Let her do what she wants, it’s no concern to us. Mumsnet is a fucking cesspit anyway.

Jesus.

Is there any wonder that site gets the stereotyping it does.

Thought the OP on there might be a wum tbh but the number of crackpot responses beggars belief.

It is if the Mothers (parents) of the children the club are trying to attract as future fans are perpetuating some of the mistruths witnessed on there. The club's reputation comes in for quite a kicking with regards its supposed misogynistic approach.

I did mention at the time at it might be a good idea to put the existing female members of staff front and centre and ask whether any women had ever been approached to join the board...

Oh my god where does shit like this stop and by the way this is not a defend Ched post by the way.

There are so many organisations and bodies that have or have had unsavoury characters associated with them. Arguably the UK government is one of them. I suppose the posters on here won’t be turning down their child benefit or access to education anytime soon and while we are on that point how many teachers have been convicted of child abuse over the years? Let’s not allow any teachers access to our children FFS!!!!

Looking at from a different angle,

I wonder how many of them would completely change their tune if it was their son who found themselves incorrectly incarcerated and convicted of the offence of rape.

I watched a film the other night called Rise, it is an Australian film about a young, decent bloke who gets falsely accused and convicted of rape and it shows his time in prison and him subsequently getting acquitted. Watched it with my missus and she has always been very anti Ched Evans, and then I mentioned that was exactly what Ched has been through and she said for the first time she actually felt sorry for him, and between us we have three boys between us and I fear any of them growing up and having to go through something like that,

The idea that the club can somehow transmit bad values simply by association is a bit illogical and, if I were her, I’d worry that I’d be dredging up ugliness (and forcing my kid to comprehend it) unnecessarily. The training day will just be a fun PE lesson.

I don’t see what’s wrong with the rest. She’s allowed to have an opinion, and didn’t express it by banging her fists and frothing at the mouth.

I believe she's wrong to tar other players with the same brush, however protecting the clubs reputation is the responsibility of the club. We knew when we rehired him that it was a controversial issue and that some people will take exception to it. As a business decision it was a risky one and at as a purely footballing decision it really hasn't paid off. For me it's a signing a that's difficult to view in a positive light. At the end of the season it's time to move him on, it represents a fresh start for both parties.

NoFuckingRoomOnMyBroom

Those of you not seeing the issue, are you genuinely that fucking stupid or just being twattish for the sake of It??
The girl was utterly bollocksed, in this bollocksed state she agreed to sex with one man who then contacted Evans who then went to the hotel they were at & despite thinking he was doing something ok snuck into a fire exit rather than enter via the main entrance & then shagged said utterly bollocksed young woman-WHAT A FUCKING MAN, his mum must be so proud!!
Sheffield United proclaim to be a club for families yet despite Evans utterly abhorrent behaviour hand him their shirt & parade him in front of influential young people.

I bet her kids are proud of their mum for such a considered reply.

For what it's worth I sort of agree with your point.
Taking morality out of it and purely analysing the business decision I'm still confused by the Ched Evans signing .
I work in (very low level) management for a large multi-national. When making decision or dealing with incidents I have to ensure protect these things, in order: 1. People 2. The Brand 3. Assets 4. Profit. From a purely business point of view we've forgotten that Sheffield United is a 129 year old club, a brand, something that has more value than any footballer, manager or even whole squad.

Regardless of what people on here may believe about mum's net, the poster highlights the risk we ran. The potential damage to a great brand.
