Not without evidence I reluctantly point out, my missus reckons us Blades fans are a pessimistic bunch and even thinks that we often 'will' the wrong result against ourselves via some kind of twisted karma.

So, please answer the above honestly and let's see what we all thought at the time.

When we were amazingly not given that penalty and they went straight down the other end and equalised, what were your immediate thoughts results wise ?

Never been more confident after a setback than that.

I'm not going to sit here and lie to you by saying I knew we'd win, but I was hopeful.

My exact quote was 'here we fukin go again....the useless fuckers'.

I'm fact I chucked a fiver on sky bet at half time on a FLDC 2-1 win at 16's. Pessimistic....me.....never.

I was very pleased that United shoved my natural Blades pessimism up my peachy arse.

For a few seconds I got that sinking feeling and thought we'd nearly win and then draw, would have been saying last 5 minutes gut punch though as the clock ticked down but when the handbags came out I thought 'FLDC have fucked it here'.

Exactly my thoughts too!

Normally I’d say defeat but I said at the game the non penalty decision and sense of injustice would get us going and so it proved to be. If there’s a time when Blades fans get going it’s when there is injustice, a need to fight or being the underdog. The small pockets of Blades players who immediately celebrated Didsys goal all over the pitch proved we are all in this together.

I would have put money on us losing after what happened in that 2 minute spell.

I'd also have put money on Derby scoring with their next attack after the "no penalty" incident as well

When we went 1-0 up I said ‘Billy’s scored....so you know we can’t lose”

Also I felt fairly confident yesterday.
Derby’s build up play was very good but it was quite similar to us (in many games this season).
All very pretty but little penetration and urgency. No long balls, physicality or direct play.
Although Derby looked quite good in possession they didn’t create anything clear cut and never really looked like scoring.

To be honest winning or losing at that point didn't cross my mind, my first comment was about how many more times are we going to miss chances because it's seems to happen every week, mind you with Defoe ,Carol,Long coming in next week I wont be saying it again, will I.

For about 5 minutes I was thinking defeat but once the whole fracas with the 2 sets of players subsided the crowd and players fury turned into something else. It was like 'enough is enough' and we ain't fucking losing today.

It was my 10 year old grandsons third match of the season. The first two were Swansea and WBA. With a couple of minutes to go in the West Brom match I noticed he had a tear in his eye. When I asked why he said that it was his fault we were losing as we'd lost the last one 2-1 as well so it had to be down to him being there.

So you can probably imagine how I felt when they equalized. You should have seen his face when Leon scored. :)

Tell your missus it's realism, experience and an acceptance of the truth, as opposed to living in some pure delusional fantasy that separates us Blades from that lot.

I thought here we go again. Our season in a nutshell. Stonewall penalty turned down. Then opposition turn up with that bit of quality they equalise & escape a certain red card. Another time where We dont have rub of the green. But no one couldve seen us conceding wouldve been turning point. As after brawl in goal net. Utd kept their heads & derby lost their heads with so many unforced errors

I knew we would win when they started to f**kin bounce. I really hoped we’d score whilst they were acting like pigs but knew it would come.

My half-time thoughts were that we were once again doing a very good job of preventing a dangerous side from having enough of the ball to do us any damage. I expected it to follow the script that eventually we'd run out of energy, let up on the high press, and Derby would equalise and get well on top. So when they pinged that free kick in, I thought it was going to the script I'd written.

Fortunately, Derby didn't just equalise, they angered us, and we went all out. When we play like we did after their goal there aren't many teams that can handle us.

I thought we'd lose, mainly based on the fact that as a team we look fragile psycologically at any setback. E.g. WBA scoring to make it 1-1

Complete polar opposite to that in reality. The injustice spurred, not just the fans, but also the team on.

I took my 10 year old grandson too, it’s his 3rd season attending our matches and he’s been a season ticket holder for 2 years.

He said yesterday his probably the best match and defintately the best atmosphere he’s ever experienced at the Lane. We missed the 4-1 against Villa as I was on holiday.

He was so angry when they equalised, st one bit thought he was going to run on the pitch to get at the ref.
Had to explain to him that we’ve had some amazing loud and hostile atmospheres in the past too.

Blades victory. First time I’ve felt that way in that situation this season.

The game played out entirely differently to a lot of games we had thrown away, mainly due to our tactical approach. I think we’re starting to learn how to win tight games against our rivals.

After the ball goes in, I went "SHITT". After the fight I went "COME OOONNNN"

As a natural SUFC pessimist I would normally have expected us to lose. In fact I was trying to get a bet on for a 1-3 loss. However, we were playing well. It was an injustice and I expected Derby to get another lucky strike/decision at some time, but for us to work our way back into it.

before each game, our little group have a guess at the result and score - presume many others do too.

For me it was a case of we HAD to win - it was a necessity to beat a top 6 team/good team near the top and put a marker down for the rest of the season and not wither away to 10th position.

We came good because Wilders team had to come good. It is who we are and what our DNA is - some of our fans should have a little more faith in what Winders teams are all about.

It's set us up for the 2nd half of the season - we are far from finished.

Derby scored a brilliant set piece goal and after that we gave em nowt. Against Leeds and WBA we pissed about at the back too much. Thus the mistakes were inevitable.

That second half performance was something I've been waiting for for a long time . Without wanting to upset some of the more sensitive souls on here ( and one in particular ) , it reminded me of a Warnock style performance when everyone rolled up their sleaves and said " Fuck it , we're going to win this game one way or another ".

Too many times this season we've played like true warriors in the first half , only to turn out in the second and play like a bunch of big girl's blouses and gift the initiative to the opposition with inevitable consequences .

Whatever brought that about , be it the aggro that Derby caused or something Wilder said at half time , we definitely need to keep reproducing it if we are to achieve what we are capable of .

I thought we got the ball into the box much quicker against Derby.

I think against WBA and Leeds we had too many touches to create space for the cross. We look great in possession and run rings round teams out wide with the overlapping and one touch padding, but if we take too long to deliver, it gives the oppositions defence time to get set in good positions and we lose any advantage

As soon as they got the free kick I thought to myself "This is going in, and we know what happens from there".

But the non-penalty decision, the goal, and the scuffle in the net got the crowd going like I haven't heard for a long time and that clearly lifted the players. They kept creating chances, which kept the crowd going, which in turn kept them going. It was fantastic.

Well, after almost 200 replies it looks like she's right, only 20% of us thought we'd win the game and almost 60% thought we'd lose.

New Year's Resolution one and all, have faith :)
