United to release a shirt with a Real Betis template in the same week that I finally get to see Real Betis on English soil facing Huddersfield in a friendly? It's written in the Gods...
Indeed, love that Real Betis kit too - wish it were Park Ave's template this season...but we end up with this :(

A few teams have ended up with those training top templates. It's a right con.

I'm presuming we'll have kits similar to these:

Amen to that mate - was really disappointed when I saw that revealed. We (BPA) tend to have something similar to that Real Betis shirt, and we get a training top :? I actually sourced a fairly generic Macron and Errea G&W striped shirt, at the same price band and they blew away that Adidas thing...

Ahh well, not my decision...

Craig UTB & UTA!

Much prefer the collar on your shirt, as opposed to all black. Hope it IS like that :) Not too sure about the away one though...

Craig UTB!

P.S. what software/templates do you use for those mock ups?

Not keen on it myself, mate. It's the template Macron used for Leeds away shirt and it's rumoured to be yellow and green so I was aiming for what it probably will look like rather than how I'd like it to look haha. Just Photoshop and I've a pack full of kit templates, I'll inbox you a download link.

i'd quite like that download link as well please! :)

Yellow and green are Canary colours. At a distance wearing that shirt you will be associated with Norwich as there are not many teams which play in those colours.

Why can't we stick to Red, White and Black. There are enough options?

I can see why Macron will benefit from reusing another teams kit from last season and not necessarily a bad option if savings are passed on to the club and fans.

Away shirt would be better yellow & black, or maybe yellow/dark grey?
I still maintain narrower stripes = better league position so OK with the home shirt. Would be even better without the red yoke though. Stripes on the back I assume?

The Betis shirt on which this is based had a solid back, not striped!

I think someone mentioned this before, but is it correct that with the likes of Macron they pay us, but with the likes of Nike or Adidas, we would have to pay them?

I don't think Macron pay us, it might even cost the club more to buy Macron shirts than one of the big brands, the big difference is that if Nike supply kits, they take complete control of all merchandising, even Manchester United don't decide pricing in their own megastore and Nike take large chunks of the profits (but for Manchester United it's worth it as Nike pay them to make their kits).

With Macron, the Blades retain control of what they sell, where they sell it and how much it costs. A lot of lower division/non-league teams started having Nike kits a few years back, but it means they all end up with old template kits/training tops and Nike takes almost all the money made from them, so the clubs themselves make very little from merchandise sales.

Nike have two different sets of terms for supply of kit etc. For the bigger clubs (Man Utd, Arsenal, Barcelona etc.) they pay them a substantial amount to be kit supplier and they give the teams generally a bespoke kit, they then have total control of all sales and the megastores of the teams involved and the club get a small percentage of the profits. For the smaller teams they negotiate a different deal where they get nothing/little for the supply, which then comes from their teamwear range which is designs used in previous seasons for the bigger clubs. Again they take over the total sales for the club and give the team a slightly higher cut from all sales. Hence the Bradford kit above being a version of the Barcelona orange/yellow kit from last season (see also Leyton Orient this season). Adidas and Puma operate similar systems.

Maybe we should just make our own stuff like AS Roma have done for the coming season. All profit to the club:

Indeed, am I the only one who thinks that if the club just revived the 1971-73 shirt and got some local business to manufcature them, they could make a fortune?

The reason Roma have done that is because they are in dispute with Kappa who are contracted until the end of the season. Nike take over next term but as they are still "legally" contracted to Kappa, can't wear Nike. So, they have made their own.

It's not to save money .
