Don't understand why former players should be preferred, younger coaches without a significant playing career seems the better choice. Some of the better new coaches started off coaching at early ages. Nick some young backstaffcoaches at Man City or Chelsea, they seem to produce both players and coaches.

Michael Dawson might be a shout excellent experience has ties to the area with hull and forest and has done some of his badges.

Graeme Coughlan came in and worked with the U23s last season, although he has been linked with the manager's job at Doncaster.

A name everyone seems to have forgotten that has the links, badges and experience and to be fair might not fancy the idea of stepping down to be a coach after a prolonged stint as caretaker manager and time in the spotlight,,Rob Page

Thought about him earlier but he’s still in charge isn’t he? And can’t wales still make the World Cup?

I am not sure it would work, you need a clear, no argument realisation not just from the players but the coaches that Hecky is the boss, and as you say it would be a backward step, he has got nothing but plaudits for the job he is doing with Wales

Think his situation is political with Wales. He’s essentially the manager but because you’re innocent until proven guilty Giggs can’t be sacked officially until proven guilty

Talking of ex players - wasn't John Gannon doing something with Citeh at one point?

Giving the ball away and getting told to 'fuck off Gannon' by his own fans...?

He was involved with Man City last i heard.

Some more clues appearing. Looks like will be an ex defender/someone with defensive experience according to Heckys latest comments:

"We want to put a real focus on that across all the groups. Teams have a goalkeeping coach and we have got Jack to come and really give the strikers some attention and Macca in with the midfielders with his experience."

"The other coach will be providing that same assistance, expertise, guidance to the defenders as well."
What about Jack O'Connell?

If his injury still needs time and he isn't going to be playing then is it not feasible he could venture into coaching during his rehab?

We need someone who can get a grip on the statistics that are priced for each player. They could help with recruitment too.

Get Boris Johnson in because all he's doing a lately is defending hinsen

imagine if this ends up being the height of our January recruitment. a defensive coach
