Gawd. Where to start?

Listen. I am not accepting this piss-watery 'we haven't played for five weeks and it's disturbed our karma/momentum' horseshit. It's not a practical excuse, or even a reason behind why we simply gave the game up today. Derby again, weren't that good. They are where they are because of who they are and the amount of poor play displayed by them today against what should be ostensibly a Premier League outfit. As people reliably assured me when I was super-critical of last seasons deadbeats, with this seasons squad we should be - on paper - picking teams like Derby up and wiping out shitty arses on them. As it stood, and with all Derby County's shortcomings, all they had to do (as with most other teams this season) was weather any powderpuff attack and hit us when our concentration lapses. Both their goals were exactly that.

The matchday side contained the utter failures of the past with Robinson now a wretched example of a player who needs to move onto another club and start again in at LCB. We have Berge who is simply working his ticket, Norrington-Davies who seriously - is the only alternative option to an already poos Enda Stevens, the midfield a complete fragile mess of Norwood and ... I dunno ... Ndaiye ... McGoldrick (?) and up front leading the line Billy Sharp aged 35, who as it seems has blotted his copybook with an unsavoury altercation with bating Derby wankers after the game. Hardly captain stuff, Billy.

The first half we were in and out of the game. We looked to get a goal, maybe two ahead, but how is this gonna happen when you have shit crossing from Bogle and RND and some frankly head smackingly crap development play from a midfield which looks more like last seasons clueless shitbox, Norwood reverting to base principles and the other two just playing duty traffic cone to Derby's more agile central players.

Second half we completely sank and sank further when McCall and Lester decided to make changes to change the game. It did just that and we simply regressed and died. Two goals, one a Maradonaesque waltz through the final third and the second a failure of playing progression on the edge of their box translated into their player bending it into the top bin thanks to catastrophic recover play (C3PO taking RND out) and again a failure to press and deny shooting opportunity and we are home and hosed.

Simply no excuses. Not good enough United. We should be far better than what was seen today. What saw instead was a side far below the Championship promotion side a few years ago and we have spent £100+m on them.

Foderingham 5/10: No chance with the goals
Bogle: 5/10: Good going forward but cutting inside and crossing was shite
Basham 6/10: Lovely tekkers, but was uncharacteristically skinned for their first
Egan 6/10: Decent first half but in the second he looked bereft of confidence
Robinson 3/10: Nice long throws but defensively he's done at this club. Please move him on where he can regenerate his career and credibility
RND 5/10: Plenty of endeavour and bustle but fuck all to show as an end result
Norwood 3/10: back to last year's levels of pointless hollywood balls and substandard midfield industry
Berge 2/10: Utter shite. A complete waste of a transfer fee. He has nothing at all to offer the English game and is simply lightweight and ineffective, despite many people remaining bone-hard about his capability
Ndaiye 4/10: Lots of graft but with the sum total of fuck all
McGoldick 3.5/10: A poor outing. He's not nearly as sharp or effective as we've seen him in the past. This season should be his last.
Sharp 0/10: Billy loses all his points here for that fucking stupid reaction to wanker Derby fans outside the ground. You are our club captain and our talismanic waypoint through some challenging times. Cunts outside your game don't matter. Leave that for bellends like McBurnie.

Hourihane 2/10: Can anyone tell me why we have signed this berk on loan?
Brewster 2/10: Completely out of his depth. Another useless, waste of money
Osborn 2/10: Just to cap the raft of pointless substitutions

We've just regressed to Slav levels of uselessness with today's outing, foretold by some pretty shit football last week. We have a few short days to sort this shit out or Preston will push us further back down the table and we can solidly forget any bounceback fantasy most of us hoped would happen.

We need a fucking vast clear-out and give January has resulted in zero arrivals or departures apart from the frankly useless Olsen, I don't hold out much hope until the end of the season and if we turn in performances like todays, we might be involved in a relegation battle come the end of the season.

Face it. Sheffield United aren't very good, at all.

Can’t disagree with any of that Pomps. My fear is that the powers that be simply can’t/ won’t take the hits on selling Brewster, McB and Berge. Without the £15m ish (in total) they will bring (and the consequential £50m write down on the balance sheet) there’s no money for acquisitions so it all feels like a catch 22 situation. The only solution I can see is a new owner?

