Money to Burn?

I think McCabe wants out and has done for some years - but- no businessman ever sells when the stock is low and our stock is lower than a snake's belly in a cart-rut right now.

McCabe sees this deal with the Prince as subsidising the money he has to put in to keep us afloat each year. That's the attraction. I think he could still sell out the whole lot to one single investor if the right deal came along. However, it would be better to do that if we were at Championship level as the attraction of the Prem and all its riches would be more likely to attract an investor willing to take a punt on us getting there in 1 or 2 seasons. A bit like what's happened at Wednesday.

Be interesting to see if Chansiri hangs around another season at S6 if they don't go up?
I think originally KM thought the money would get us straight back into the championship and then hoped we could build to make a challenge via the playoffs. If things had gone to plan we should have been in the same situation as the pigs were last season by now, albeit with a lower wage budget and a greater dependency on the academy.
Then he could hang on until either the Prince or one of his mates made him an unrefusable offer or we went up.

But it looks like the Prince has run out of money. So we're back to where we were before he turned up.

And yes, it will be interesting to see how long Chansiri will pump money into the others before he realises that they're competing against clubs with huge parachute payments and very unlikely to make an automatic place.

Thanks man, I understand the token value of the sale, I just don't understand why McCabe would sell half the rights to the river of cash that fills his lake year-in-year-out like some fans think is the case.

Think you miss a point here. What McCabe says and his actions are complete opposites. I don't think many think he is lining his pockets but don't go telling everyone about big plans, big investments and Europe in 5 years then sell everyone and replace them with less good alternatives expecting a positive result.

'Running costs' innit..McCabe, quite clearly, has had enough of putting money in the club...besides which, he's got what he needs from shifting the assets out ...no need to push the footballing side..just let that take its 'natural course' and look after itself..

I think it's becoming obvious. Our Prince is fed up and not pumping money into the SUFC black-hole any more, and Kev is going back to his "stand on our own 2 feet" philosophy. Where that leaves us now, is probably what people have suspected for a while - an established League 1 club. Get used to it.
