Someone texts 606 (who have today had the likes of the worlds greatest players all flying into Stoke).... with a rumour saying we've turned down a bid....

and we are a selling club? is this more fact?????

Tell that to the kids coming out of Uni with huge debts, can't afford housing and /or plan to have a family and most of them unable to find jobs that they are qualified for.

I was always skint as a kid.......still am but still better off than I ever was and better off than anyone older in my family tree apart from my brothers.

My kids can't afford a house but they may have something from me.

Not something happened in the past in my family.

I'm happy at that!

I thought everyone knew we had also had 6 bids in for Villa, Robinho, Berbatov, Owen, Drogba and Arshavin. :)

I'd not like to bet thank you, i'd also have liked to have signed a central midfielder.

Are we good enough to do it? I don't know, we've seen signs and can still loan/wait till Jan. We had worse players in our starting midfield the last time we were promoted.

Still, if we don't go up, you can enjoy the glories of your prediction after 4 games... i'll just be dissapointed and get saving for the next season ticket.

The thing is though mate, you can't compare today's football to the 70's.

Money has completely changed the outlook of the game and it was easier to pick players up back then according to older generations of my family. These days it's not so simple.

Back then, it was about football. Now, like everything else, it's about money.

It's not what we want, but we have to accept it, or take up another sport.

Given that you can get 3/1 on us to go up at Coral, I'd be rather daft, and showing no AMBITION, to be betting with you :p

We can still get players in on loan, you know. All the dealing isn't all over.

Or with just a few years ago, or with any time in our history...

All I know is, in my lifetime, we've never been able to sign players with the class/careers of Gary Speed or even Ugo... despite their advanced years.

Never in a million years could we dream of signing someone of the likes of James Beattie, splashing the money and wages we did.

We'd have a job turning £2.5mil down for ANYONE.

Thats what its all about now, money, all the big clubs taking any talent in the lower leagues/reserves/youth teams before they have a chance to shine lower down.

Still, its nice to know we've already decided how the rest of the season will go, will save me a fortune on tickets and travel not going to the away games we've already lost embarassingly! Perhaps you've got next April's lottery numbers for me too?

You're getting rather repetitive now, is there any point me trying to debate the ins and outs of players not wanting to move to the other side of the country?

Still, they are all on that supermarket shelf and will do exactly as any potential buyer says won't they ;)

I'd suggest then, you ask Mr Ben Watson why he's so unreasonably not wanting to come up north, when quite clearly he should be forced to.

You really think that what players want, their families and their prefered location have nothing to do with transfers?

I'd also have a word with Kevin Phillips, who had various other offers than Brum, but signed for them purely based on location.

He was offered more, even at Barnsley, as he was at the other clubs in for him.

Just two very recent examples.
