Early 2000’s not saying it was the worst side but the only time in my time watching united (since 78) that I could take it or leave it. Whether that was just me at the time or the standard of the team is a matter of opinion.

Went to very few away games during that time and found myself having one last pint in the pub at 2.50pm quite a few times

Of actual players I have seen live

Best: Kelly, Borbokis, McGrath, Stancliffe, Kyle Walker, Cockerill, Jagielka, Morris, Deane, Agana, Hodges

Worst: Leaning, Kozluck, Alan Wright, Mark Beard, Paul Garner, Gary Brazil, Paul Holland, Franz Carr, Akinbiyi, Cadette, Tony Battersby

Some interesting players on both list, Stancliffe was a donkey and Gary Brazil was useful

Best: last few years - current.

Worst: Weir/Clough/Adkins hybrid
..........................Long
Westlake McEveley - McGahey - Harris
Woolford - Hammond - Barry Robson - Brandy
.................Higdon - Sammon

Takes some beating that lot , do feel for Bob Harris in that team though, no world beater but always tried and was hampered by injuries . I do remember one or two decent performers from him

That literally sends shivers.

Slight mitigation for Long as a young un and Harris as half decent

the best ive watched (just managed to sneak borbokis & deane in with 97 being my 1st season :p )
----------Henderson
Borbokis O'Connell Jagielka Stevens
-----Brown Fleck Norwood
------------Duffy
--------Sharp Deane

the worst ive watched
----------------M Bunn
A Taylor Nosworthy McEveley M Williams
R France Hammond S Lappin Woolford
-----------C Beattie Higdon

that worst side strikes fear into me & was going to have sammon upfront, but he got let off purely because the chant, "conor sammon he's better than cod", makes me chuckle every time & Brandy for the 20mins either side of 3 match suspensions. he could manage before getting sent off, looked very good

We’ve definitely had worse than long and Harris but I can’t think of a worse team in the last 10 years

Surprised how little recognition Bassett’s teams have got.

Through no fault of his own the team that I saw lose 6-0 at Boro in 1988 and the one that drew at home to Reading 0-0 near the end, bookmark his time here, in a truly depressing way.

On a brighter note the team that beat Manchester United 2-1 on Valentine’s Day 1992 was superb. Hodges at his best and Deano a proper handful of power and guile. Some of the goals Deano scored during that period were sublime especially the long range one v Liverpool. But similar to today’s it was a proper team, individually not great but as a group, special.

In a different scenario and with backing that could have been a real team. To keep us up in the top flight with nil backing was a massive achievement and at their peak, it was a top team.

Guthrie another useless cunt.over six for tall.a player who was five foot two could beat him in the air.

A lot of Dross there fellas. Certainly room for Andy Keeley and ? Montgomery in any worst team scenario.

All my favourite teams over the 47 years have been trumped by this one. The Bassett and Warnock teams look positively “agricultural” at the side Wilders. Even John Harris sadly failed to capitalise on the Currie/Woodward era.

We came up 2 divisions with Stancliffe. He was old school, but definitely no donkey. And in the “worst 11” is really stretching it! 😂

Best team Hodgkinson.Badger.Hemsley.Flynn.Colquhoun.Hockey.Woodward.Salmons.Dearden.Currie.Reece.John Harris.
Worst.Richardson.moore.Housten.Paterson, Keeley.Charles.Dey.Peters.Bourne.Verdy, Givens, manager.Haslam/Peters.
Just the mention of Steve Charles brings me out in a cold sweat

Didn’t actually say Stancliffe would go in a worst 11 , I would say an effective cart horse
