Valiant effort by those that played tonight but the failure to sign a powerful centre half has shown itself once again. For me we have to give Clough one more season as we do have a strong attack for League 1 (shown tonight, spurs and bristol) just need to have a solid defence so we have a platform to attack. In terms of players i would keep:
Murphy
Done
Basham
Doyle(Should have played tonight, don't get me started on Coutts)
Flynn
Howard
Adams
Harris
Mcnulty
Reed
Two Centre Halfs
Higdon and Wallace ( if fit)

A strong attack???? Perhaps your understanding of figures is less than desirable.

Problem with that is that he won't play more than 1 of that strong attack at any given time unless it's too late.

In games where we've needed to attack we've scored goals. We've just not bothered to or Clough hasn't allowed the team to attack due to having an awful makeshift defence most matches. I think with a decent spine to the team we would score goals with the players we have got.

He's had months to sort out the central defence issue, so sorry he's had his chance and blown it, time to go Clough!

Goals are in the squad but Clough being such a stubborn twat with regards to defenders has ultimately cost us.

Clough may have just got himself out of jail tonight , but still not good enough . Perhaps the attacking and goals scored tonight could have been like that all season , if Clough wasn't the manager .

CB again major problem. Board have some hard thinking to do . Either way we have to start again IMO , so its with Clough or a new bloke . If it is Clough we cannot have the negative , do not lose attitude , as we have had all of this season.

Forget Derby , Burton . Is he good enough for us.

Not gutted , just annoyed , as it should not have come to this .5-5 covers a boat load of cracks.

I would just like one of these so called Journalists to have the balls to ask Clough directly why he choose Alcock and Mceverley ahead of Collins...surely WE are owed an explanation

I agree with most of what you say mate, but why would you keep Higdon? We need to sign Davies.

Well over the 46 that really matter they haven't scored enough.

Our manager has been a total failure. If the club have any ambition whatsoever he has to go along with every member of his backroom staff including Morgs.
It would be Adkins for me but I believe we have already sounded possible replacements out and maybe Hassailbank,s presence tonight was more then just a coincidence.

He would give a politicians answer and it would solve nothing. Everyone knows he cocked up the defence by falling out with him and Butler.

I'm not sure why a manager who has been allowed to bring in more players than any other club, spend more money than any other club, pay-off contracts and yet be so unaware of the basics of football, should be allowed another season to put a team of his mates together who will lethargically fail again.

There are many things I would call tonight but lethargic isn't one of them.

2 centre halves and a keeper and we are there.

As much as I abhor boardroom interference, if Clough remains I'd actually like to see the Prince withhold any funds for signings other than centre halves until this situation is sorted.

That's one way of solving it.

when you say months, it's actually all season

Harry went at the start. Butler was sacked off after a fortnight along with Collins

All season to sort out centre of defence and all he's done is sign full backs that can play cover

Well that aint good enough. You sort the spine of your team out with specialist players not cover players all fkin season

It aint good enough and he must take responsibility

as he was leaning against the dugout at 3.0 down looking confused and puzzled lethargic struck me as a perfect word for him.

The players got us back in it, because for once the players were allowed to just get on with it.

Believe me, after the 5 that went in against us tonight, it will be first priority.

Then there was the daft arrangement with Paddy McCarthy's loan move. Turned up to play the matches but fucked off back to London to train with Palace and Clough assumed the squad was fine with that.

My night started by wandering around larnaca town trying for an hour to find a pub that would actually show the game instead of wall to wall Arsenal. After the 5th pub I actually find one, though I am told I can't have sound because the Arsenal game is on the other 7 TV's. I find another Blade and we sit down to watch and its all I can do to stay and watch after we go 3-0 down after 15mins. But I say no, you are a supporter through thick and thin - sit and tough it out. I have to say Clough learnt nothing from the first leg and once again Byrne was made to look world class because no f****r was marking him again even though it was their most productive way forward in the first leg. I hope Clough introduced Alcock to the other players before the game, would have been nice seeing how he wouldn't really have known half of them.

When we went at them they collapsed like a house of cards but every time we got within touching distance we conceded another soft goal. Our defence was atrocious tonight. Every single one of them. I am so gutted because they were there for the taking if only we had a defence. And the substitutions - 10 more minutes of Adams and we could have won that. I daresay our erstwhile manager will blame McNulty, the ref, the crowd - anyone but himself. I am sorry but I almost wish we had lost 5-0 if that would mean Clough is gone from our football club. Old fashioned, slow, uninspiring, vindictive, overly cautious, no bottle. At 3-0 down he slunk back into the dug-out and was resigned to defeat, The players got us back into that game, not Clough. Unfortunately at 5-5 he might yet rescue his job. Any credit he had built up last season has gone for me and he is overdrawn. And his brother needs to get back to his corner shop and we need to get someone in who knows what he is doing. I guess I should be used to it by now but tonight really hurts and I really do not have any time for blameshifters like the bloke in charge.

If it is Clough Lord Bos, do you think he will change. He has shown that the only way is Nigels way and nothing on earth appears to shake him from that view. Clough would be a perfect fit at somewhere like Mansfield helping to stave off relegation every season, but at a club like ours, he is just not suited.

Sorry but Doyle, McNutts, Higdon and Wallace (although if he can do a sub four minute mile at the top of Everest I might, just might think he has a level of fitness that would then need ten rounds with Kel Brooks to prove he isn't a liability. sure he can play footie but crossing the car park seems too much) all need to see the door.
