I've not suggested doing a Fulham. We need to add quality and only 2 out of that list will add quality from last season's side. Freeman for Duffy and Robinson for one of the forwards. You genuinely believe that will be adequate for the Premier League? That strike force doesn't look good enough and the right side of defence looks incredibly vulnerable to me if we're starting with Baldock and Basham (as much as I want him to do well).

But your list isn’t definitive. You’ve very likely got at least one wrong and don’t know what further quality additions there will be. There’s plenty of time and the manager himself says things are ‘ramping up’

You seem to be suffering from premature exasperation...

Suspect the £800k demand is a delaying tactic while the agent hawks Maupay to other potential suitors to see if he can get a better deal for him and his client. If not then he may come back and waive the demand.

Agreed to a point ,he won’t wave the demand he just lower it perhaps 2.5% of the transfer fee rather than the 5% he’s been asking for.
After 5% of fook all is fook all.

I suspect it will represent 5% of the transfer fee, £16m in this case, and I think it will be fairly standard to be fair. I don't agree with the principle for one minute, I believe the player should be entirely responsible for his agent. That way nobody gets upset, but it has been allowed to become the norm by rich clubs who can generally afford it.
Ok. But why should we pay it? What's he actually doing for us? We agree a fee with Brentford without any need for him. He can assist his client in negotiating his salary package. But that's a service to his client, not us. I don't see what he does for us in the deal that equates to us needing to pay him. He's performing a service for this client, not us. We can get Brentford's number out of the phone book to agree a fee. We don't need to pay 800k to some parasitic gobshite to achieve this.

It’s modern football for you, agents are going to get a nice juicy fee. Even if we insist that Maupay pays his agent, one way or another it comes out of the SUFC bank account e.g, Maupay will want a bigger signing on fee or an extra few grands a week.

The only way to look at it is that the total package to sign Maupay will cost the club “x” £££ over “y” years. If we’re happy with that figure, do we really care what the percentage split of that money is between Brentford, Maupay and the agent?

I would suggest Robinson ends our interest in Maupay, signing both would make an already small side even shorter.....I would expect a significantly taller, more physical striker to come in now, hopefully McB, if not it might be someone like Charlie Austin or we may even go back for Madine....(God forbid).

If true we would have Duffy, Freeman, Robinson & Morrison all that play the attacking midfield role and to some extent McGoldrick. That seems a bit overloaded to me.
We were light in the creative dept which would be s problem for us going forward , in both senses of the word

Maybe he thinks some other club will pay it if other clubs are interested. If we get McBurnie and Robinson that will do nicely up top I think, but I have to admit I think Maupay is the pick of forwards mentioned.
We need some height , physical , aerial presence now - not tiny Maupay - should be McBurnie , but not Austin or Madine - who else is there ? Crouch ?

At least we’ll get relegated honourably then.

And yeah, my life is like that. I’ve had to pay plenty of money to parasites to do things like buy a flat, extend a lease, I get overcharged on service charges by incompetent managing agents and can do very little about it, I have to pay for a fucking parking permit to park outside my flat, I have to pay a congestion charge just to take my car into central London but I do these things because I wanted to own a flat, a car etc. It’s my choice - pay the twats or don’t have a flat, a car etc.

And it’s the club’s choice now - pay the agent or don’t sign our first choice striker and settle for second best.
We don't need Maupay now , we need McBurnie

Mousset - oh dear. Not fussed if we don't get Maupay but we need a better alternative than Mousset.

Glad to hear that the Morrison trial hasn't been a waste of time. However I'll still be surprised if he has a big role to play.
Get ready for an exciting surprise then

I was thinking this last night, since we're now signing Robinson. I rate Madine, but I do know he has limitations and ideally I'd love McBurnie. So any alternatives similar to McBurnie? Crouch - definitely no! The others that spring to mind from the Championship are Lukas Jutkiewicz, Lucas Joao and Famara Diedhiou. They all have strength and aerial ability although Joao isn't a target man as such (Fletcher does that) but I'm sure as he develops and gets older Joao will improve that side of his game with decent management. Joao is 6.3ft tall after all! in the case of Diedhiou and Joao, they have pace as well. I think Diedhiou would be expensive though - I can see Bristol wanting £10m for him but knowing how well we do business we might be able to sign for less.

Out of the players I listed, Joao has the most ability, Diefhiou is the one I like the most but when discussed earlier this season I'm sure Bristol fans said that he isn't as good as he looked against us. Jutkiwicz is the most experienced albeit with less sell on value, but he is a decent player and did well for Brum last season. He'd probably still cost us £6m I would guess.

There's Sam Gallagher too of course but I've not mentioned him because he hasn't played much football of late. They'll be more options abroad but I doubt we'll go down that route. Norwich do that to decent effect but in my view, they'll be found out this season in the Prem.

Andy Carroll is another option too but can you see him being fit!? I reckon if we were going after him, he'd be here on trial first - for football that is not Police related ;-)

Whether it’s a fine margin or not is for CW to decide and, ultimately, I’ll respect his decision but it’s around 5% of the likely transfer fee and IMO to lose out because we wouldn’t pay it is spoiling the ship for a ha’porth of tar.
You actually don't know that's the reason - looks to me like CW has fucked Maupay off + bought Robinson for his role , and I can't criticize that decision- strikes me that Maupay has failed the CW test of "do you actually want to join us at the Lane , or are you in fact s blood-sucking mercenary ?

Without knowing how much we'd already agreed to pay the agent, how much the undisclosed fee would have been, and how much a standard agent fee is for said undisclosed amount, that refusal to pay 800k really doesn't mean a great deal
Everyone has sand in their fannies over a supposed demand by an agent but no one really knows if that story is true !
CW may have seen enough of the greedy French twat to realize that he is just another blood-sucking leech , not someone who believes that playing for the Blades is a big fucking honour , which is given only to proper footballers who hold their Clubs success as important as their own.

Jutkiewicz is an interesting one. Was involved in a lot of goals for Birmingham last season, probably another slightly less fashionable option available on a cheaper deal than McBurnie. He’s one I’d look to before Madine.

Not sure how you’ve come to that conclusion. Totally different types of player and I think we’ll have the budget for both. Nothing to suggest otherwise, other than perhaps conjecture about the budget.
