Appointed Hibs manager. Is this tweet not a little patronising though? Almost like the A-League was pointless and now he's "made it"

Doesn't even mention the Australian league?? So how can it be patronising towards them?
Just mentions he's a manager in Scotland and wishes him well.....would imagine there was a similar message wishing him luck when he got the Australian job.

I just found it strange.
I get tweeting a congratulations to a former player on being appointed for their first managerial role, but he's literally just moving club.

yeh I see what you mean but it's not meant to be patronising.
It's just that's a big move for him, changing country and a progression.
Think if he'd have moved from Scotland to a big Australian club then there would have been a similar message of support.

Hibs are a reasonably big club (average 16K) from the capital city in a bigger league than Australia, so it is a step up and will be interesting to see how he copes.
If he does well there....then the next progression is the English league, probably a decent sized league 1 club.
He's a Leeds lad...makes you wonder if Bradford City try to tempt him....sooner of later.

Be great if he could upset the big boys up there and somehow win a league. Borderline impossible task, mind you.

Aberdeen were the last to do it in 1985

Think you are being a bit overly sensitive there. Why would we mention his former club? Bit out of the ordinary for the club to comment on a ex player at all on social media like this but no need to post his CV

My point was how they seem to be offering a massive congratulations to him like he's just been given the best job in football.
We do/did similar when Jagielka, Walker and Maguire etc. captain England or reach milestones for the country - I get that.

He's just won the A-League with Central Coast Mariners - their second ever title. That is a fantastic achievement.
I've just never seen such a fanfare around someone moving to Hibernian before. Will they congratulate him if he lands a job at say Derby next time?

I just found it bizarre 🤷‍♂️

Scottish premiership isn't a great level but it's miles above the A league and I have watched a fair few games as it's pretty much the only thing on at 7am on a Saturday It's obviously a upwards career move for him.

I don't really get why you have a issue this whatsoever unless you were a A league ultra!

Think he's bonkers personally. Australia to Edinburgh!? But hopefully it leads to a career in management at a decent level, assuming that's what he wants. Seems like a nice bloke, obviously got some ability as a manager, hopefully he can make the step up to doing it in the UK. GLTTL.

Didn't know until a few minutes ago he's at Tottenham as assistant coach. He's done well for himself ,- not bad for someone who was mocked endlessly by the wags behind us as 'toblerone feet'
