to start 2015/16 as Manager of SUFC and his continued employment is, like everyone elses, results based. We're very quickly moving out of "bad run" terretory and into a place marked "freefall".

Sort it, sort it quickly and ensure the second half of the season is better than the first please.

Clough is as good as we'll get. The average football manager is, well average. The Law of Averages mean that some will win more than they lose. In football, this means they're a 'good' manager. Others lose more than is acceptable to the fans and board, they get sacked, do a few months 'gardening leave' and some other mug will take them on.

Rather than calling for NC's head, maybe it's time the holy grail of managers was revisited. Does a football club actually need a manager? And per-leese don't say 'Who would pick the team?' I don't think it's worth a salary in the high six figures.

NC has a different way of working - if you want NC out then you have a long wait.

We are still in all four completion's we entered from memory.............

Mr Clough is here to stay . However the blades still being in 4no competitions means absolutely nothing . Unless someone tells bedifferently the task , aim , goal , instruction was promotion . Nothing more or nothing less . Being in the cup semi final counts for nothing,

By the end of January we should have a better idea as to where we headed. Tough run of games and the JTF. Should know how committed the board are and whether Clough has found the missing pieces of the jigsaw. My opinion, for what it's worth, is that we will rise to the challenge. Out of the League cup, possibly still in the F.A. Cup. Realistically though we have to start thinking p lay offs. If, on the other hand, we are out of both c ups and below sixth in League 1, I fear for Clough.

If you took an average manager rating from all Deadbat's summaries in the league this season, I'd be surprised if he was over 6/10. Which says it all really.

Don't we keep trotting the same thing out at the approach to every transfer window, nothing changes. Defence incapable of keeping a clean sheet, OUR defender Butler in great form at one of our local rivals and on the cusp of joining them, great. At the moment I feel like I won't be arsed to attend the Spurs game as if this bunch of uninspired no marks can't up their game against bog standard league teams like they seem to be capable of against teams from higher up the sphere .......... I will be there of course but this lot make my teeth itch at times.

We are what we are, a third division football club. Get used to the fact and enjoy the cup runs.

We gotta get rid of clough
Too soon for that. I'd give him, with some reluctance, another year. If we aren't front trunners next Christmas then his time should be up.

Those who say we shouldn't consider changing managers at that point should look at his track record ( he's a plodder ) and ask how long they are prepared to put up with the lowest ebb in the clubs history.

I think that's the problem. There are enough supporters out there who have given up who feel the same. Never mind that we were favourites for promotion, have brought in 16 players and are good enough to get to the semi finals of the league cup. That just sounds like a bang average 3rd division club. Luckily we have a manager who has the same expectations as you and the others.

We were favourites?

I've been a supporter of Clough from day 1 but yesterday my view changed.Looking at the starting 11 gives me no confidence that we can beat teams like Port Vale.Defensively we are poor, their first goal was laughable, midfield the players are workmanlike but there is no creativity and upfront well who should be leading the line.
We will be fortunate to finish in the top 6, another season in this shit league is unacceptable. Our support at Vale yesterday was brilliant, the trouble is the team gives us nothing to shout about and then he comes out with the ridiculous comment about us chanting Michael Browns name, he should be in red n white instead of Doyle.
Time for a change or another long season in Div 3.

The simple fact is he's not delivering we need a manager who will.
Are we prepare to put up with the garbage being dished up I think not.
The natives are more than restless now I reckon he could be on his last dozen games.
Play your best eleven you know who they are and be positive Cloughie or you'll be gone

He should be under pressure, but despite all the negatives, we cannot be sacking another manager after only one year.

Weve had a bad couple of months, but cloughs proving through the cup games that he's building something. Getting rid of him would be the most ridiculous thing we could do.

Keep him long term and let him build with the kids - like he's doing

Main thing is that we get out of this league. We've a big job to do after a dire couple of months

I guess someone also said the same about Davie of Weir.

David Weir is a good coach but was a untried manager , who did not work out for the blades .

I cannot see Mr Clough changing in any way whatsoever . Its one thing losing the respect of supporters . If he looses the dressing room , then we are in the shit .

Clough has never ever won a promotion with a league club, not a shred of success other than cutting costs that is why he is at Sheffield United. So why do some fans think this will change ???:confused::confused::confused: the bloke gets a lot of leeway due to his fathers heroics in the 1970's and 80's but the truth is Nigel is a nice enough guy but a bang average manager who has his favourites and who falls out with and discards decent players if they don't bow down to him which to me is poor man management skills. FFS one of our players is the star of Doncaster Rovers defence yet we give soft goals away week after fuckin week while Clough fucks about still trying to find his best 11. If the board want to show some "game changing investment" they need to get on the phone and make Nigel Adkins an offer he cant refuse.

Must admit that whole situation is bizarre to say the least. Get him brought back, settle whatever differences caused the issue, move on.

That a serious post? Jesus wept. Let's turn into Leeds shall we. Clough is the first manager we've had for years that actually appears to have the right way of thinking. We've had 6 permanent since the season we got relegated (2010/11), now you want to make that 7??

Sacking Blackwell is what caused this decline. Yes his tactics were shit to watch but he wouldn't have got us relegated.

I can't stand this new thing that chairmen seem to think a change in manager will automatically make things right.

Sacking Blackwell after the 3-0 defeat against QPR ( second game of the season ) was the cause of our decline . Yes we would not have got relegated that season , but neither would we have got promoted . That season like every season , expectations are high at BDTBL . This season even more so .

When you look at the teams above us , all the managers are league 1 pedigree managers , and know the league inside out .

Our problem is that Mr Clough is not a league 1 manager and is still on a steep learning curve . Have we got time or patience for his continual professional development of this league , only time will tell .. It would not be a issue if he got us out of this league and back into the championship were he actually belongs . The championship being his level of management capabilities .However this may now only be achieved by the playoffs , if the right recruitment is made in January .

We again are leaving everything to chance , but change of manager , would be suicidal.

SUFC have made there bed with Mr Clough and have to lay in it. Statics do show that the name of the game is to stick not twist when it comes to managers.

Let us see were Mr Clough takes us , we have no choice , unless the points tally at home continues and he looses the support and backing of the fans , which will be evident to all , by the atmosphere at the lane , if we see no improvement.
