Monty loyalty

I don't think Monty's loyalty can be called in question here, i think the big question is what the hell is happening at the club if we can't afford his terms and conditions. I wouldn't have thought he would have been asking for much more than £7-8k per week which is probably going rate for a player like him.

Still, it doesn't stop a huge bunfight kicking off between the usual protagonists.

Some of these threads are more boring than Blackwell's football.

Don't you think he's performed well alongside Williamson recently? He's twice the player Harper is.

I think i'm twice the player Harper is at the moment, I really don't know whats up with him.

My pairing would still be Monty & Willo.

If your reading Keenzy, told you I was gonna do a Harper on Wednesday... about half an hour of being complete dogshite :D

Waving my hands around shouting a lot and generally being shite. Some of our fans are like Magpies, something flashy catches their eye they think its the dogs bollocks.

aside from the footballing arguments.. although i'm not his biggest fan you can never question his commitment to the team.. i reckon we've established that he isn't a billy big time (as someone earlier pointed out).. in the current climate the wages thing is a smokescreen .. so the question really should be.. a bloke who has proven himself loyal to the club over many years suddenly wants to leave.. why?

Ok your highness, I apologise. See below.

You know full well. Plus I explained it in an ealier post ......

"In the Kilgallon loyalty thread (which you started) you slagged Kilgallon off and questioned his commitment, because he was out of contract. I rather tongue in cheek, and being very pedantic, started this thread questioning Monty's commitment. Remember now?

I brought to light Monty wasn't playing well, making a lot of mistakes, giving away penalties etc and said it could be down to his contract being up (same logic as you questioing Killa). Of course I was being a pedantic arsehole, but now it appears it could be true. My 'conspiracy theory' that Monty was not playing well cos his heart isn't in it, he has fallen out of love with United, he wants to impress other clubs and la de da looks like it could be true!?"

my tongue in cheek comments that Monty was not playing well because his contract is up, he is trying to impress new employers and is over keen, he is no long committed to the club etc. They could be deemed as conspiracy theories because few people believed them.

Not sure what you mean by this.

you've seen it.

he has given away 3 penalties. Leicester away, Ipswich at home and the other excapses me. However my lord, I'm sure I can look it up if necessary.

The 2 most entertaining home games I'd say were Cardiff and Plymouth, but I'm sure that is not what you meant. If you were looking for our best performances then I'd say Bristol and Palace. Bristol of course had Monty and Willo and Palace Williamson and Harper. Something tells me it was more the Williamson factor that contributed to us playing better in both games.

No he is trying too hard and making stupid mistakes (such as giving away 3 penalties this season). Not only that but he doesn't really care about the club and hence despite running around a lot and trying to impress his new employers he isn't that effective. After all his contract is up, he turned down a new one. If he is biding his time to play for another club why should he risk injury by going in too hard? (same logic as Killa pulling out of tackles). In fact I am absolutely certain he would have won that header against Plymouth a few weeks ago if he really cared about United. The way he jumped suggested he didn't really want to get injured and hence he lost the header and they scored a goal.

Presume this is rhetorical and have no real clue what you are talking about, but yes!?

Your beloved Nick Montgommery of course!!?

There you go, questions answered. Happy now Boo. You ask a lot of questions. Kind of like an annoying 4 year old child. I don't know if I'll have time to answer the next batch, but i'll do my best.

Not going for tit for tat, its too much.
So you believed you started this as not too serious but now it seems you have an answer to everything that people put forward in support of Monty.
your doing an awful lot of quoting in answering peolpes posts NOT just mine. So I will assume now you dont like Monty and he has nothing to offer for your team and you now want credit for convincing yourself to take this serious.
The thing is if people believe Monty is good or crap no one believes your theory that he is or has been distracted by contract negotiation (according to all parties still on going) but people did in Killas case.

Oh had to check this out coz i still dont understand who Monty is in a conspiracy with.

conspiracy theory

–noun
1.
a theory that explains an event as being the result of a plot by a covert group or organization; a belief that a particular unexplained event was caused by such a group.

