A MILLION quid for Monty!?

Some of you are so far beyond being deluded its scary.

We are in league one, he is on big wages, and a very average player.

Time for a few of you to wake up and smell the fair trade coffee.

Yeah - I really think Monty was incredibly loyal signing his 10k a week contract, nowt to do with inept management and a failure to recognise a totally spent force. Whoever signs hiom is making a really terrible mistake as he will ruin the entire style of any team (that's his own team not the opposition).

Please god let this rumour be true.

But he could have gone elsewhere on a couple of occasions, presumably for more money as there were rumours of Prem clubs (I believe Brum was one) being interested.

We ll miss all his goals, think we need a change and so does he , morgans been on radio asking him to stay , but I think its probably a good time for him and us to move on

500k is more realistic Id say , if he did score goals maybe a mill ,as he breaks up play well , but his lack of net bulging ability has always been his drawback

As with all these transfers, it depends where the money goes.

As I said the source was as reliable as you can get, lets call them Mick Nontgomery. I'm not someone ITK it was a chance meeting the words came from them not me.

So Monty passed information to you? It must be woefully inaccurate. He was probably trying to tell someone else 20 yards away from you.

How Man utd could have done with a midfielder like Monty on Saturday night......

He'd have been ideal. There's no-one better at chasing around aimlessly whilst vastly superior players run rings around him.

If we can mug L**ds to part with a million for Monty then we are laughing.

I am just surprised clubs are still rumoured to be after him.

Well I think a fully fit Fletcher was what Man U actually needed.

As opposed to Michael Carrick who just watched the game pass him by.

Just taken this from Wiki ...

Montgomery is eligible to play for Scotland after turning down an opportunity to play for England after interest from Sven Goran Erikson. He then later featured for the Scotland U21 side in 2003. He made his debut in a 1–0 victory over Austria on 29 April scoring from 50 yards.

I'm not sure what surprises me most, the fact that Sven showed an interest or that he scored from 50 yards, anyway just emailed [email protected] with the link.

Brilliant Pinch. The RAPFA certainly welcomes this news and hopes that it is definate.

I feel that clubs will realise Monty is a high earner and we need to shift him and use this to their advantage. I cannot see them offering anymore than 500k. Realistically it might be less. A 250k bid (undisclosed of course) and McCabe/the baord will snatch their hands. Not only is it a bit of cash, but it is over half a million off the wage bill.

I don't think there was anything Man U could have done on Saturday to alter the course of that game. Barcelona were simply far too good.

500K in the bank, 10K a week saved in wages McAllister takes his place in the team, simples ;)

This is the kind of squad building Wilson needs to start showing now. Say he gets half of what he brings in (so the probably down payments) and half the wages of the player moved on (so leaving half the wage bill-ish) then seems to be a plan for me. Monty would do a job for someone, but he is too rich for our blood given where we find ourselves and the Manager deserves some way of generating funds and budget for hungry and capable players.

WANTED

'Footballer'

Must run around tirelessly but aimlessly.

Extensive shadow-chasing experience is required.

NVQ or better in 'Giving away penalties' preferred but would consider A level 'Conceding multiple free-kicks on the edge of our box' as an alternative.

Woefully inaccurate passing essential.

Ball control optional - training will be given.

Scorers or creators of goals need not apply.

We are Equal Opportunity Employers - No football ability is required.

Applications to:

RAPFA
Row Z
S2 4SU

About time!!! We needed the likes of morgan/monty to move on the summer we dropped out of PL. Now these 'type' of players are what we'll need to get out of league 1! Agreed we need to keep hold of him now though, hope morgan talks him round.

That pretty much sums up Monty.

We may all love the lad, but he cant, and never has been able to, pass a football.

id settle for that,im hoping mccallister is a regular next term, along with willo and quinny(if they stay)would be a good midfield in that league.

But still a bit small, slow and panic stricken. We need better.

Based on one performance on his home debut in the torrential downpour? In which I thought he did rather well in the middle. Someone has mentioned on here but if we can keep Willo and keep him fit, Williamson & McCallister could be a decent partnership. Better than Doyle & Monty anyway.

I know it'd be an unpopular view, but I seriously see Doyle playing a lot better once Monty isn't on the same pitch.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Mcallister next season. From what I saw of him he will be very much suited to the type of football we'll hopefully be playing.

Leeds fans I work with all rate Doyle. I can see him being a decent holding midfielder for us next season. He doesn't run around as much as Monty but that's because his positional play is better. A midfield four of Quinny on the left, Williamson or McAllister and Doyle in the centre with a new right winger (maybe the return of McGovern we've been linked with) would have all the defensive and attacking attributes we should need at that level.

I'm surpised Pinchy managed to find time to post about Monty, what with nursing a diamond cutter of leviathan proportions at the mere thought of his poster boy being off to pastures new, and, compared to us at least, higher. All the blood would have run to that one delicate area, away from the other extremities. ;)

There is no pace in that midfield. I'm optimistic about McAllister though, and don't write off Conneely, Tønne and Løkberg either.
