Ronnie Simpson. Paul Simpson's uncle. My dad said Ronnie had a powerful left foot shot. Joe Mercer signed him in summer 1958 in an exchange deal, Derek Hawksworth (also a left winger) going the other way. Ronnie was our regular number 11 from 1958 to 1964 before going to Carlisle (his home town). He was introduced to the crowd at BDTBL before a match about 7 years ago. He looked well but passed away about a year later. Scored after 8 seconds in the 2-1 win at Burnley in October 1963 ( still our record)
