Having listened to the interview what Mr Adkins failed to mention in his 'United Together' rallying call is that the Players & Management are getting paid (very handsomely) to produce shit performances whilst the fans have to pay to watch those same shit performances - We're all in it together ?? I don't think so Mr Adkins !

He actually did say United Together at one point, I laughed out loud.

What was even more hysterical is this following exchange between him and Giddings (9mins 10seconds): http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p03jz3pj

Giddings - "do you think players being out of contract in the summer is affecting the players mentality" (or something along those lines)

Adkins - "the minds a wonderful thing, well who knows whats going on in peoples minds. There was a Pixar movie recently, you know, the one where there are people living inside peoples minds....so who knows whats going on in peoples minds".....WHAT????? His answer to that question was to talk about a cartoon film.

Imagine Pep, Fergie, Wenger, even Allardyce or Warnock coming out with that crap in an interview. He gave that answer to a very serious and valid question. He then followed up with saying "no matter if your out of contract your playing for one, you have to go and perform in the arena."....I'm sorry Nige but this isn't ice hockey. We don't play in Arena's, we play in stadiums, on football pitches. Just another one of his many 'Brentisms".

I'm sorry, but anyone who thinks this was a good interview are as out of their minds as Adkins is. Truly cringeworthy listening, just jargon.

This talk about creating a blue print for how "Sheffield United Football Club" will play is just fanciful crap again. We've been trying to do that every since Blackwell and the club came out with the "Blades Way", which itself was just a fad that every other club were doing, passed on down from the F.A. Every club has a "Way" now. It's just lip service.

In defense of Adkins he didn't actually say things may get worse, Giddings said that, he said we may need to feel more pain. I agree with that, we're going to feel a boatload more pain having to listen to his interviews for however long he's at the helm. We'll feel a lot more pain when he tries to play like Barcelona in League 1 with league 1 players and we are mid table next year.

I agree the Pixar stuff was a useless analogy but he was overt about players out of contract. He said they need to be fighting for a new contract and they are judged by performance on the pitch. They can be under no illusion where they stand. If some of them don't give a fuck (which may be the case) that isn't Adkins fault.

Stripping away the jargon, I do feel this was the most revealing and useful interview for a long time.

Credit to Giddings and I feel because Adkins has spoken to the owners this week, there is more honesty around the mess we are in.

Link to interview approx 14 minutes.

6 min in. The keyboard warriors fault who listen on the radio.

Lol....So there you've been told!
Ever thought of writing headlines for the daily telegraph. Went on to listen yo that and not quite what was said was it. More like maybe some people who listened to the radio made points on line then others joined in and it snowballed. Perhaps like the it's going to get worse this season snowball on this thread when it was more like it might get more painful until we get it right. I don't agree with his point but can see what he means.

Don't get me wrong, it was an awful performance but IMO not even the worst this season.

Where did he say what you put in quotation narks around the pixar movie? He didn't did he. He referred to it saying something along the lines of there was anger and emotion in the head in that movie obviously alluding to what could be going on in the minds of players soon to be out of contract.

9min and 10 seconds onwards.

Yeah, he talked about the pixar movie, about different characters living in someones head in the movie representing the different emotions. The very fact that he went on to ramble about a bloody pixar movie and use that as an analogy is ridiculous. Just blabbering nonsense. Imagine being a player listening to that crap. No wonder they aren't motivated to play for him.

If you want it word for word here it is:

"the minds a wonderful things, there so much that goes on in peoples minds that unless your actually in there then who's knows. There was a good pixar movie, cartoon, film that came out not so long ago, I thought it was brilliant, it had all the different characters in the mind, they had the anger one, and the emotional ones, so who knows whats going on in peoples minds"...Ha ha ha ha, what utter nonsense.

He then goes on to say people are playing for their contracts. Which is what he should have just said straight away without blabbering on about a bloody fictional cartoon.

That's better. That's what he actually said but not quite the same impact to have a pop about eh. ;)

Ha ha, the longer quote is actually worse. I just missed the bit out about him talking about the different characters. He actually uses fictional characters, living in side someones head, in a cartoon movie to highlight that we don't know what's going on inside someones head. It's priceless.

