Worst I've seen as well - Yeovil were utter shit and we lost to them. It was the only time I've come away from a game thinking what the hell am I doing wasting my time and money on this lot.

The bury away one the other year, remember driving home and everyone going on about how Jose Baxter had done an interview and looked drugged up. I’ve rewatched that video a few times now and still say to this day he was definitely on the gear that game and what made it worse was The fact he was our best player and most likely to threaten for us that night. I was embarrassed to have paid money to watch that. And now with the messiah in charge your guaranteed to get your moneys worth!! We wont ever even play for a draw these days.
 
For me the Burnley play off. Utterly void of character and I dread to think what would have happened had we actually gone up.

I seem to recall a cup game against Hartlepool with Weir in charge. Unless it was just a nightmare.

Fleetwood at home with Clough in charge.

I remember that game as us being really unlucky, and Franz Carr being unplayable on the right. We just couldn't finish that day. Maybe my mind is playing tricks on me.
 
Bonus points for anyone who can remember the away game where we were losing so Blackwell responded by putting Jordan Stewart on the right wing?

Has anyone ever made a more hilarious tactical switch?

Jan. 2, 1988. Blades 0 Oldham 5. Crowd 9,574

May 10, 2015. Swindon 5 Blades 5.

Oct. 4, 2013. Blades 1 (can't believe I'm typing this...) Crawley 1.

Of course there are many, many more but these stand out as 'the straw that broke the manager's back' as - respectively - Adkins, McEwan, Clough and Weir never managed the Blades again after these fuck ups.

Need Silents help here, but a League Cup 1st round at home to a very poor Stockport County side late 90s. 3nil down after about 10 minutes. So bad the my mind has almost blocked it out. Can't remember the final score though I think we biblical pull one back. Bloke in front of me with wife and two kids said fuck this we're off. Never seen anyone leave with less than a quarter of the game gone before, or since.

That's also my memory of the game. It was one of the many 0-0 draws that season that we would have won had we not sold Deano or signed a better replacement.

I'd forgotten all about this, what a depressing night that was. I think it's the only time I've ever left an away game early as getting an earlier train became far more appealing. I was living in London at the time and I feel like this was right in the rut of a series of depressing games in the area where my mate and I would joke that we'd had a good day out up until kickoff.

I think the final straw for him (I seriously don't think he's been to a match since) was this 1-0 defeat to Palace a few weeks after that Watford game. Another woeful performance with a team made up of so many loanees/players on short-term contracts, it really felt like none of them gave a crap about how we did: Mark Bunn, Kyle Bartley, Toni Kallio, Nyron Noswortthy, Mark Yeates. Marcel Siep (?!) and Jordan Stewart on the bench. This is the game I always point back to as emblematic of how the club lost its way for so long.

This was made worse as it was the first time I'd encountered Palace's "ultras" with their incessant European-style songs (pet hate). Apparently they were 21st at the time, we were 9th, and never laid a glove on them.
 
Probably get some stick for this but Millwall away last season was dreadful. Lacked any creativity or cohesion going forward and were shocking at the back. Some people say we were unlucky not to get a point, but I thought we were shocking. I thought it would be another season of mediocrity.

Little did I know we wouldn’t lose another game for months and we’d win the league with 100 points.

The obvious Walsall H 81, Oldham H 88, Port Vale H 99 have to be up there in the top 10.

First half against QPR and we were 3-0 down. Warnock eased off and sat back in the second half, otherwise it could have been 10-0. We were as pathetic as any United team at their worst and that takes some doing.

Wigan away 2016 under Adkins and we went 3-0 down (again). What should have been a marvellous fighting comeback to 3-3, was still shit and seemed to happen by accident and Billy.

Then the last game under Adkins 0-2 to Scunny. I have seem Blades teams play shitter than that but NEVER show so little care or effort ('endeavour'?). I'd defended NA in the pub pre match saying we couldn't keep on sacking a manager every season. By the middle of the second half I was leading the 'Adkins Out' chants and couldn't believe how he'd allowed a team to be out in front of us and not even try. The booing of Hammond and walking out before the 'lap of dishonour' was at least cathartic.

You certainly weren’t the only one to leave early. Several blades on the same train back to London. Left as the 3rd goal went in.

Look on the bright side of that shitfest, those three points helped keep Palace up, but more importantly sent Wednesday down!
 



Choosing a game not mentioned so far (I think), there was an awful game against Millwall in '85 which I recall for two main reasons.

It was a game when John Fashanu totally bullied our defence to the point where they all looked scared of him. As a result, the welcome mat was neatly laid out and Millwall pissed all over us. It finished 3-1 to them with a late goal from us of no consolation. But my biggest memory was the anger in the crowd during this game as we meekly surrendered, I can't remember it being as bad before or since, even with far bigger crowds in attendance.
