Interesting how this industry is/has evolved. You'd think journalists would have seen the writing on the wall some time ago and pivoted to more social media/interactive channels. Rather than trying to force 10kg of shit into a 5kg bag, come up with a more creative solution.

Not telling someone how to live their life, but would have thought this chap using his imagination and the overwhelming evidence of where the industry is headed and starting his own YouTube channel and using his skills and contacts would have positioned him at the front of others who have made a success of doing it literally from their bedrooms!!
I was thinking along similar lines. I’m an old fart but the young generation of so called ‘Influencers’ is way ahead of us and journalism.
They just work to a much looser framework, with fewer rules.

You have a point, but growing a social media following such that it pays the bills is a difficult thing to do. The guys at SU Way regularly say they earn very little from their channel and they put out a lot of content.

Nobby Humpledink is a middle-aged man, probably with a mortgage and family to support.
He's had a good run covering the club he supports, but if it can no longer sustain his life it's time to move on.

Hemmingham seemed to be the Clubs preferred local outlet for leaking information to after the Stir and Biggs burnt their bridges by siding with CW. At least he was a qualified local journalist trained in dealing with aspects of media work occasionally coming up with an exclusive. He was present at press conferences so his assessment of what was happening was better informed than those so called social media experts who purported to be ITK. His q and a sessions with fans was informative although somewhat speculative at times.

We have even less media outlets now to receive information question and challenge all things Sheffield United. The thought of the untrained accountant on twitter being given an even wider remit to spout his banal musings as the unofficial SUFC comms. man 😀 doesn't bear thinking about.

Can't believe it's the end of old Nobhair Haemorrhoid he created hours of amusement on the quiet S24SU days....

Perhaps the Athletic can sort themselves out, give him a job and cover us properly. The coverage is not what it was after Sutcliffe started writing about Wrexham.
Just read this - but I @ The Athletic on Hemminghams tweet, for that very reason.

SU Way is not run to make money. It just covers its production costs. It’s a fan channel, run by fans.
You might be surprised by the number of u tube channels that make money based on opinions, with no editorial remit to follow.