Sorry please explain for Mr 4 year old :fishy: and how did you Know my age?
PS sorry I annoy you please forgive me (tongue in cheek of course):p

So we stand to lose another player that has connections with the fans, Morgs will be sold next...And we're left with Paddy.

Just another way to rip the soul out of our team.

care to say how Monty has connections with the fans?
As long as i can remember Monty has divided opinion. Not exactly a fan fav was he?

Monty's has had his head turned by his boyhood club. Has one of our former players been whispering in his ear?

You don't annoy me Boo, more over you have me in fits on laughter when you constantly misinterpet my tongue in cheek comments and get wound up.

You assume wrong again my friend; I do not dislike Monty. But don't you think it is fishy that he is out of contract and he is playing badly? Is it unfair of kme to makre the link between poor performance and his contract being up at the end of the season? Am I jumping to conculsions if Monty has turned down a new contract (potentially implying he no longer wants to play for United) and his dip in form? Should I not question that Monty is no longer committed to Sheffield United?

Did you see the way Monty challenged for the header with the Plymouth striker in the recent home game Boo? I think he could have jumped higher and won the header. Maybe he would have put in that bit extra effort had if he really cared about Sheffield United!?

p.s. how very arrogant of you to speak for 'everoyone else'. How do you know that "no one believes your theory that he is or has been distracted by contract negotiation (according to all parties still on going) but people did in Killas case"? Have you been sectretly conducting interviews or a poll?

In light of the recent 'Kilgallon Loyalty' thread (and some comments made by Grecian 2000) I want to question the loyalty of Nick Montygommery to Sheffield United football club.

Similarly to Kilgallon, Monty's contract is up in the summer. Similar to Kilgallon monty has put in some under par performances this season. Monty has given away 2 needless penalties this season that have lead to goals and us losing points. Not only this but he was responsible for goals against Swansea, Coventry and QPR. He has been under par for the majority of the season and made a lot of uncharcteristic mistakes.

Many people on this forum believe that a dip in form and a contract running out are linked, or highly correlated. Boo radley ceratinaly thinks this. As Monty has not been playing as well as he has in previous seasons and his contract is up in the summer then I feel the need to question his commitment to United. Is the reason why he is not playing so well and keeps making mistakes because he has a contract on his mind? Even the biggest Monty lovers must admit that he is not playing a patch on how he played last season. Is this because his contract runs out in the summer. By using the same 2+2=5 logic that Boo radley and company use in that Kilgallons poor form in our bad spell earlier this season is down to his contract expiring in the summer of 2010, then this must be the case!!??

Surely players looking for a new contract (either here or elsewhere) will up their performances. If he had signed for another club and was just seeing out his contract with under par performances I might agree with you.
I just don't see what they gain by playing poorly.

As for loyalty, signing a new deal isn't loyal. He agreed (via his contract) to play for Sheffield United for x amount of seasons, he has done that and has now decided to move on. Probably got something to do with both the contract offers being for significantly less money that he is on now.
I can't blame him for seeing what the external market values him at before agreeing on a pay cut. Funny that the club statement didn't mention improved or comparable terms in there press release about him turning the new deal down.

Sorry if I've covered anything already mentioned, I got bored of the reading all the thread halfway down page 2 :)

I think you've missed the point of the thread Bob, although i'm surprised you didn't remember the original one.

Quickly, Boo started a thread statiung that Kilgallon was pulling out of challenges and generally not putting the effort in (around December/January time) as he didn't want to get injured and was on his way to another club soon. He implied, because Kilgallons contract was up, that he was performing poorer than normal. I thought it was nonsense. To highlight it was nonesense I started up a thread questioning Monty's loyalty as he was also playing poorly and out of contract in the summer. Of course I was being pedantic and silly, but I continued my tongue in cheek posts becuase of the reaction I got. When Monty turned down a new contract I couldn't resist throwing the bait out. I started saying myabe my tongue in cheek comments are actually true (but of course I had my tongue in my cheek again). Sure enough I got some biters and here were are now.

