We've not had many lately so I thought I'd have a good old reminisce about bygone days when the Blades were still capable of bringing us out in cold sweats with their performances.

I have some contenders in no particular order and I'm sure there are plenty others to add....

2016/17
Southend home L 0-3 (seems like a lifetime ago)

2015/16
Shrewsbury home L 2-4
Bury away L 0-1
Burton home L 0-1

1987/88
Oldham home L 0-5

For me, a game that sticks out was when we played Coventry at home on Boxing Day, either 1992 or 1993. We lost 0-3 and it was truly awful. When that Bassett side played well, it was exciting and effective but when they didn't play well it could be awful. We couldn't string two 'hoofs' (for Pinchy ) together and it's the only time I've left a game more than a few minutes early, on 66 minutes after they scored their 3rd to be exact.

As soon as I saw the thread title the 2-4 Shrewsbury and 0-3 Southend match stuck out to me, they’ll forever haunt me, after the Shrewsbury game I didn’t attend another game for 2 months, the longest I’ve ever gone without going to a game, I really did want to jack it all in and pretend I was a ice hockey fan, but I think sometimes a bit of mutual time away from each other does couples good and I went back and although it took us a bit of time to build our relationship back up, I’m glad to say me and the other half are doing brilliant we’ve had a whirlwind last 12 months and made some great memories together.

Carlisle United 1 Sheffield United 0, 14 September 2013.
Lovely day, nice local ale followed by one of the most insipid, comatose performances I've ever seen against an awful Carlisle team who went down, had two points from six games at that point and had lost two of their previous three home games 5-1 and 4-0.
Weirball at its finest.

Definitely not the most inept per se, but one that has always stuck in my mind is the home defeat to Ipswich the season we got relegated from the Championship.

I was absolutely dumbfounded by the worst gutless surrender of a football match that I'd ever seen. Think we lost 2-1 or 2-0 & I just knew from that game that we were done for. There have been a few since, but that one in particular haunted me for many months afterwards.

Robbo's last home game, first time I've ever left early, about 75 mins into game. When I got outside loads had the same idea. Real low point

Relative to the importance of the occasion I would have to nominate the Wolves and Burnley play-off defeats. Both pathetic no-shows in matches where the fans deserved at least some heart and passion.
I'll not include the Palace/Hudders games where both teams just cancelled each other out in attritional shitfests.

Yep, was gonna cite this one. Left early to go to that chip shop behind the stand.

Remember Jonathan Forte getting pelters if memory serves correctly!
He did, he had an absolute ‘mare, I felt sorry for him.

Doyle can over to the fans during the second half to plead that we stay behind them but they really didn’t deserve it.

Losing 3-0 at home to Palace in 2004 (the season Dowie got them promoted).

Don't know why it stands out but we were shite.

Bury away league cup tie on a Tuesday evening. Bassett in charge and sent them straight back out at half time. Made to stand around for ten minutes waiting for Bury to come out for the second half.

If I remember correctly Mark Blount was at right back

Home Burton, 1-0, most inept, pointless 'run out' I've ever witnessed at home. Don't think we mustered a single shot for 85 mins....and the annoying thing about it is, Burton were shit too.

2010 - Mentioned earlier - 3-0 at Watford.

First game I'd taken the ex Mrs too, she said it was the worst team she'd ever seen. I was embarrassed and the unfortunate thing about it, I couldn't argue with her.

Stevenage 4-0 Sheffield United (One game wonder scores a h)
Portsmouth 3-0 Sheffield United (bloke in front of me fell asleep before half time, 80% left at 2-0)
Sheffield United 2-4 Shrewsbury (You're not fit to wear the shirt)
Burton Albion 0-0 Sheffield United (Scougs and Reed ridiculously bad)

Thankfully I missed the Southend game, and the aforementioned Bury/Port Vale/Crewe "efforts"

Crikey that Oldham game was my first ever, after Shrewsbury at home I said to my Dad this is rock bottom, then when we lost to Southend beginning of last season we said this HAS to be rock bottom!

Man I've seen some shite matches!
