It's arguably the right time for him to go but a little sad to see someone who has given his all for the club and been here for a long time disappear quietly out the back door like this.

As expected, he leaves us for a club in a higher division despite so many of our fans slaughtering his lack of ability.

All the best Monty.

Yes, I for one am furious that our ready made replacement for McDonald is being sent out on loan rather than given the opportunity to mastermind our promotion drive.

We were in a higher Division whilst benefiting from his "ability" now we arn't.

Good luck Millwall, and Thank You :p

The guy has given us his career no matter what you think of him as a footballer. I think the time is right to get him off the wage bill but people should pay the man more respect. He isn't the reason we are where we are.

Monty never shirked a challenge and always gave 100%. His ability may well be questionable but several managers saw something in him. Now we are playing on the deck however I think he becomes surpluss to requirements.

Good luck Monty and good luck Wall. Another good move by DW.

From a playing POV probably the right time to go.

From an experience time, this might not be too clever. He's the only member of the squad that went up in 05/06 that we have left (with the possible exception of S Quinn). That experience might have been invaluable in the run-in...

Sad? It is a truly fantastic start to the week.

Good riddance.

Millwall - you have made a terrible, terrible mistake. This bloke is a truly shocking footballer.

Possibly, though his replacement in the team has experience of promotion from this division too don't forget.

I would hope that this means we bring in some quality to give us a lift, because otherwise I don't see the point of getting rid of someone that would be in the team in the event Doyle is injured/suspended.

I'm no fan of Monty but agree with Coops that it's sad for him to just 'disappear'. I know many, like Mic, will totally disagree and link his disappearance to his passing / control / goals tally etc.

For me it's a good move as hopefully we can try and bring in a winger (total lack of width and quality on Saturday again) but surely no one can fault the commitment and loyalty of Monty in an age when most of his hate the way players no longer build careers with one club.

All the best Monty - you never gave anything less than 100%

It's been obvious DW doesn't care if he's here or not since he arrived. No surprise, and neither are the childish "good riddance" posts on here.

Not a Wilson fan but he deserves a medal for this, just hope he uses the wages to bring in a decent winger.

Well he hasn't gone for good only on loan so he could be back playing for us at a later time, though I doubt it. Whatever our thoughts on him he was a player that always gave 100%. |He played pretty much every game in a team that won promotion to the premier league and would have stayed there if it wasn't for other factors. On the other side he played pretty much every game for a side that was relegated to League 1 and now cannot get in our side so there is fuel for both sides in this argument.
I will just say thanks and good luck

A good decision if it allows us to bring in a player of the type we need.

Isn't Monty due a testimonial? More than ten years here.... Blimey.

I thought we paid him for it?

We paid for him when others didn't want to.

Good servant granted but someone who has been needed off the wage bill for a while now.

He hasn't performed at this level which was rather surprising to say he has played in the Championship and Premiership.

One might assume McDonald is ready.

Thought Colin would have come in for him before now, you can't deny his commitment unfortunately he's not advanced in his ability as the years have gone by.

Can we leave the insulting nicknames for our managers to our rivals?

Let's hope Walthy is busy practising his budget defence for a couple of days then.

Ahhh - budget week, Darren probably has the whole week freed up to debate "we are all in this together" but the high earners get to pay less Tax .....
