New manager of Coventry (when we play them) will be....

Lampard hasn't proven to be a great manager. But unfortunately, now and again he seems to be able to give his players a bit of a spark i.e. when he kept Everton up. Let's hope that spark doesn't happen against us

New manager at home especially to a really good side in Coventry will be one of our toughest away games for sure.

They have massively underperformed this season. I had them for certain to be easily playoffs. But they not got it right this season and made a change.

In fairness to Lampard he didn't do a bad job at Derby and his record at Chelsea was pretty good considering he had a summer transfer embargo to contend with. He's still not great but he's better than Rooney.
He is a typical ex pro who believes he can start at the top. He has achieved nothing in management and I'm sure Mark Robins is annoyed with that quality of replacement. Robins lost his best players over recent years and hasn't been given a fair crack of the whip to rebuild - Coventry fans are fuming about his dismissal Would anyone seriously take Lampard over Robins?

No.

Mark Robins was almost like a project for Coventry as they gave him plenty of time to build a squad which they hoped was capable of premier league promotion, and they got close against Luton before that squad started to get stripped of its better players.

Feels to me like they're going to do the same with Lampard and give him quite a bit of time to build a squad that they hope will take them to the premier league.

The new manager of Coventry will be...

Doug King gambling with manager names and juggling balls and dropping them constantly is playing right into wilders hands.

Doug King gambling by playing potential new managers against each other is playing right into United's hands. Lampard with his track record (Derby was a fluke) would be an absolute joke and embarrassing appointment, whilst Van Nistelroy would be a far superior appointment but the Coventry chairman seems totally obsessed with the media profile of Lampard. Matt Bloomfield would be a damn good appointment but King is scared to hell of a gamble. The current caretaker manager who is likely to be in charge at the weekend will mean nothing to the players as they know a new manager is coming in.

I think Rooney did a better job at Derby than Lampard. Despite the summer transfer embargo at Chelsea, he had the biggest academy in the galaxy with Pulisic and Kovacic coming in during that window regardless.

Lampard had Mason Mount and Tomori playing in the Championship for Derby. He also had one of the most expensive wage bills in the the league, including Martin Waghorn who went to them after we'd been trying to sign him all summer, but we just couldn't compete with the wages they offered.

Still Wilders journeymen were loads better, we got promoted and they didn't.

Just seen that we play them before Sunderland play so a win or a draw puts us top of the league - for 2.5 hours at least.

Any club that appoints (or gives consideration to hiring) Lampard as manager these days, deserves the utmost ridicule. He's had multiple opportunities, and been a failure everywhere.

Was given quite the warchest at Derby, but failed to get promotion. The way they plummeted after he (and most of the money) left speaks volumes of how they put all their eggs in the "Frank Lampard's Derby County" basket, despite it being ludicrously obvious that he was only waiting for the Chelsea job to become available.

Admittedly, he had a transfer embargo to deal with at Chelsea, but he still had an academy full of talent ready to make a name for themselves, and it's not as if they didn't have a strong squad. Transfermarkt values that 2019/20 squad at just over 700million Euro, with the likes of Rudiger, Willian, Pedro, Kante, Giroud, Pulisic all in there just to name a few. Then spunked a disgusting amount of money the next summer, and got sacked halfway through the league season, with 29 points from 19 games.

And then Everton were dumb enough to give him a chance, and very nearly were punished for it. Scraped survival with a game to spare after 7 defeats in his first 9 matches, then sacked the following season after 3 wins in 20 games in the league. Again after he spent a handsome amount of money.

One of a few managers around currently who I actively hate to see being given more opportunities, over managers who are actually competent. Spunks money whenever he has the chance, but has no tactical intelligence to back it up.

I can't see him doing anything positive if he were given the Coventry job.

He managed a Championship team with 3 players who were representing England 1 year later, in Tomori, Mount and Abraham. He woefully underachieved but he was protected by his mates in the media.

Yep, didnt they finish 6th in 2018/19? With the squad they had, for me, they underachieved.

2. Abraham went to Villa cause they had John Terry. Derby "only" had Tomori and Mount

I think the upheaval will work in our favour whoever it is. They've had players treading water over the international break, training aimlessly and you would imagine not particularly hard, not knowing who the new boss will be, what style of football or even formation they'll be playing while we will have used that time to further fine tune the areas that need it.

I don't get why why they sacked Robbins without someone else in place to take over
Yep it's illogical, but a common occurrence. Feels like the decision to dismiss is often made without considering the need to find a replacement. Either that, or it's some archaic show of respect to the incumbent manager, to not go interviewing for the job while they are still employed

Every game in the Championship has the potential to drop points for us. Any Championship side can produce a win from the most unexpected circumstances.
New manager bounce is the least of our worries when the likes of Millwall, QPR and Cardiff can produce an upset result!

I hope Wilder finds a way around it.
