All good writers work can be interpreted in many ways, but may I suggest that he might be talking about a player that is taking the best part of a million from the club on a year whilst not being able top pass a ball 5 yards. He could of course be referring to the KOC 'Ollecising' his posts, but then I think Grecian knows that Eratosthenes was actually right and way ahead of his time.

Monty is a marmite player, and I'm on the hate side. People can quote all the stats they want but at the end of the day he's not a footballer. Never has been, never will be. Sure he's done "a job" playing a certain way under Warnock, Blackwell, Adams etc but thats all. United have moved on as a team since Montys heyday, and I say that with tongue firmly in cheek, and I believe Monty no longer fits in with uniteds style of play. Doyle is a very similar player to Monty, but I believe he has the edge due to his better passing ability, so in my view it leaves Monty surplus to requirements. Giving that he should be allowed to leave after being granted a testemonial.

Sure that was the headline on an issue of Flashing Blade. Whatever attacking qualities Monty had were slowly honed out of his game to become the midfield stopper / man marker - doing a job as required by the manager (s).

It was a match vs Watford that was on tv up here. Devlin couldn't get past their left back (I think it was thought he wanted to leave at the time), then Monty came on and either got past him or was chopped down quite a few times. When he was younger (in the youth team) he was known for making good forward runs on and off the ball.
