Don't know what all the fuss is. It's just something different to mark the 125th anniversary, as they probably couldn't do it last year due to the new agreement with Adidas - probably wanted to get the first year off with good sales.

It's only for 1 year. Maybe it will bring us a little luck! I quite like it.

Only thing I think should have been different is that the club should have consulted the fans first. The club have made fantastic strides in the past 18 months in improving the relations with the fans (seems like that is down to Phipps) and also making a big push on improving the branding around the ground and club i.e. the banners around the outside of the ground / big flags for the kop etc. So it would probably have been good to consult the fans on the kit change.

But its really not that big of a deal for 1 year!!

I am stil hoping against hope that the board have a rethink, use this as a third kit next season and keep the current home strip for another season.

When general football fans were asked their opinions on the kit 70 people said they liked the new blades kit compared to only 30 who thought it was average or disliked it.

All well and good but general football fans aren't blades fans if you get my drift and might take a different view if voting on their own teams kit when breaking with current tradition

I can understand why the fans aren't consulted if the agreement is that we get a generic template but if the club has input on the design then they should definitely consult the fans. It's not as though it's difficult to do these days, all they need to do is come on here.

I've already said that I think this is probably the best shirt we've ever had but I'm really not sure about having it as our home shirt, and I reckon that would probably be the general opinion if they did a poll.

The club have consulted fans before, putting a shortlist of designs on the o/s and allowing fans to vote on their favourite design

It won't please everyone obviously, but the majority will get their way and allows fans to have their say and be involved.

After all, the club hope and expect fans to put their hands in their pockets and buy one, therefore why shouldn't they be allowed to get involved?

With all the debate on the new kit, I just thought I'd ask a simple question, will you buy it?

I'm in the 'Yes' vote as I think it's a really nice kit and to have it for one season to commemorate our history is no issue for me. Plus the normal red and white stripes will be back in a years time.

Be interesting to get the general consensus as to how many will/won't buy it.

Don't know if its just me , but some kits make a team look like they have more than 11 men on the pitch . Although not a bad kit , imo it made us look like we had less than 11 men on the pitch. Must me a optical illusion or sumut like that.

How much influence do you think fans have regarding kit, sponsors, I would say not a lot, regarding the latest kit this is our beginning, the start of SU, this is for our 125th anniversary, embrace it with open arms, We are the blades

I like the new kit but the sponsor ruins it, shame on you john holland sales. I would like to see a neon coloured away kit like kits of old.

I dont get the its a copy of forest away shirt argument , you could equally argue our thick stripes is a copy of southampton or stoke , truth is its not its unique , it has a button collar and 3 thick broad red stripes on the shoulder forest shirt never had

no.. the rest of the world identifies us with red and white stripes.that is 'our' colours
this is a fleecing exercise. put whatever spin on it you want

This seems a season of division with major rifts in the support about (in no particular order) a) Chedgate b) Clough c) Baxter d) proposed new home strip. Sad really but we are where we are. Hope we can be United tomorrow night. Three points needed, much better than a game in hand. UTB

its still red and white stripes , you could argue the current shirt is red and white blocks they are so thick only 3 red and 2 white stripes
its just a variation on width
theres 6 thick white stripes and 5 thin red stripes so theres twice as many stripes now

You should be a spokesman for the Government..

Some people just don't get the idea of throwback shirts for one season only, do they..

No some people just don't like the idea of us not playing home games in red and white stripes full stop! Whatever the reason.

I'm one of them.

Odd that they used the new sponsor logo in all the preview shots, but the shirts they actually played in kept the old logo.
I like the design, but I'd prefer it as an away shirt. I know it mimics our original shirt and it's only for one season and everything, but it just doesn't say "Sheffield United" to me.
Of course, if we storm to automatic promotion wearing it next season I'm prepared to change my mind.. :-)

John Holland only changed their logo a few weeks ago, the shirts they played in on Saturday will have probably been made before that.

Can you get it without the logo? Do some clubs have the options to pay £5 extra and get one without?

Can you get the logo off without ruining the thing? (There must be a lifehack video somewhere dealing with this important issue.)

I suppose if you didn't like it...
You could always not buy It.
I know that's a bit wacky but hey, just an idea.

Lovely away kit. Now give us our red and white striped shirts and black shorts back.

Plain white, with red shorts from the stands. Disgusting home kit and I hate it with a passion.

Like the shirt, but not as a home shirt, as a few others have said, this would have been better as an away shirt

I do like the shirt itself ...... but never to be a home strip. If it was used as an away strip I would consider buying it but I will not buy it if it's used as a home kit.
Sorry, complex answer to an easy question