I can't wait for his next interview "Fred Flinstone shows great endevour when he's running in order to power his car, we need the players to show the same work rate and endevour."

Actually not a bad analogy.

Wow, the guy is bonkers.

Basically, if we lose on Sat, it will be the fault of the supporters!

I don't want to see another change in manager but this is just drivel. Adkins is highlighting issues now that he should have addressed months ago. Why has it taken him so long to get it? He's been in charge 8 months now and I don't see one area where we've moved forward.

Clough had some sort of idea how he wanted us to play, even if a lot of people didn't like it. Now I suspect some of the players don't have a clue from game to game, 'cos it seems like Adkins is admitting he doesn't know what the long-term plan is either?

I don't want to hear empty statements about what we need - what I'd like to hear from Adkins is exactly how he plans to achieve this footballing utopia where we storm to promotion using our new foolproof "blueprint" (shouldn't it be "redprint")? If it involves yet another approach for Dan Burn I may very well spontaneously combust.

Well Fulham have signed another defender until end of season

And he teed up the question leading to that Pixar flight of fancy with a charming tale about pruning the roses in springtime. Lovely stuff.

to be honest I would love to hear anybody on this forum try to speak to the media for more than a couple of minutes without making an idiot of themselves, it's great (and easy) to be the critic when you don't have the balls to do it yourselves. Up the Blades!!!

Jesus, just listened to the whole thing.

Plus point, he slagged off the players. Minus points, he talked none-stop stage managed bullshit. Politicians aren't as bad. key phrases, key phrases. Utter shite.

What would you do? Here's the situation. There's zero leadership from the top, with McCabe pretending the problems are nothing to do with him, the 'prince' fucked off and wanting his money back, and the board, as lightweight a set of business managers as have been seen outside the auditors of Enron, at daggers drawn. Meanwhile the squad, never the sharpest tools in the box, are in meltdown. Pos Nige doesn't want another fuck up on his cv so what does he do? - only one thing for it - put a brave face on.

As the poet Waters said - hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way. I'll put my money on PN to clear out the shit and do the best he can with what he has left.

Is there any evidence for any of this?

Or one minute. In fact that gives me an idea for a radio programme.

Pretty simple to say some of those things without directly saying them. He actively and positively talks about the Board.

Is there any evidence for any of this?

Yes, my fevered imagination.

But....I do work in transatlantic company full of silos, lunatics, incompetents (at all levels) ego maniacs, control freaks and also a lot of normal and capable people, I speak with everyone from the CEO to the cleaners so I do know a bit about what goes on in these organisations.

You should meet our Florida based sales director.....he's great guy but he could and would sell 'our' Saudi sand, and laugh about it afterwards.

It was a very good interview imo. He was honest, forthright and determined. He was referring to the movie "Inside Out" in which various emotions take form. He was making the point that our minds can drag us in all kinds of different directions, which is a very valid one when you're talking about the mentality of footballers. Unfortunately he forgot the name of the film and if you haven't seen it, Adkins' observations might be a bit lost on you. But that's no reason to slag him off. It's easy to take the piss out of any manager, especially one under pressure, but I like his attitude.

I've seen it. Great film, shame about the junior school level philosophy from Adkins.

Given we've played poorly and lost in two out of the past three games, is there anything that Adkins could say in an interview that would appease people?

Maybe saying we played poorly and lost two of our last three games and not lying? The post Bury interview was laughable. Bright start? Better team? Multiple chances? ref blaming again.

Agreed. This makes me feel so much more confident than his normal nonsense spin.
Likewise

We all know it's going to seem worse, we'll have a bare team in the summer with everyone (hopefully) being released or sold - we're going to have to be very patient in building the new team. But after all that it'll hopefully be worth all the heartache.

A new team full of young, dynamic talent who care about the shirt and care about getting this club out of league one not just their wage/getting drunk/getting high. Stuff dreams are made of eh?

If this squad goes up then we would come back down with fewer than 20 points next season. We'd also get battered by Los Porcos. No thanks.

On that Adkins interview - he's furious. Major squad changes on the horizon.
I have a feeling "Los Porcos" won't be entertaining Championship sides next season.