In answer to 1,2,3,4 above.

1. Make your mind up you called me anoying now I'm not?
Did you really reignite this debate just to try and get some sort of bite out of me? if you did you tongue in cheek ironic humour seems to have back fired your doing all the replying. Come on lets keep it going till May in fact lets dig the Killa thread up again.
If you did you really reignite this debate just to try and get some sort of bite out of me,Thats sad and obsessive Wow arn't i popular and i'm going to report you to the police for stalking.

2. That bits now getting boring, how many people have gave you an answer to that point? Yawn yawn yawn.

3. so you said ealier he was trying to hard, now he's not trying hard enough?

4. Tut tut i'll slap miself (and enjoy it). Damm forgot because i was on a football forum and talking about two particular threads that the 'NO ONE' could be misconstrued as meaning 'ALL THE BLADES FANS' who havent even seen the two threads and the 'PEOPLE DID IN KILLAS CASE' the same.
so dont quote 'everyone else'
the poll if you like is the two threads.

come over ere ave go ave a go:D

Oh you still havn't explained who Monty is in a conspiracy with?

Killa thread Go on Olli you know you want to.;)

Ah ok, sorry for taking it seriously.

Thing is Bob, Should i be worried? he's coming after me I'm being stalked.
As he said 'boo started it' and i've obviously upset him. I tried apologising on

I likened your number of questions to that of an annoying 4 year old child. I didn't directly say 'you are annoying'

Part of the reason I reignited this thread was to see if I could get a rise of of you. Of course you know that (I said what do you think of that Boo in the thread). But part of it was just to throw the bait to anyone. I don't see why it is sad, or slef righteous or whatever. It was purely meant for a bit of a laugh. This whole thread was not supposed to be taken seriosuly and it's a shame i'm having to explain that to people.

Reigniting the Killa thread is just silly, I opened this one up again because it was topical. Monty turns down a contract and my 'conspiracy' suddenly looks like it could be true (of course it doesn't really but it could be argued that way).

Your point number 4 makes little or no sense to me. Still i'm not really that fussed as this debate is pretty much over. Every other bugger has seen that my inflammatory, tongue in cheek comments for what they are and are no longer biting. Hence I am going to leave it at that. Go ahead and have the last word if you like .......

(And Monty is in conspiracy with myself of course!?)

ah contrair I find it amazing that you suckered yourself in so much and at last you've noticed whats happened.

Just had a look through and found out tha Boo never replied to you original post until page 5 and did so with 'tongue in cheek' that you never noticed.
It seems your atempt to play totally back fired and he 'stiched you up like a good un'

and how daft do you look after continually repeating those questions the way Monty has played in the last few games. And especially after tonights performance.

If he was loyal, he'd have flicked it up and belted it in the top corner instead ;)

Conspiracy theorists would have you believe that he only scored such a good goal so that he gets a decent move or an improved contract.

It'll look good on his agent's video montage

Lets face it there wont be alot in that video montage.

I don't knbow why I am wasting time replying to you, but thanks for your valuable contribution anyway!?

Beat me too it!?

Wow, the maestro really put himself in the shop window last night didn't he!!!? ;)

WOW, you will be pleased, especially so as you couldnt make your mind up if he was playing poor (in your estimation) deliberatly. Now you must be confused, you being a Monty Lover an-all. I now see why you got so upset at the prospect of him leaving You must have felt betrayed.

It is true that I am confused, but more so by your message than anything else.

I can only presume that Monty got wind of potential clubs watching him last night and put a real shift in. His agent has probably being saying, 'look put in the work rate, but cut out the silly errors and penalties' est voila!?

It makes a change that he actually played well last night. Well done Monty .... keep that up and you might just earn yourself a premisership contract for next year!!??

'I can only presume that Monty got wind of potential clubs watching him last night and put a real shift in.'

Bit harsh. One thing you can never accuse Monty of is not putting in a real shift. Sometimes his distribution is not so hot and last night it mostly came off for him but he didn't get around the park any more than normal last night and always breaks up the opposition like he did last night most games.
