Yet we are where we are, and they are where they are.

He obviously hasn't seen us play very much as he. If he did he would note that we mix it up very well. What's the point in building from the back every time? Surely that would be easy for the opposition to work out. You need to keep them guessing by..

Playing out from the back.
Goal kicks.
Give it to Norwood and let him ping a long diagonal pass.
Play if through midfield.
Hit it into the channels.
Knock it up to Didsy to flick on or bring it down

There is so much variety in our play that keeps teams guessing.

We are not 4-4-2 we are a dynamic fluid attacking team that has defensively improved over the last 12 months.

We use our CBs to overlap and overload wide areas.

A one dimensional team we are certainly not.

To call us Direct is just laughable

Sessegnon will easily go for more than £20m, but the difference is Fulham won’t be selling to a newly promoted club, they’ll more than likely sell to Spurs which is a whole different level.

The majority of those players you mention are 30 or nearly 30 so it stands to reason that their values are going to start dropping.

Che Adams is probably the best comparison but all selling clubs circumstances are different which can obviously change things. Personally I think James Maddison is a good example of the maximum fee, he reportedly went for £20m, which you would assume includes the add ons. So something like £15m + £5m in add ons, I could definitely see Maupay going for regardless of that being to United or not.

I suppose a big factor in valuations is age. Maupay and McBurnie are very young, so even if they struggled in the PL next year.
Like Sessignon, they have plenty of time to be developed and improve.

Let them call us what they want mate. Whatever our perceived limitations are ,they have got us where we are, ultimately that's all that matters. I don't mind Brentford, a mate of mine follows them. But the fact is (and God knows it's happened to us plenty of times) is that money talks. Shitty, but it's the way of things.

Car boot at Marsh Lane next Sunday, if anyone fancies helping with the search for a couple of strikers!!??

Mak,

Wilder has shown his tactical flexibility over the years.

In league 1 we were truly brilliant, best United style I’ve seen in 40 years watching us, we were playing a Barcelona type patient passing style, similar to Brentford at their very best.

1st season in the Championship. We continued playing the passing game but some teams were as good. Our downfall was the injury to our most influential midfielder, who broke his leg in November17. We were top of the league in November 17 but were never the same when we lost him.

2nd season in the Championship. We mix it up much more. Generally a nice patient passing style with occasional quick/ direct balls.

I’ve always been a fan of Brentford’s passing style but it must be so frustrating because they always flatter to deceive.
Brentford often tend to dominate matches, create chances but seem to be unlucky but a team can’t be so unlucky, so often.
There’s must something missing...is it leadership? Backbone? Killer instinct?
They have plenty of talented players who are highly rated and coveted. So it’s strange why their team struggles to pick up wins.

I've also been informed, that this was "after Maupay spoke to Brentford bosses, and told of his desire to join the Blades to persue premier league football, this was before a transfer request was submitted"?"

Don't shoot the messenger, the guy that said it was happening said it was happening.

If it’s in The Sun....then it must be true.
Done deal then.....where’s Les?
This is getting stupid now.....it’s on, off, on, off, in , out , in ,out and shake it all about, we do the Hokey Cokey.

This Sun journalist, can anyone point to some other articles that demonstrates he has relevant contacts?

That are ramifications of handing in a transfer request. Nobody is going to do that on 8th July when the window has another month to run.

I never know when you are on the wind up mate 😳

Interesting. Why would we drop our price, what does anyone think would be in that for us?

A nice summary and totally agree on all points.

Brentford are an excellent footballing side that we more than often get the better of. For them to take it to the next level I think they need to mix it up a bit and have more in their locker for teams to deal with.

Maybe a direct ball or two every now and then could catch teams out? 🤔

Interesting. Why would we drop our price, what does anyone think would be in that for us?
Nothing money wise obviously, maybe the guarantee that money will come in? Surely can’t be anything worse than this going to deadline day him going for £15/£20 Mill and you not replacing him

That’s what I thought.
It says the reason is “because Maupay wants to play in the PL”
But that’s obvious, every player prefers to play in the PL.
Think the reporter is just trying to make his report look more interesting/ sensationlist.
We need to find out the credentials of the reporter regards his track record on transfer deals.
How would he receive this info, at this time, before any other reporter or ITK poster. I suppose it’s possible instead of wanting 22 million up front Brentford have agreed to 15 million plus a shit load of add-ons (worth up to 7 million) based on him scoring x amount in the PL and us staying up (being the biggest add-on).

Please understand. We do not want to sell him. We do not need to sell him. We actively want to keep him.

That does not mean that we won't sell him. We may not be able to stand in his way if a substantial offer comes in for him.

But there is no way that we would reduce our expectations with a whole 4 weeks to go. Look when we have done our selling previously in windows. It's at the end.

As Banana points out, our usual tactic is to do our sales late. It would be unfathomable to me that we would go from no bid to "slashing" millions off our asking price in 24 hours with a month to go of the window. Who would do that?

Interesting. Why would we drop our price, what does anyone think would be in that for us?

Maupay wants to leave
We don’t want to pay £20mil
You want cash to get a replacement before he forces through a move & haven’t received any other interest in Maupay so are lowering it to £15mil in the hopes we’ll give you £15mil upfront instead of £12mil + add ons.

This scenario gives you more time to find a replacement than if Maupay forces a move through in 3 weeks time.

Just thinking out loud there

Hi Les, how do you know the actual asking price? Has the club nailed £20m to the mast? I've only seen media quotes on that figure. It could be a lot lower than that when it comes down to the nitty gritty negotiations. For me, I'm not too bothered whether it's £10m, £15m or £20m but our club is and I'm glad that they would be after the best deal possible instead of bending over backwards to the demands of players, agents and clubs.

Good luck for this coming season btw, you and your pals on here seem a decent sort 👍

I completely understand you want to keep him, incredible player that’s obviously why we are interested but whether he leaves this week or on deadline day he needs replacing, why not sell now when it’s higgly unlikely you will have him in your team for your opening game?

We don't need the cash.

Because a Bigger Fool might arrive. Prices increase in the last few days AND we don't need to sell, or want to sell. This one will run and run.

I can see your logic but I don't think it's correct. I'm going with the story being bullshit.

Hi Banana, you are obviously ITK at your end. Do you know if there is a release clause in his contract and if so what's the amount for it to be activated?

Bigger fools like the Birmingam City trio two years ago. Good old 'Arry.
