Whilst I don’t actually ever take anything the Sun writes as really credible I think they are closer to the mark than our learned friends from Brentford are

I don’t think the Sun are wrong saying that 7 million has been slashed as I actually think that has always been roughly the price from day 1

I think reality is not many clubs think it isn’t a risk taking him for 20 million plus, I think if that wasn’t the case and clubs thought he was worth 20 plus he would already be gone, let’s be honest we have all seen Villa spending so why isn’t he there already ?? They clearly are willing to splash out on all areas and have already splashed big on a guy who you can argue is as big a risk

Or West Ham and Gomez, would be an obvious choice if they were convinced in Maupay and would be cheap for them

I think if money has been suddenly slashed then it’s because both the player has made it clear he wants out and it’s obvious to those high up at Brentford that they likely won’t get 20 + even by waiting

Players are only worth what others are willing to pay. I think £15m is about the going rate for a promising, but unproven, Championship striker, making the step up to the Prem.

I wonder what the value of Billy Sharp would be to a Championship side seeking promotion to the Prem? That would be an interesting valuation. Not that I want him to go anywhere - but if we are signing the likes of Maupay and McBurnie then a year from now our Billy might be looking for a new challenge - and his track record at Championship level would be worth paying a few million for wouldn't it?

The key must be come to us we will give you a platform to show your talents ,when offers come in we will sell you on for a good price.
A real carrot to attract young players to come to a championship club who's business plan is buying and selling players.
