has mccabe kept hold of this to pay off dw & bring in another manager?
was forte brought in on because he was recomended by another manager?
for all the great football we played last year under danny it's just not working this year and he's half way to the run adams had when we were relegated.
just a thought

Ah speculation without any substance. Try to get out more ;)

I suspect the club is in a worse situation financially than it is admitting, hence the sale. As they say in football you don't sell your better players and expect to improve do you?

As for McCabe, nice Blade that he is we ain't going anywhere under his stewardship because I don't think he has the footballing nous.

League 2 is probably a closer bet than the Championship as the fire sale continues in the summer. What is more worrying against a continuing slump is the inability of anyone with integrity to buy out McCabe. Until they do and investment is forthcoming it's the JTP for glory and maybe local derbies with Chesterfield, Rotherham or if we really plumb the depths Mansfield and Alfreton . You know its true as "it's the Blades way". zzzz

Once again. We're in the 3rd division. We don't have a lot of money.

As for the financial situation, are you implying that were cooking the books?

I just think McCabe is totally unwilling to pump any more money than he needs to into the club. He wants the club to survive on it's own.

I expect the gaffer to be here till the end of the season, but I don't expect him to be here next season.

The wilderness years are well under way. Sad times.

No Swiss, just that as we are in the entertainment business and obviously fans = dosh if the gates go down, so will the dosh, thus the club keep stum. Tactic familiar to most Blades who slavishly renew their season tickets only to find star players get "sold".

Other than being sardonic I am not sure what we can do. Obviously when you turn up you hope/expect they'll win but I suspect that fans are getting a bit concerned that an unfortunate season (2010-11) that saw us relegated is now turning into a longer stay and the consequences might damage the club irrevocably as the gap between the PL and FL gets ever wider and the chances of ever returning to the top flight become a pipe dream rather than a realistic ambition.

I think people over estimate McCabe's personal wealth. You also need to remember he has to get approval to out money in. He has no choice but to run the club as a business. We have had people pay to go in the board but don't have the cash to make a difference.

Unfortunately his heart still tells him that he is the saviour and he can't stop the lies. I would respect him more if he said the money from Blackman was used to balance the books. It's just the lies that kill me

The one advantage we have now is that you could sell any of our players and I wouldn't care much. Collins would be a loss. Maguire has promise but a lot to learn - I really wouldn't care about any other sale.

i can't understand why.. we still get 20k in for matches and surely the players aren't on prem. wages.. they are?? oh i get it now
i actually don't think McCabe 'has' the money. i think he is a fur coat and no knickers millionaire. his entire empire is mortgaged on BDTBL and so he is stuck with us and us him
people would show him more respect if he treated us with respect and came on the radio and said 'sorry everyone. i had to sell Blackman.. we're skint' .. that would be ok.. it is the lying that wears everyone down

Selling any of our home growns would severely brass me off. When you've watched them progress for years only to see them used to reduce the owner's self-inflicted debt... Well, that's not what it's all about is it?

The money has gone to pay the running costs of the club simple.

Guess it depends on your opinion of the Blackman sale. I didn't think it was a bad move.

Incidentally, what are the recent lies? Or are people speculating that there are lies to best McCabe with

McCabe promised a couple of signings, we got them... Our opinions on them may differ and i hate loans, but we got the two signings, plus it appears we had other late bids turned down... But there were no lies there

Did McCabe say we would replace Blackman by Thursday?

My gripe is the lateness of the signings. But it seems that we're not the only ones

that's fine Kev.. so why doesn't he just say so

You do get that message much more strongly via the fans forums, but most of what he says through the media seems to be disingenuous shite. I really cannot account for why he says this stuff.

I think the opposite Swiss , although probably unavoidable, it was a terrible move. Its not just the player we lose, its the goals as well that cant be replaced. We are where we are now because of McAbes lack of forethought in selling a certain leading goalscorer halfway through the season. On reflection, I bet he (McAbe) wishes he had stumped up the extra 600k, or what ever it was going to cost the club to keep him until the end of the season now.

Oh jeez it's taken you all of an hour to turn back to form. Just to be a little silly he did say we're all in this together. If you had gone last night you will know there is no together in this club right now. People are getting angrier at bad tactics and no commitment and the rest have their head in their hands wanting it all to go away. It's close to fighting stage in the south stand so do knows what it's like on the kop. When 5 differently people mention the Heath/port vale game as a comparison you might get where we were last night. Morgan because of where he sits at the back of the directors box got a few mouthfuls and watching Blackwell having a laugh and a joke killed me.

Tuesday there won't be 15000 fans there and the lucky ones who do go will see a non committed tactic less team leave it all on the pitch while the fans get angrier and leave, some for good.

I am certainly not going to listen to people on here who tell me my eyes lied to me.

Kevin has to be brave now because our manager is a coward.

Fair enough, I see your point, but I don't think he has offered that many goals recently. His return was good and he had pace, I guess we'll see how badly he is missed in the next few weeks.

I suppose McCabe will never escape the appointment of Robson and the sale of BT.

I should treat this with the contempt it deserves. Had this thread been started to discuss the match itself I would've declined to comment as I wasn't there. You're right on that.

This thread started about pure speculation on our finances, the signings and the position of the manager, not the tactical awareness. So please do yourself the favour of sticking to what this thread is about when stating that someone is turning back to form.

One thing you are right about is that there are enough subjects at the club to get us angry, lets not get bogged down in pure speculation.

Danny Wilson's job may well be at risk due to form and tactics etc, but my comments on this thread have been directed at the speculation and comments of "lies"

I don't share many people's affection for home grown players. Maguire aside, they all take the first move that's available to them. I'm also not convinced that the academy is not counter productive - I think when we sell them it has a bigger negative impact (as you allude to). I do wonder if we put the same resource / energy into pinching the best of the rest (E.G. Blackman) if we wouldn't be better off. I'm in a minority here, I know.

In any case it's academic. Harry would get some interest. The rest of our players are incredibly luck to be at a club like Sheffield United. Even the current shambolic version.

"I hope he stays". - Do you believe he meant that?

Do you think Beattie had Flu?

He's a liar.

But the Scarborough Property Group are the proud owners of Bramall Lane, the world's oldest professional sports stadium.

Makes you feel proud.

As I said at the start, it was going to be a silly post, but the lie is that we are all in this together because we are pulling in all types of directions. My rant carried over from seeing this last night and not a dig at you for not going. My rant also carried on after the game in the R&R and every port and call on Ecclesall Road
