Newsnow brought this to my attention:

"Sheffield Wednesday has noted comments made in the media by Sheffield United striker Richard Cresswell, after an incident involving Owls winger Jermaine Johnson during last week's Steel City derby.

The club would like to make clear that following the incident in question, referee Chris Foy awarded a free kick in the Owls' favour. In addition, the FA have since examined the incident on DVD and deemed there is no case for Johnson to answer, and nor will there be.

The club will be making no further comment on this matter as the manager, players and coaching staff continue their preparations for the vital Championship game at Cardiff City on Saturday."

Good to see they're upholding the spirit of the game and putting forward the view that elbowing is acceptable if you get away with it.

Nice of them to acknowledge that the referee was a twat though re:

...referee Chris Foy awarded a free kick in the Owls' favour.

Just means he got two decisions wrong in the space of a few seconds. It doesn't justify them.

Still... Cressy is fine and they're still shit. The world is as it was :)

I think we're missing a trick not making a compilation DVD of his "incidents" over the last few derby games :)

Given our record with the FA and governing bodies did anyone think they would find anything wrong.

Im more surprised they didnt try to ban Cresswell for headbutting the twats elbow. ;)

Lets be honest no referee likes to see that he missed something there all big time charlies and as for the FA well i don't need to comment on that subject. Come on Cardiff give them a beating saturday.

The problem with you lot is you all have your heads in the sand.
It's well documented everywhere that MASSIVE clubs get away with everything especially at home :D

Shall we have an early day motion? :D

Great point - isn't Chris Foy the FA Cup final referee? Definitely a reason for the FA to sweep it under the carpet..cretins.

Cresswell never asked for a ban in the press, just a simple professional players apology ,johnson's silence has shown him for what he is.

For that quote I fucking well hope they get shit on by Cardiff and Palace and drop a division, serves the cunts right, even more so after all their gloating last year after doing the double and apparently it helping towards stopping us going up. If that's the case, they kept us in the league, then didn't beat us this year and are going down...HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Echoes of Morgan / Hume. How much difference is there between Utd's response that incident and Wendy's to this?

Johnson will have been advised not to apologise in order to avoid being seen admitting his guilt. Morgan will have had similar advice.

What am I missing other than a touch of parochialism?

As i have already said as a professional footballer and a person i have absolutely no respect whatsoever for Jermaine Johnson, he is an absolute shitbag, scumbag and obnoxious little turd.

He get's away will throwing elbows, trying to break peoples legs, diving and kicking off throwing tantrums, to me he is like the Jamaican El Hadji Diouf.

Morgan did apologise though didn't he?

Morgan did apologise though didn't he?

He did yes and admitted he was devastated that he hurt the lad so badly. He did however maintain, that it wasn't deliberate.

Johnson could easily apologise without admitting his obvious guilt. All he would have to say is "I didnt see him" or "I was just trying to jockey for position and I caught him badly" followed by "I'm sorry." Regardless, he is completely guilty - I watched the whole incident and he swang both arms out. He missed with the first one and connected with the second. The reason he hasnt come out and apologised is because he knows it was deliberate.

We shouldnt even be debating this because he has a track record of being a complete nut job. He tried the same on Kyle Naughton last season and need I even mention the bottle kicking incident. He's a mardy little tosser (typical winger) with no bottle so he has to resort to dirty under-handed tricks and hiding from the victim for the rest of the game. One day he's going to try it on a Chris Morgan or a Joey Barton and get his face rearranged!

Yep, Morgan apologised but nothing else was said which is understandable.

Then the dingle media bandwagon mentioned suing SUFC/Morgan, davey spouting off every other week about how bad it was, a certain MP mentioning it in parliament etc etc...

Johnson is a cowardly chav and this proves it.

He certainly is, and I for one can't wait. I've seen him out in town before and he struck me as a cocky, gangster wannabee chav then.

Like I said in the other thread, I don't want Johnson banned or anything. He's shit. Keep him playing.

But it takes nothing to apologise to a fellow professional, even if it was an honest accident.

True Linz, it just takes a bit of class. I dont agree that he's shit though Linz. He's a little hot and cold but on his day I think he's a good player. If he maintained his best form more often and smartened up his attitude I would have had him in our side - not now though! I would rather make Megson manager! (didnt think there would ever be a scenario where I could say that).

I've looked for quotes and failed, but I'm sure Morgan didn't apologise as such - he expressed regret and denied it was deliberate.

Which is absolutely fine if it's the truth, and there's no reason why Johnson shouldn't do the same if that's the case. But I expect he's been told not to comment. The club will want him to available for the next two games at all costs...
