Yes, they never got over that game, as though it was a game that they should easily win. That stupid bint marching around the touchline to confront him, as though it is a disgrace that they are being outplayed and beaten by some tinpot outfit.I think it's great they've had an easy first game.
let's hope the fans inflate the players ego like last time and make the other clubs step it up when they play them..
we can destroy thier season, just like last time we were down here with them, we broke thier whole squad that day.. Carlos said it himself, "we never got over that game" was what he said..
bring it on..
I wouldn't bother, they never pay up!You need to seize this brief flash of giddy optimism to strike a wager with him, if you leave it another fortnight, the opportunity will have gone, never to reappear![]()
I agree with most of this but for me a proper football rivalry is two-way. Without a proper rival a decent sized club can be a bit lost: cf Leeds United. Leeds desperately wants to be someone's rivals but everyone nearby is either smaller (Bradford, Huddersfield) or has their own rival (Man U, the Sheffield clubs). You can probably add Chelsea and West Ham to that list: Chelsea's geographically closest club is Fulham but historically Fulham is much the smaller club and their main rivalry is with another traditionally smaller club in Brentford while West Ham would desperately love for Spurs to reciprocate their dislike but frankly Spurs don't care too much.Yes, they never got over that game, as though it was a game that they should easily win. It just sums up the arrogant and deluded wankers.
Teams have rivalries with clubs that are the same size. It is not always about who is geographically closer.
Celtic's rivals are Rangers, not Partick Thistle.
Forest's rivals are Derby, not Notts County
Leeds rivals are Man Utd, not Bradford (I know it doesn't look very even now, but it did once upon a time)
Newcastle's rivals are Sunderland, not Gateshead
Man Utd's rivals are Liverpool, not Man City (although this is changing)
Liverpool's rivals are Man Utd, not Everton.
When you meet your main rival, most fans are more worried than excited, the feeling of "What if we lose" "What if we lose heavily" is almost unbearable.
But in the minds of Mr & Mrs Pork and their three overweight brats that haven't been to a game since the last time they played United this is just another game that they being at the top of the Premier League will win easily.
The reason they can think this way is because if Wendy lose they can just erase it from the record books and then it never happened, so they can be just as mouthy and deluded next time without any of that worry about getting beat.
Chelsea V Spurs is deffo a big derby - they detest each other. Darren Bent thought the intensity was bigger than when Spurs play the Arse.I agree with most of this but for me a proper football rivalry is two-way. Here you go. The last time it happened:Thanks S64 Blade I'll be keeping this in my back pocket for next week![]()
That’s not the point though is it……..it’s the deludednessThat’s pretty much an empty booking though because I bet you can cancel until a few days before.
My neighbour must be at a lower level of deludedness than mineWithout wanting to question the veracity of your story , there is something about it which doesn’t quite fit .
This is the idea that , following their outstanding victory against a shit Plymouth side , a group of them are making arrangements for the play off final which by their standards would be a very pessimistic approach .
A far more plausible story is the one I’ve heard which is that the Concert Room at Sheffield Lane WMC is already fully booked for the week following the last match of the season by groups wanting to celebrate their promotion as League Champions .

I don't think the midweek games were officially split but Middlesbrough v United and Forest v West Brom were brought forward by a week for a reason which escapes me.Here you go. The last time it happened:

We actually lost our first two and were bottom of table for a short while (the first round of midweek matches were split over two weeks that season). Wednesday then lost their second game on same day we won our third. Until this weekend, they have not been in front since.
Honestly, I wouldn’t as it doesn’t mean anything. We would be doing the same and hopefully will very soon !!
2000s surely? I don't normally bite at these sorts of comments but between 2000/01 and 2009/10 we finished above South Barnsley every season (10/10) and were a division above them in 3 of the 10. Our attendances were pretty similar: they had the (slightly) higher attendances in the first half of the decade but we had the higher in the latter part, with our average over the whole period being 500 higher than theirs. We just need to finish above them. I don't care about promotion tbh. Prem wiped me put last year.
When we do finish above them, it'll only be the 2nd Decade where we've been top dogs for the majority of that decade, in league stature and in the stands. So far in 2020s it's 4 nil to us. Last decade we dominated was in the 1970s so we're due one.
I would be happy to finish behind them if we were in second place !!We just need to finish above them. I don't care about promotion tbh. Prem wiped me put last year.

Not with a decent squad. Remember when we finished 9th !!That would still be horrific.

Was it not ? Apologies if I got it wrong9th?

Very similar to how they are now, they were a proper shit yoyo club in 2000s, but still maintained decent crowds. Finishing with higher averages on 6 occasions. Only our promotion season, season in prem and the next 3 seasons (that spanned into the next decade) did we finish higher in the stands. 2000s av us 21407 them 22221. This decade will be the first since the 70s that we've dominated on both fronts. The one that matters more to us (league position) and one that really bites them (attendances).2000s surely?
