Thing is mate if we do get him I’d bet any amount it says “undisclosed “ so we probably won’t know for some time if at all. Also there’s more often than not add ons and sell ons so the true value rarely comes out.

You’re not going to get £24m for him. Nor are you going to give him a big pay increase. So you sell him for what the highest bidder will pay or have a dissatisfied player on your hands. With the amount of speculation in the press it seems apparent that he’s looking to move.

What you think he’s worth, and what he’s actually worth are totally different.

For a start, he’s only worth what someone will pay. And the problem you have, is that nobody is interested in your silly valuations.
We sold David Brooks for £12m. A better player than Maupay.
We paid sod all for Fleck. Better than any midfield player at your club.
We paid £2m for Norwood...again better than any midfielder at Brentford.

Now I get he’s young, and off the back of a very good season. But if you think anyone will pay those fees for an unproven premiership, one season championship striker...you need your bumps feeling.

So get over it. we may pay £20m...eventually. But I can assure you it won’t be £20m upfront, it might be a fraction of that with the rest in stages dependent on HIM doing the business and proving he’s worth that kind of money!
Same goes for any of your players. If we wanted them, we’d get them. We can offer something they ALL want...you can’t. Plus you need the money, as you do every season.
So stop getting giddy, accept you’ve got a very good system of scouting that keeps the club afloat through player sales and be content you are at the top of your level for now.

This info isn’t just made up or wishful thinking.

We have a resident mole using the name Richard Cadette who rarely posts anything apart from the latest transfer news/ targets.
His record is really impressive giving names and details well ahead i(sometimes weeks ahead) of anyone else.
If I didn’t know better, it’s as though Chris Wilder himself occasionally posts on here or someone exceptionally close to him.

As for the players themselves - Maupay is class. Easily the best all round striker in the Championship. He's a complete and utter bastard to play against as well. Completely fearless. We LOVE him. Properly love him. We don't need to sell him, he might want to go but if he does, we'll get close to our price and £12m is miles off. Although, I would add, for someone who scored 28 goals, he missed a few sitters too and finishing is one of his weaker points. His link up play though is different class.

Watkins. Can be good, wasn't great last season. Could develop but equally not get any better than he is. If we were bid £12m for him, I think we'd take it.