Cannot fault that summary. Exactly as I see it, unfortunately. I am over most defeats by Saturday teatime but todays 'performance' has left me with a mixture of deflation and anger and I don't know which is more acute. I'm really pissed off with Utd tonight despite the remedy beers. Piss poor United and I can't wait to see the back of some of these fuck that lad. g over paid wasters. Berge being the first one out. Heart of a pea that lad and not one to be with in the trenches.

Think you made a typo saying 'Berge is simply working his ticket', surely you meant 'walking'. He was fucking bobbar today, and a 2 out of 10 was generous. He doesn't have a lot of heart when things are going well, when we're in the shit his lack of bottle is fucking criminal. I can excuse RND, Bogle and Robinson, they aren't good enough but this fucker cost a bomb and is supposed to be a baller.

Chris Wilder will in effect have taken us back to the level he took over in 2016. No way to sugar coat the rancid turd that is Sheffield United at present. All this ‘we move on’, ‘overreacting’ etc. I don’t mind losing but half of this lot couldn’t give a flying fuck. £120 million. £120 million to be this fucking shit. Chris giving it ‘the big one’ at Blackpool to the Middlesbrough fans after they won there the other week. I’m starting to get sick of the hero worship of the bloke. He honestly couldn’t give a flying fuck about ‘his’ club. We will not recover for a very long time due to him.

So bad that you have to wonder if the players have forgotten that it's their own career that they are fuckin up with displays like that.
I mean , they can draw their wages + I can hate them for taking the piss out of my beloved club but eventually their contract will run out + they will have to find another job.
Or are they so blase and rolling in money that none of it matters ?
I mean , I know we won't get a fuckin bean of our investment back , but as sportsmen , don't they have any pride whatsoever ?
John Egan is a guy I've respected more than most of the current crop of weeds , but the way he farted around failing to prevent that first goal was just appalling.
If I were the Prince , I would have no hesitation in slapping in my planning application to develop the Lane or selling the freehold to someone who will , coz as a football club we have proved beyond doubt that we are not worth investing in.
If I'm the Prince , there ain't no way I'm gonna pay out of my own pocket for the wages of these pricks masquerading as footballers.

Wow. Got your goat up has it? Holy shit. On the whole I agree. Next time right this when you've calmed down. Like 24 hours later. We were bad no doubt and there is no argument from me. But, we are a midtable team at best. This is what you get in this league from a midtable team. They go through the motions. Win one here, draw there, get embarrassed over here. Nothing will change as long as the same players get picked to start. Maybe pick 3 or 4 u23's as a kick up the arse or a fk off. Don't care but please Hecky.....PUT IN THE YOUNGSTERS.....have a good week Pomps.

I'd love to see Pommpey as the chief sports reporter for the Times. Name another print reporter who can get "pisswatery" , "horseshit" , "powderpuff" and "maradonaesque" into the same report?!

Although I do think he's a secret lover of Ollie Norwood, probably meets up with him on a Sunday for jam and cream scones 😉😂

We are a mid table side and that’s exactly where we are, today was awful to watch, actually felt a bit embarrassed, they appeared to have half a team out from the academy and out ran us and out battled us

If you swap Lawrence with Berge, we win that game.

Berge should not have been on the pitch, he's clearly not back up to speed following injury and looked a complete liability, he needs 5 or 6 games in the under 23s along with brewster to find some fitness and form

Can't you see the only solution for the Prince is a property development on the freehold of the Lane (and I couldn't really blame him - he sanctioned all the money available to strengthen the squad + he's been left with a turd)
Yes and the man who spent it slopes out the back door with a wedge and walks into a job with a chairman who is wealthy and will spend money on the team which historically he's done before.
Be carefull Gibson like Warnock! Wilder's record spending big money is not good as we found out.

We win our last 3 league games then lose away and you advocate knocking the ground down and building on it?

Over reaction of the century.
Not at all.
I'm not advocating it.
I'm dreading it.
I'm looking at what's happened in recent months with the ownership and wondering how on earth we're going to change a squad with no investment.
Which leads naturally to the thought that if promotion isn't achieved before the parachutes expire , the Prince (who's already distanced himself) is not inclined personally to finance a Championship club.
So what are the chances of promotion with a team that has no fight ?
That has disinterested players who we can't shift ?
And even my personal hero Billy Sharp can't plant a free header in the 7 yards available on either side of a goalkeeper.

