Yeah my dad said atmosphere is class at away games

Your Dad's right. Enjoy the day, young Blade!

I caught the bug as a 12/13 year old in a fantastic season under Warnock.
We travelled around the country that year and regardless of result, the day with close friends was always great and are some of my favourite memories still to this day.

I feel so disappointed I thought you was in your 50s 😩

Preston was my 2nd away fixture, I was a 15 year old gobshite in August 2000. Two of the stands were still wooden terraces. It kept kicking off with the stewards for suggesting that maybe smoking in a wooden stand wasn't an optimal idea.

We were shite and lost 3-0 thanks to a goal from Michael 'The Future' Appleton and a brace from Jon Macken, who made us look very foolish all game.

Still my favourite Lancashire club though....if I really had to choose.

Hold fire hold fire...... the O/P has given off a distinctly piggish odour with some previous threads

Won't say WHICH fantastic season though will he/she...... obviously age sensitive! The question is.... 28 or 31.... or neither???

"Triple assault" season. 32.

Funnily enough, my first ever away game was v Preston in 1969.
Went on the train and had my first under aged pint in a pub, aged 15.
United went 1 up in the first minute and lost 2-1.
I don’t go away these days but couldn’t resist this one, so can’t wait for tomorrow.
As excited as I was all those years ago.

Going to Preston away on Saturday looking forward to it. My first ever away game as well, got tickets for my birthday can’t wait. Come on your blades. Hope Brewdog starts for his hard work for the goal.
Enjoy it, it's a different feel entirely to at home.
It might be a slightly odd one because of the Queen stuff and possible strike, but there'll be plenty there.
UTB

Be an eye opener for ya

And now you’re a 37 year old gob- shite?😳🤔😉

although we have won our last 2 away games, Hull and Swansea, the away form still isn't right. Preston have only conceded 2 goals all season but only scored 3. They have had so many 0-0 draws. They must have a solid defence but an inconsistent attack by the looks of it.

I wasn't referring to the football whatsoever

I think he means the support and atmosphere as an away fan will be the eye opener, rather than the on-pitch.

Indeed. Polar opposite to home games. I sit at back of the kop and away games are much more raucous. Gutted I couldn't do Luton (never been) as that looked a really cramped away end. Love owt like that me.

We are a bit further forward in the kop civilised area ;)
Went to hull and we were 2 people per seat first half, due to crap stewarding.
Yes, much more raucous atmosphere.
Preston is a lot bigger so won't have quite the same jammed in buzz, but will still be a good first away day.

As a youngster OP might not be able to buy pyros and beer though.

Please note that standing and singing are compulsory. Also, watch out for nose bleeds, the stand is a bit steep at Deep Dish.

Will’s my son and he’s a lovely kid and recently turned 16. And by the way laddo, you should be focusing on your schoolwork and not tossing it off on here.

I’m originally from Gleadless but his Mum bless was from Cheshire so I upped sticks and moved there in 2005.

Will, for his sins, was initially a Liverpool fan as it was fashionable at his school to support a ‘good team’. But I started talking him to BDTBL in the Clough era and gradually the boy saw the error of his ways. He now hates Liverpool and loves the Blades.

I don’t know whether to feel guilty for setting him up for years of heartache and disappointment, or proud that he now loves our club and is so passionate about everything we stand for. I’ll go with the latter.

Thanks to everyone who has given him a warm welcome and appreciated the enthusiasm of youth!