The lack of desire yesterday and for good portions this season is worrying.

I hear a lot saying it's one game but the greater sample size is all season or 2 seasons than the last 4 or 5 wins where these players have shown almost to a man they are completely out of their depth in a higher level and at this level are bang average. Won same as we have lost and now bottom half.

There are players playing for their future with a number out of contract or who need to restart their career but for the most part they just either are not arsed or not good enough.

At least we can move on a group in a few months with the loan players returning (only MGW been any good), Eastwood, Robinson, Osborn, Mousset, Guedioura, Freeman whom all will leave.

I'd maybe give Sharp, Didzy and Bash another year but that's only because those left are not good enough.

They then have to move heaven and earth to offload Berge, McBurnie, Burke and Brewster. All 4 in 2 seasons have shown they have been a catastrophic waste of money. 70 odd million. Nearly 90 if you throw in Mousse and Freeman amd does anyone see any of these even as first team regulars even good enough for a mid table Champ side?

The summer the club needs a big overhaul. We will lose most of the 90 million spent sadly. We'll struggle to recoup much of it all but normally year 2 of parachute you need to start bringing the wage bill down so expect above if no takers to be sent on loan.

It is a concern that if we are seriously taking about a side going for promotion next season we could probably only say Ndiaye as a starter (he has been in and out too). Maybe Egan, Bogle at a push but we probably need an almost entirely new team/squad. That will take q few years by which time the parachute money will have gone and we be just another average Champ side. Heck we are that now.

Yes and the man who spent it slopes out the back door with a wedge and walks into a job with a chairman who is wealthy and will spend money on the team which historically he's done before.
Be carefull Gibson like Warnock! Wilder's record spending big money is not good as we found out.
Boro doing ok without spending , aren't they in the playoff positions ?

Sharp should have ragged the gobshite allover . Blokes like him need fronting every time

We were well beaten by a team who probably already know their fate. I don’t particularly like Derby...But fair play to em.

Lack of desire is the final straw for me.
I've had a hard time forgiving the catastrophic fuckup of relegation , the waste of eyewatering money , the Wilder mistakes & backdoor exit , the horrible press conference by that idiot lawyer , the disappearance of the owner ...
The one thing I can cling to is to see 11 men giving their all for my club.
But when that's gone , it's not only mystifying , it's heartbreaking + very very difficult to correct.

People mitigating for Berge saying that he needs time to readjust. Well yesterday a comeback Berge contributed just as much as a fit & healthy Berge earlier in the season.

We've had adapting to a new country, needs a run of games, covid, physical nature of Championship, he's in a rubbish side...What next? The texture of the grass in UK is different to what he prefers?

He's a dud. Nothing short of a miraculous turnaround will change that.

More upset by the lack of any desire than the loss. I can take being beaten by a better team but never by a team that works harder than we do. What's more it is not just one performance the season has been littered by these can't be arsed efforts from day one.
When you take a long hard look at our starting line up v Derby very few of them are up to the job, no natural leaders at all to be seen, most of them couldn't tackle a hot dinner. We were soundly beaten by a club in crisis having to let players go and play kids or old journeymen like Kazim Richards who last played for us fifteen years ago yes 15 years. On their bench they had serial failure Ravel Morrison who could hardly get in our squad except for cup games. On the sideline they had Wayne Rooney, fairly new to management but he still did a better job than the bloke in our technical area serial failure Stuart McCall who's only management skills are falling off cars when pissed up.
Sadly three of our better players are at the end of their careers and apart from Ndiaye and possibly Bogle the rest of them need to be fucked off sharpish.

The leage table suggests we are a mid-table Championship side, and despite spunking millions to improve that's exactly where we are and probably where we belong. Yes we'll flirt with promotion the playoffs and relegation every now and again but we are where we're supposed to be really. The Slav appointment promised to change this, albeit short term but without backing he was a Micky Adams 2.0. The new regime makes sense on paper but investing in youth and development is long term planning and you need to tread water for several seasons if this is the approach which is what we're doing now.
Without MGW we're just a workmanlike side with no creative spark whatsoever.

UTB.

What Chris Wilder ? He’s one of our own
